Oh, YES! The eyes just really take the Ocean color from “pretty” to “AMAZING”. 🙂

I think a rainbow trout would be interesting — and (maybe a little simplified) within reason to do. Dark olive-green above (metallic would look great — like wet-shiny fish!), white-silver below, with a pink stripe and black speckles! (Touches of salmony orange-pink on the fins could be used for…?) It’s kind of complicated, but it would be very hard to do with airbrush and since the patterns vary widely from fish to fish, you could take liberties to make it a little easier: Black crappie (http://www.dec.ny.gov/images/fish_marine_images/blackcrappie.gif). Though when I compare them, the white crappie might be easier: http://www.lakeforkoutdoors.com/white%20crappie%20lake%20info.jpg. A fantasy version like this (http://www.sealifegifts.net/user_images/crap1.JPG) might make an even better dragon!

Haha, the minute I got her out of the box and started examining her under the light, I thought, “Gee, Ski would *love* this dragon!” ::laughs:: So,
I’d never sell her, but if the raffle prize is ever something I can’t live without, I’d consider giving her away (to preserve my chances at the raffle) or trading her for another raffle item (or a White Spectral/Rising Spectral, or other rare beastie)… Either way, you’d be the first person I contacted! ::grins:: So, y’know, if Melody puts a Twilight or Blue Pearl Lap up on Ebay or something, PM me! Because while I do love her, I’m pretty sure that between pink and blue, I’d opt for the latter.
(She looks SO GOOD, though, sitting between my Gold and my Ruby Lap dragons!)

I have no idea! She just showed up! I was home nearly all day, but no one rang or knocked — yet around three-thirty I was heading to a job interview, and it was there on the doorstep.
I suspect UPS did something stupid, because the box was still all sealed up, not opened. So unless someone walked off with it, kept it unopened for a day, then had a change of heart without so much as peeking inside, it was probably UPS’s doing even though they didn’t knock or ask for a(nother) signature.

I classify the OW as a separate species/race/breed, because of the lack of jewels — despite being of sufficient size to have at least two gems, the OW has none, and no place for one (so the lack is not just a “birth defect” or battle damage). So I think he’s a separate type from the rest.
As for “the rest”, I tend to judge by the horns — “old type” dragons have horns the color of their body, while “new type” dragons have gold-plated horns. The “old type” dragons also have much more varied scales, ranging from tiny pebble-like areas to broad plates, while the “new type” tend to have much less variation and a higher proportion of large, smooth scales.
There also seem to be some differences in face shape between them, but with most of my collection in another state I can’t be sure how good a criterion this is. The “new type” dragons seem to have narrower noses in relation to their head width; compare the Male and the Lap in terms of body size versus head appearance — the Lap’s got a much narrower nose! This is why I tend to assume the Fledgling is a “new type” whose gold horns haven’t budded yet: compare his face with that of the Young dragon — his is actually broader than the older-than-him Young dragon’s, but the nose is thinner — like a slightly more grown-up version of the Kinglet (whom I also think of as a “new type” whose horns haven’t grown in yet).
I tend to think of the Secret Keeper as the “Empress” (particularly considering that, with most reptiles, if there’s any difference then the female is usually larger than the male — and she’s the only one who dwarfs the Emperor!) all grown up. 🙂

Heehee! 🙂 Although, somewhat oddly, I have always assumed my Emerald OW is female. The White is definitely male, though. They’re best buddies, and like to sit next to each other and discuss past battles. (The BVP is also male, in spite of having a somewhat female name.)
Speaking of stories — I remember that someone once asked a similar question about the hatching Kinglet, but I can’t remember what your answer was — I think it was along the lines of “I thought of him as the baby form of (X sculpt)”, but was it the male? Or something else?

The name was apparently not really legible; they told me “Madison” at first, then admitted it might be something else, they couldn’t read it very well. Susie is going to try some things from the Windstone end, since it was shipped under their account number, and tomorrow I’m going to call again and see if they can’t give me any more information, or at least give them a hard time. They don’t deserve a moment’s peace.
If I haven’t gotten it back in a couple more days, I was thinking of making a poster/flier and taking it round to the local pawn shops; anyone else have any ideas of this sort? The police?

I really don’t have any! I was home all day, but no one rang or knocked — yet around three-thirty I was heading to a job interview, and it was there on the doorstep.

I’m just so glad to have her back! I’ll post some pictures tomorrow, when the lighting is better. She’s sitting between my White and Ruby Laps, looking like a pictorial illustration of “codominant genes.” 🙂

EDIT: The Lap Dragon mysteriously arrived on my doorstep today! No one knocked, so I have no idea if it was UPS or what, but she was in the box safe and sound, and that’s all that really counts!She’s very beautiful — her felt says “Champagne”, and she really does look like rosé champagne! She’s much pinker than I had anticipated. 🙂 And she has lavender eyes, which I’ve never seen in person before — I really like the color!

Hey, guys, I know this is a long shot, but it looks like the December auction Lap Dragon I won has been stolen — someone signed for the box, but it wasn’t me, and none of my neighbors have a clue who it was.Susie is helping, and there’s still a few things I haven’t tried yet, but anyway: if you see this dragon on Ebay, etc., PLEASE let me know? I’m just heartbroken that she’s gone missing!

This one was just… reluctant! He took me the better part of a year, and I’m still not completely pleased with him, but time has run out — he’s a Christmas gift for my friend, so it’s time he was wrapped and mailed!
Her favorite colors are green and silver, so that’s what he is; I’ve been calling him “Malachite” in my head, though he’s really got too much blue for that.
These are really dreadful pictures; pretty much all the insane details are lost. (I’m really disappointed about the wings — he has interference on his wingfeathers that shades white-green-blue-violet, but you can’t see it at all here.) I’m hoping his new owner will send me some pics when she gets him, so I can update my gallery.
