Thanks everyone for the kind words. My dad was finially discharged from the hospital. He has an appointment with an infectious disease doctor on Monday. My bf and about 6 of our close friends did lose their jobs last week. That has been pretty streeful. Plus his grandma passed away. Hopefully things will get better soon.
Well 2018 has been horrible so far. The year started off with having to replace my furnace. Financially a painful process. Then my bf was told the company he has been with for 9 years is laying off 1700 people. He will find out Friday if he still has a job. We have been having relationship problems so, the added stress isn’t helping. We are currently taking time “off”. That leaves the huge mind game of who gets the house,dog ect. Super painful. Then to top it off my dad has been hospitalized since last Monday. He’s been in isolation getting tested for lung cancer and possibly TB. Is it 2019 yet?

So, yesterday was a very sad and frustrating day. We recently have started to feed and take care of some of the city cats. Our local SPCA was closed due to some really shady business. Since this happened it has really hurt the remaining rescues in the area. I walked out onto my back porch to find one of the sweatiest cats we have been taking care of really injured. Her poor tail was completely skinned off. We have no clue what happened but rushed her to the emergency vet about 5 mins away. While we were in the waiting room i called about 3 different rescues. One in which she was on the wait list to start the re-homeing process. Everyone seems to have a 5 month wait list when it comes to cats. She would be listed for adoption at the end of November. It turns out no one wanted to help. We even offered to help with some of the medical bills. The vet said she need a full tail amputation but since the damage was so high up the tail she would never be able to control her bowel movements. So, unless we wanted to pay for the $2000 surgery and keep the cat since she would have no chance of finding a forever home they just wanted to put her down. They then told us even if we find a rescues willing to help with the cost they don’t work with anyone. At this point in the conversation my bf just lost it. He is a huge softie when it comes to animal care. I made the choice to end her suffering but he was sooo upset with me. I wish we could take in every animal that needed a home but it’s just not possible. Now, i have the endless guilt of only if i had taken her in this would never have happened. We still have about 5 cats that we feed and next month are getting spayed/neutered. It just feels hopeless sometimes. We have rescues in the area that could help these animal but they choice to ship cats/dogs in from other states and country’s. This just leaves people with no where to take pets.
I have no real advice to offer. I currently work a soul sucking retail job. Most days i really don’t mind it. However, i work my butt off and can take a promotion at anytime to make it a career. My bf works for the same company in a different location and went with the salary life style and i watch it slowly kill him. So, i decided to live a more simplistic life at a lower wage. I recommended just getting your foot in the door somewhere and see what connections you can make. I have friends working for the same company making 100k+ with no degree. I personally think it’s all about who you know that can open doors for you. If it makes you feel better i went to school for Art History and moved to a small town. No jobs unless your willing to drive 2 hours each way. I still owe $10,000 and have been paying off loans for about 5 years… 🙁
