https://www.redbubble.com/people/prezaurian?ref=artist_title_nameSo, could one glue a marble in his mouth?
I believe Melody mentioned somewhere that he can fit a 10mm sphere. A standard marble is a little too big…which is a shame because I’d love to use a cat’s eye marble! They’re some of my favs.

Regretfully I haven’t had time to paint in the last month. I finished my dragon and had started working on the kirin’s details…but time just got away from me. It’s definitely fun though!
The first PYO is such a learning curve, too, so don’t be discouraged! My kirin was my first piece started but it’ll be the second one finished. Even with practicing on some cheap ceramics I found at a goodwill shop, detailing is tricky business. More than once I’ve had to walk away from the piece because I couldn’t get the result I wanted. Just be patient with it, relax, maybe put on some music, and enjoy yourself. 🙂
Seconded! Or if not music, your favorite movie or television show as background noise. 😉

https://www.redbubble.com/people/prezaurian?ref=artist_title_nameI’ve looked on Amazon and Michaels and unfortunately nothing is comparable to Dick Blick’s price (they start at $11.84 and just go up in price). I even tried looking up the brand of iridescent medium I use (Liquitex) and it turned out more expensive (even on Dick Blick!). Plus, on Dick Blick it is also out of stock. Which I find unusual. Two different brands both being out of stock? Most unusual. It’s like around Christmas when finding metallic red paint becomes IMPOSSIBLE.
So here is a sort of short cut. You can also use pearl acrylic paint. It is very similar to iridescent medium though a little less translucent. I’ve mixed it with flat colors to give them a pearlescent shimmer. Like the medium, it will lighten whatever color you add it to (i.e. flat red will turn pearl pink). A bonus is that the 2 oz container of pearl acrylic paint will be a lot cheaper than the iridescent medium. Plus there are several brands to choose from.
You can usually find it with the metallic colors in craft stores and it’s usually called, ‘white pearl’. DecoArt and Craft Smart brands have this color.
There is metallic red paint??
I’m so sorry to give false hope Melody! It’s only labeled metallic red on the bottles of acrylic paint in the craft stores. It still looks pink no matter which brand I look at. But it still sells out around Christmas time. The only time I ever see REAL metallic red is a Testors brand of paint. And I think those are either enamels or solvent based. They’re for model cars. T_T
Has Windstone tried really fine size metal flake? I’ve seen some nice reds available in micro flake sizes. I’ve also seen red pearl pigment powders. I don’t know how well they would work for Windstone but some of them are good prices to experiment with.
Here’s an example of one of the red pearl pigments. That particular seller has a few different red pearl pigments and also several red micro flake sizes.

https://www.redbubble.com/people/prezaurian?ref=artist_title_nameIf it was a gift, I’d feel a little guilty if it were me (pack rat that I am, I get more sentimental the longer I own something). But a commission? I think it’s perfectly fine for you to sell it if you want to. It’s yours, bought and paid for. No harm, no foul in selling in my opinion.
I’m like this too! And this is a beautiful piece but…I’m going through moments lately where I’m like “this is just stuff…”
My new year’s resolution was to spend less money on stuff and more money on experiences; concerts, travel, spending time with friends I never see. So if I could sell this item to make the final payment to the other artist, it would be ideal for me. Also…the piece I am thinking of selling is done by a wonderful artist here so I don’t want to hurt her feelings.Thank you all for the replies!
Once in awhile I start looking around my home and start thinking, “What do I need all this c*** for?” That’s when I start brutally going through dvds and books. But typically that’s reserved for when I start running out of space.
And you’re right, sometimes the experiences are worth way more than stuff. I think that’s a great New Years resolution! 😀 Good luck on selling that commission piece!

https://www.redbubble.com/people/prezaurian?ref=artist_title_nameFinally managed to snag an Emperor dragon off of eBay! My first one ever. He’s missing his pad, is super dusty and faded (which was stated in the auction, so this isn’t a complaint) but he’s all mine! Woot! Gonna have fun cleaning him up for my collection! 😀
Congratulations. 🙂 What color is he?
The old peacock color. 🙂

https://www.redbubble.com/people/prezaurian?ref=artist_title_nameI had one in my cart and started to check out when I questioned my purchase. Do I like the Colorshift? Yes. But do I care for the armadillo? No. So I let him go. I’ll wait for the lady cats in Colorshift. The tanuki mold isn’t high on my list either, so I’ll try and refrain from impulse buying when the production/Colorshift ones come out. Congrats to those who got one!
🙂 Grab Bag fever purchases are hard to resist. Congratulations on your will power! I also adore the colorshift, however I’m not a big fan of the armadillo. So even though I saw them in plenty of time to purchase (there were more than 10 available when I saw ’em) I completely bypassed them. I would much rather spend the money on colorshift lady cats. 😉
