What a crappy time to be sick enough to sleep all day. Grrr…
Now I get to live vicariously. 🙁
Welcome! And congratulations on such a successful venture! It’s always a wonderful feeling to be able to find and collect something you’ve had your heart set on for years, for sure.
It seems rather fitting, too, to name yourself Basilisk while being a parent to a brood of hens. 😉

‘Biohazard’ green. How fitting! I love the way the green-gold on the body scales both contrasts and accentuates the burnished coppery color of his fur. And I love how the purple/indigo pops in his ears in that flank shot of him on the glass table. He’s not something to my color tastes but definitely an eye catcher!@copper83
Woooooow! That rich cobalt blue is gorgeous. Personally, I kind of wish the green was a little darker than the bright, vivacious lime green but there’s no doubt it’s striking as is.@chibishiro
I chuckled at the little silver toes of the hooves peeking through the fur and, yes, what a sparkly girl! The mauve fur looks so silky (especially predominant in ye olde butte shots) and the way it darkens in the feathering of the hooves is very nice.I’m relatively new to the forums so I wasn’t around in its glory days. For the short while I’ve been here though there has been a sense at times of undercurrents between several forum members that was pretty obvious to see. For the most part, though, the people I’ve interacted with have been genial and understanding.
As Jynxx said, communication is VITAL to avoid misunderstandings and hurt feelings. I know that I do my best to be upfront about my situation, particularly with regards to buying/trading pieces; sometimes there just isn’t enough money to go around with Ebay pieces (special or otherwise), grab bags, and the classifieds. Sometimes deals fall through. It hurts that much more when you try your best to make it work out by wheeling and dealing a multitrade situation and, after all that effort, it doesn’t. It happens. It’s frustrating as heck, for sure! But–not to be cliche–life is hardly fair and it’s never easy.
When it comes to a ‘strike’ policy I’ve found things like that are iffy at best. If someone is the kind of person who enjoys toying with others and they have the opportunity to knowingly do harm and get away with it, they’ll take advantage of it. I’m a fan of no-tolerance and/or one-warning policies. Even better if it’s associated with a ban tied to their IP–i.e. anyone else living with them would be penalized for their folly. That might seem incredibly harsh BUT it puts an added stigma to behave like a civilized person since they’d be facing repercussions at home.
One thing for sure: forum members are not the police. Dragging drama into the limelight just to get it resolved is a big no-no and should carry its own penalty. If people have grievances I feel that they should take their information to John and the mods and allow them to decide how to resolve it. That’s what they’re there for! But this also means trusting them to FAIRLY and IMPARTIALLY examine evidence. They will likely be empathic towards your grievances, but it’s possible that if you retaliate towards whomever you have issues with then they’ll have to judge your actions, too.
On a sidenote–and please correct me if I’m wrong–I don’t think there’s a stickied post anywhere specifically about submitting issues. There is a post about forum rules/guidelines but nothing (that I recall) about whom to contact when you have a problem. Until recently I didn’t even know who John was, and I’ve no idea whom the moderators are! Perhaps having that knowledge on display somewhere would help avoid public persecutions.

February 14, 2016 at 6:20 am in reply to: color shift GB baby kirin show off thread – 02/10/2016 #941793She’s a cute little thing with olive green-dark gold color shift leaves (with a bright green color at the center of some of the scales), reddish-magenta berry spots, and a magenta-copper patch between her ears behind her horn that matches the melon-pink color of her inner ears; grey metallic eyes and a gold horn.
Rylorien, yours looks like it is ready for a mask ball! 😀 Awesome markings!
Right? Masquerade makes for a great name (and a convenient old school MLP reference!). Melody did a fantastic job with the details and color blends on these babies.
February 13, 2016 at 10:00 pm in reply to: color shift GB baby kirin show off thread – 02/10/2016 #941768I got mine today too, woo! I like her but she wasn’t a favorite pick so I’ll consider trades – specifically looking for a purple one (esp white-faced) or the rootbeer brown & white ones with brown patches on the sides.

First pictures are with flash where you can see the sparkle paint; the other two pictures are without flash.
That might be possible, though I do agree with you in that the plating surpasses paint in appearance.
I’d still really like to see a few with oriental antler-esque horns, too…
Humdrum!
February 12, 2016 at 5:04 pm in reply to: color shift GB baby kirin show off thread – 02/10/2016 #941712First there was the message last week “maybe today or tomorrow or next week”. I kept hanging around the computer. Not hoping, of course (I will not build my life around Windstones). Thursday, Friday, Saturday (I will not build my life around Windstones). Monday, TUESDAY (I will not build my life around Windstones). WEDNESDAY. Site’s down. Must have tried to put them in the store and the flood of buyers crashed it. Will it be fixed today? Will they still go in the store even if it’s late? Hang around the computer (I will not build my life around Windstones). Went to eat. Came back. Checked again (I will NOT…) The site’s up! They’re there! Of course I will. We all know Melody’s our dealer! 😀
Lol, pdlucich, lol.
I didn’t exactly live next to my computer, but I was just as antsy waiting for a phone alert. 😉
February 11, 2016 at 7:35 pm in reply to: color shift GB baby kirin show off thread – 02/10/2016 #941655I agree that there are many likeable ones. There are two I yearn for and about a dozen I wouldn’t mind being a buddy for my poor lonely albino baby kirin, then the ‘likeability’ tapers away into cute enough to keep, cute but not interested, not really my thing, so on and so forth.
One that caught my eye early on was the brown one nearest the camera in the teaser pic before they had eyes–he was a ‘rootbeer’ brown color with mask marks on his muzzle; another I love is the top right corner of one of the class photos…he’s a white-base one with green and brown vining/leaves on him. There’s some similar ‘leafy’ pattern ones in blues and purples that are absolutely fantastic too!
I’m itching and twitching to start seeing people’s photos. 🙂
Hannah, you and I need to start a heathen cult…maybe sacrifice vegetables to the fates…we have no luck with our grabs aligning with our hearts’ desires. 🙁
I too was hoping for one with lots of color.
*lofty sigh*
I do agree with Bullsquid though; that tiger pinto is lovely and elegant.
Very pretty aggie! I love the way the colors fold down the back of the wings and match the flow of leaves on his rump.
Awwww cute Valentine fuzzy too!
I know which forum you’re going to be haunting Natasha, while you wait for work to end and you can go home to check yours. Not that I can blame you, hehehe. 😉
Mashubert…twinsies! The grey undercoat on yours is splendid and really gives those stripes a lovely backdrop (the photo of the non-display side keeps catching my eye where the stripes all curve together).
Hahahaha. I am NOWHERE near that patient – I had mine shipped to work! So assuming the mail delivers when it says it will I should have it in the next few hours! Please, Mr. Postman, bring me a peg!
Lol!
Well, that’s one way to deal with the anticipation. 😉

As per my typical ‘unluck of the draw’ I got one of the ones I didn’t want. There’s no doubt she’s adorable–there’s something remarkably charming about light blue eyes on a zebra and I love the stripes on the arm joints of her wings–but I was hoping for one of the black-based ones. She’ll be up for trade, hopefully for one of those that caught my eye (I really liked the one in the top left of the blog photo with teal on the wings).
You can see in the pictures she’s covered with the sparkle paint, too.
