https://www.redbubble.com/people/prezaurian?ref=artist_title_nameApoxie Sculpt from AVES. It comes in about a dozen different colors and I have been buying the four pound tubs of it. I still can’t believe I have used an entire four pounds of it on this so far. And no problem. Alot of the tools are new (the dental like ones) We found them at a local hobby and model shop. I LOVE that store. Like geeky project paradise, models, mins, dnd stuff, rc planes and boats (I am talking the big ones you build and fly yourself) and every science project you could think of!!
I love hobby stores myself. They’re a lot of fun to wander around in. Our local hobby store (not counting Michaels, Hobby Lobby, or Jo Anns) is like what you describe. Though it’s not organized in the best way. Does yours have model trains too?

https://www.redbubble.com/people/prezaurian?ref=artist_title_nameMm, this thread seems to have gone dead. So I’ll give a more definitive answer to bump it. Might as well pick ‘no theme’ for this swap. And people who want to receive a ‘magic mushroom/psychedelic’ themed piece can say so to whomever is painting for them. That way you can get the maximum number of people to join.

https://www.redbubble.com/people/prezaurian?ref=artist_title_nameVery, very cool. I’m just really looking forward to seeing this sculpt when you’re done. Thanks for showing pictures of your tools! OH! What brand of apoxie are you using if I may ask?

https://www.redbubble.com/people/prezaurian?ref=artist_title_nameIf I were to purchase a white critter, I’d probably choose blue eyes. I just like the color combination better. It has nothing to do with looking more natural or not.
However, as I don’t buy white sculpts of any kind (blank PYOs the exception) I hardly think my opinion matters. I don’t find them particularly interesting. -shrugs-

https://www.redbubble.com/people/prezaurian?ref=artist_title_nameMarch 14, 2015 at 7:03 pm in reply to: Will There Be Grab Bag Standing Ki-rins Soon or Other Grab Bags? #926753I just got home and saw the new standing baby ki-rins in the store and was so excited to get one. With that said I am wondering if there will be a batch of grab bag standing kirins coming our soon or in the future? I was hoping to get a couple pieces together but if they will be a while I may just get one of the albino ones for now.
If the standing babies haven’t been done as grab bags yet my next question is what will be the next grab bag batch? Are you going to be doing the merle and brindle wolves soon or perhaps do a new batch of baby unicorns or young poads? It’s been a while since those have come out. Of course I want them all but am just curious what will be coming out next.
We have plenty of these small-footed standing kirins to paint, like about 400 more… so, yes I could do a grab bag batch of those next. They won’t be the easiest to paint super fancy because of the scale texture, but I can take a stab at it.
So we want bright colors, or natural colors? Or everything all together?I think it’d be nice to do two batches – One fantasy/bright, the other natural, so people can have a little more control over what they get, but it’s still a surprise. I liked the way the Hoppy Poads worked, for example. Plus then there can probably be a price difference to compensate for the harder-to-paint fancier ones, maybe.
I like the idea of either a mixed batch of fantasy and natural or two separate batches. There are so many buyers that can be sharply divided on what they like. Fantasy vs. natural. I would be interested in seeing a few of the kirins be natural AND fantasy. Like natural browns, whites, blacks etc. WITH fantasy colors…say…on the scales or some mixture of natural markings. That would be neat. But…perhaps not practical. Can’t hurt to suggest though!

https://www.redbubble.com/people/prezaurian?ref=artist_title_nameGorgeous kirin! You did a fantastic job. I love the metallic/pearl blue with the pearl white. Beautiful colors! Personally, I would probably pick medium blue for this one. It would complement the blue scales nicely.

https://www.redbubble.com/people/prezaurian?ref=artist_title_nameCongrats Amstaff! I know EXACTLY how you feel. It is nice having a new car that spares you some worries that an old car gives you. Insurance may go up…and you may have payments…but you also have some peace of mind. Though it stinks not having the extra spare money.

https://www.redbubble.com/people/prezaurian?ref=artist_title_nameIf you feel that this artist is infringing on another’s art, I would contact the original artist and let him/her know about it. It is up to the original artist to sort this stuff out!
Usually a friendly letter from the original artist is all it takes to get them to stop. Many beginning artists don’t understand that what they are doing is a problem, after all, in school they teach you about composition by having you copy other artists pieces!
I was amazed when one of my early art ( Jr high school?) teachers said “don’t copy photos and other peoples art anymore”. My early sketchbooks are collections of copies of everything. Copying has its place for learning, but you can’t sell it unless it is copyright-free art.It gets complicated when painters sit together and paint the same scenes! They do this sometimes, I have seen it. They gather in flocks and all paint the same trees, or cactus or whatever.
Bolded for emphasis. ONLY the copyright holder (the original artist) can do something about it, and otherwise it can create a lot of hurt feelings and possibly worse. If you can, get a photo… or at least the artist’s name. You might ask the shop if the artist has a website or anything. Then send that info to the original artist if possible.
-nods- I haven’t done anything one way or another just yet because I don’t want to commit some horrible faux pas. The local artist’s name was displayed (which I’m not stating here because it has no business being here) and I did get some pictures, but there was no contact information at all. I’ve looked for a website, but none seems to exist. And I don’t think I have a way of privately contacting the original artist. I’ll have to look around more carefully. But I’m thinking I’ve hit a dead end. -sighs- The whole situation is just really lame.
