Naw, I wouldn’t want the rules to be ignored because I made the mistake of not reading them properly! Realizing my mistake was frustrating in the moment, but ultimately it was my mistake.
I sorted through several years worth of photos to find some of the ones I would have entered – some I knew off the bat that I wanted to include and some that I rediscovered along the way. Uncovering a few old gems was a prize in itself, heh! Again, best of luck to the entrants, I’ll be looking forward to seeing all the pictures!

*falls over* When the quest first came out, I mistakenly read the entry deadline as 11 *PM*, not AM, argh. Got everything ready to submit, come back to see I missed the deadline. Story of my life, heh! Best of luck to all who entered, just the scavenger hunt part of it was fun.

My fiance and I had our babies arrive today! I was absolutely thrilled to find one of my favorites in my box, with a sparkly blue fuzzy 🙂
She has metallic light blue eyes, gold spots on her throat, and lots of gold interference paint. The pattern reminds me very much of a take on the caduceus symbol; I think that’s going to end up being her name!
My fiance got this lovely winterberry! He has metallic lavender eyes, little lavender touches on the leaves, and a deep salmon red/pink throat. The black dusting on his back fades to gold near his underside.
As always Hannah you’re welcome to use these for your directory. Whee!Forever seeking: Blackwatch the raffle Old Warrior, Jennifer Miller's pieces, and GB Baby unis!
You landed my favorite one Grayfire! I’m still waiting on mine with much anticipation – the ones posted so far have been beautiful!

….prep your blank pyo’s? Gesso, white arylic, or not at all? Does your media choice (tea-stain, inks, acrylic, pastel etc..) affect if and how you would prep them?
I’ve prepped my handful of PYOs with a base coat of white acrylic. Sometimes the gypsum stone can come across as off-white, and so I find that the base coat sets a bright ‘blank’ color. The initial coating also helps to cut down on the amount of water that the gypsum stone absorbs when the next coat is applied, which is definitely helpful if you’re doing a tea stain or wet wash and want the color to run down the crevices more than sink right in.
I assume this technique works just as well in black acrylic if you want to use darker colors and make them really pop. I have a unicorn I’ll be base coating black… when I get around to her!

April 17, 2013 at 12:49 am in reply to: 4/9/2013 Natural Grab Bag Baby Unicorn Batch Photo Thread #896094Whee my fiance and I had ours arrive yesterday! I had to wait for better lighting to take pictures. We ended up trading with one another, hah, but we both love our unis and they’re growing on us fast.
Hannah, you’re welcome to use these for your directory if you’d like! Since I’m terrible with patterns, would someone with more horse sense please tell me how I’d describe the coats on these two? Many thanks, and thank you Melody for painting these beauties!Forever seeking: Blackwatch the raffle Old Warrior, Jennifer Miller's pieces, and GB Baby unis!

Beautiful! Out of curiosity, how large is the doll? Thanks for posting!

I’ve never felt strongly on the tags vs. no tags issue. I’ve kept all of the tags on the pieces that originally came with them – I fold them up underneath and they barely show if at all. Several of my pieces are from the time before tags (or felt pads even, for a few!), but I don’t think this affects their value. Whether or not a piece has a tag isn’t a dealbreaker for me when I’m looking to purchase. Actually, I consider having the original box to be more important if the piece is big and heavy.

Doppler is an adorable match for you! I love how the bright orange and red appropriately are next to the ‘severe weather’ of the blaze 🙂
