Soooo pretty drag0n! That was one of my favorites from the class photo, and just like the others it’s even more pretty up close. Congrats!

Kitsune those kirins are lovely! I like the second in particular. I agree with drag0nfeathers in terms of price range.
Another way to price them out might be to make sure you’re paid for what you put into them, in terms of materials and time. So think up an hourly rate for your services as an artist, then multiply that by the hours you put into a piece, and add materials.

First of all CONGRATS! I hope planning goes smoothly for all involved and you both really enjoy your day!
Can’t go wrong with peacock feathers in my opinion! You may be able to find someone near you who raises the birds, or find an online source (Etsy rocks!) for shed feathers if you’re worried about birds being killed for their plumage. The whole feathers would look cool in flower arrangements, and I know they make trim out of feather pieces that might look cool combined with ribbon in ties or hair pieces.
You can always decorate with peacock Windstones too 😉

She’s tough to spot in the group photo because you can’t really see her vein/tree branch details at that distance. She goes from deep green on her face to teal and purple on her rear, with purple-teal interference so her butt glows 😀 The veining is SO COOL – you can see the little spots of thicker paint where Melody lifted up the brush at the end of each line. I think she’s the only one that has this type of decoration!
“Daaaahhhling…” 🙂
Melody, you’ve truly outdone yourself with these babies! Thank you AND everyone else at the factory for finishing, boxing, and website-wrangling. These guys are gorgeous!Forever seeking: Blackwatch the raffle Old Warrior, Jennifer Miller's pieces, and GB Baby unis!

Mine arrived today (I think, had a pebble kitty out in the mail too) and I’m resisting tearing the box open until dinner’s over, hah! 😀

Just a suggestion for those wanting to use tape to label the pads or tags – the adhesive will eventually degrade and leave a nasty stain! Eventually every kind of tape will turn brittle while the adhesive turns gummy. For a way to label things that’s completely removable, I’d suggest the little paper and string tags you see on jewelry and small flea market items. Most craft stores should carry them. You can loop the string around the tag, and remove them at any time. That way your labeling won’t risk damaging your pieces!

The adults have the gem colors of old greens, the hatchling might have been a peacock at one time. I can see bits of color on the adults between the scales and what looks like rubs where the black’s come off.

Thanks everyone, for tracking down all of that info for me! I’m looking into whether or not I could use something else as a base for the sculpting I want to do, but if I settle on the PYO after all I’ll certainly contact John for the final say.

Heh, I have packed my PYOs and paints up to send them home, and work on them while I’m with the family for the holiday break. Unfortunately I’d only be able to start on them a week too late to enter the contest! No worries though, I’m very much looking forward to seeing all of the entries, and await the next quest! Good luck to everyone working hard on their entries!

Heya Foxfeather! As a shamefully dedicated dinosaur collector myself, I have a few suggestions for the little guy. Safari Ltd. makes a line of toys called “Great Dinos”, that are essentially larger versions of some of their normal-sized figures, at a good price for their size. They’re quite scientifically accurate and are big enough for small hands. You can buy them directly through Safari’s website and some stores (Micheal’s or ACMoore craft stores, if they’re near you) carry them.
Playskool makes a line of toys that used to be called Definitely Dinosaurs. These are rubbery hollow toys that are jointed at the limbs, neck, tail, etc. They were mainly manufactured in the 80’s (you can find plenty on Ebay) but I’ve seen the smaller figures still available in toy stores as recently as a few years ago (haven’t been looking since!). These are lightweight and hold up very well to the bathtub. The larger dinos originally came with cavemen and saddles so they could ride the dinosaurs as well 🙂
Good luck and hope your nephew becomes a budding paleontologist!
