Alrighty! I got inspired to photograph my entire blue hoppy family. Now all I need is for Ms. Melody to do a hoppy edition of GB adult poads.
Wow those are fantastic!
I’m not a fan of dark eyes but with those color patterns, they look great! And those blues are so pretty. I can’t imagine how difficult it was to match the three of them together…well done!
I’m not sure how I feel about this scheme. It’s VERY eye catching.
I’m in the same boat with you on this one.
It’s a gorgeous piece, no doubt! I can appreciate the skill it takes to utilize that many colors and get them to blend so beautifully. However, I don’t think I could ever own something _this_ flambuoyent. I would imagine that were I to purchase him and put him on my desk, my eyes would develop a twitch before long lol.
Personally I think I’d have loved to have seen the maroon/green/blue/purples atop a black or dark forest green underside rather than the orange/yellow mixture. But that’s just me. 😉
🙂 I like the dark green idea best. And I agree, I absolutely admire the skill it takes to use a variety of colors successfully.
Judging from the bidding though, this guy is quite popular. Perhaps this color scheme will sing better for us on another sculpt? Sometimes that happens.
Hmm…I suppose so. Smaller sculpts don’t truly give the artist enough room to get such a rich blend though. I think on something like a secret keeper, which is quite massive in comparison, it might allow for the color scheme to darken rather than lighten on the extremities (but Gina could choose to keep going lighter, for that matter). The other option might be on something wingless, such as a kirin, which would reduce the amount of vibrant yellow/oranges–and that’s something I could foresee really liking, too.
It was snowing Windstones! Great gifts guys!
Snowing Windstones – SO much better than Raining Men. 😉
I’d be hard pressed to both argue and agree lol. Half of me definitely agrees with that sentiment, but the other half says heck no! XD
Mmmmmmmm, manly manflesh (think Homer Simpson and doughnuts).
Mmmmmmmm, shiny Windstone pretties.
Yummy on both counts!

The hoppy was a bit of a gamble as most of the colors in the class photo are ones of which I’m not fond; however, I was content to unwrap this cute blue/white/black poison dart. The only disparaging note about her are her dark eyes…for the most part (and by most I mean 99%) I really do not like the dark/black eyes (with the dark metallic grey eyes being the exception). I love the clean lines of her back, though, and she matches my tadpoad rather well (me nitpicking would say the tad’s blue is a bit mintier of a shade…but tomayto, tomahto).
And a gorgeous okapi safari.
I’m definitely looking to trade the okapi (my #1 still hasn’t shown up) so I’m open to offers on her. I would also consider trades on the hoppy, but only for a similar one with light eyes.
I’m not sure how I feel about this scheme. It’s VERY eye catching.

Kim, It’s actually really easy for con men (and women) to prey upon people online. Take dracco’s mother, for example. Someone that’s lonely and soft-hearted make the perfect victim for these people. (A bonus if they’re older and not as internet-saavy as the younger people.) There are a lot of diverse websites available for men and women to try to find love again; conning someone for their money is usually that rather than pretending to be a relative. You meet someone online, talk to them a few weeks, eventually get to a point where it becomes “oh jeez, I have problems and need money or it’ll be awhile before I can talk to you again.” They may not even strictly ask for it, but the instinct of _someone you like needs help_ makes you WANT to send them money.
And that’s not even counting people who use such sites to hack other people’s computers (we had to watch an internet security video at work that talked about this a lot)–all it takes is you downloading (under false pretenses, such as ‘oh it’s a picture of me’) and opening a .pdf or some other file into which they’ve inserted a program of malicious code and voila! They have remote access to your computer. They can install keyloggers, which track how you hit the buttons on your computer, as well as ‘ransomware’ which encodes everything on your computer so you can’t access it (“unless you send X amount of money to so-and-so to have the encryption removed”, or get it fixed professionally). Plus they have access to everything actually on your computer, which is why keeping passwords in a .doc is really really bad.
In the past, before the internet became such a huge social networking function, these charming swindlers had to work much harder to get their schemes to work because they had to do it IN PERSON (or on the phone), but all of them are nothing if not charismatic. And in person they had to be very good at reading people.
Nowadays? They’re probably sitting naked at their desk chair crafting fake profiles on dating sites and the like, garnering sympathy from ‘other poor wounded souls’. With the increase in apathy toward our fellow folk as well as a rise in disregard for both common courtesy and a ‘noble’ mindset, a lot of these parasites are popping up because it’s easy money for them.
I also think that a lot of the folk from older generations at least have a sense of respect? Humanity? Chivalry? That is utterly lacking in more and more people. I know for a long while, my mom took people at their word on the internet, believing in the general goodness of people and refusing to accept they might be lying or worse. Fortunately my family is not really into the online social scene–plus we never had much in the way of internet tech–so she never fell prey to such things before she wised up.
My sympathies for your mom’s situation dracco. I hope that she’s not blaming herself and that she’s cut ties with him. It will be that much harder for her to resolve if she’s still emotionally attached to him. Lots of women in this particular type of situation go into denial/still believe in that person, and it’s difficult to make them enlightened. 🙁
Best of luck to you and her if you try to get the funds reversed. It’s not an easy process at all.
Merry Christmas to all of you at Windstone Editions!
Rediscovering Windstones made the end of this year very exciting. I can’t thank you enough for your efforts these past few days with the Christmas rush + new releases.
I hope your holiday is a happy one!
“Warrior..?” You let the question hang as your mind buzzes with so many more.
The dragon settles his weight, lying on his belly and folding his front limbs around his chest, his tail curling around his body. His head seems to nod in response to your unanswered questions. “Yes. Answers become questions, questions are the answers. There is much I wish I could say, but we Guides are under a…geas…to limit what we’re capable of. Know though that I am always on your side.”
Stepping toward the beast with one arm outstretched, your hand comes to rest upon the hide of his chest. It’s warm! Unable to help yourself, you start to stroke his scales. A rumbling echoes deep within his breast, suspiciously reminiscent of a purr.
“So then…what can you tell me?”
Thank you so much Melody! As this is my first Christmas card from you, I wasn’t sure what to expect but it’s absolutely gorgeous!
I don’t know how I’m going to display it yet…I don’t want anything to happen to it but I want to be able to open it too so that I can see the little guy on the inside. Such a conundrum.
Nevertheless, a gushing font of gratitude towards you!
Looks like a pinecone with a red/purple filter.
Welcome to the forums, Kat!
I’m glad my introduction, as silly as it is, put you at ease–and worry not, I edited mine multiple times on a .doc, wondering if it was too long, too annoying, too everything.
I’m sorry to hear you’ve been through so many ups and downs with your Windstone collection. And that’s on top of persistent health problems. You seem to have a wonderful attitude about everything you’ve been through, though, and it feels to me like you’ll be a good fit around these parts.
Don’t go too crazy with the pampering! 😉
Nothing like sputtering tea onto the monitor to give acclaim to a creative idea. Well done! 😀
I took a break from Rosedust (my pyo kirin–you can see here in the background of some of these photos, and worry not, she growls at me for being incomplete) and am working on this guy, who’s going to be a gift.
He’s not complete yet at all. The eyes/gems are just sitting in the holes for the sake of the photos because I wasn’t sure I’d like the colors (the tail gem for sure is probably gonna have to be different from siam). I’ve a lot of touch ups to do, and I’m hesitant to make any big changes so I’m seeking input on him.
I feel like the red needs to be brought down into the body somewhere else. I’d originally intended to paint the darts in the black scales red, but every time I tried it just looked taudry. So I elevated the black (it was originally a matte black) by adding a mix of micropearl and a few drops of silver to a bunch of black, then washed that mixture atop the black (it gives it a very slick appearance and brings out the depth of the scale detail). The blue in the photos looks a lot brighter than it is in person–the deep navy you see on parts of the arms of the wings is more like what most of the blue is, aside from parts I’ve highlighted with a lighter blue (like on his forearms above the silver).
And the wings are definitely incomplete! I really wanted to blend the inner wing mebranes and was considering the boning and bottom markings in silver (though I’ve also thought to use the red there too but it might be too much). I was also debating putting silver darts on the tips of the spinal red scales but I worry it might clash.
Blarg…I’ve been looking at it waaaay too long. And it’s shiny so it’s blinding.
Help! lol
It’s both, actually…though I think in my head I was thinking of cookies when I made the post, so if you could talk to your roommate, that would be great! 🙂
Editted mine. Added and removed things. Nothing too fancy to worry about.
