Anyone know how long UPS Ground usually takes to ship? (Corvallis to ~midwest US, nothing too far or too tricky!)
I ordered my cougars on the 15th, and chose the UPS Ground option; I thought they’d be here by now, but I may be misremembering the estimated travel time (it says it next to each option when you choose one, but doesn’t say it on the invoice or on the order form under My Account -> Order History) and there’s no tracking number.
The 15th was a Friday, so I didn’t expect the order to go out till the 18th, but I thought UPS Ground’s estimated time was 2-3 days, so it ought to have arrived yesterday or today…?
I’m in Colorado, and it pretty consistently takes 4 business days (UPS doesn’t deliver on weekends unless you pay them to) once the item has been shipped.
Still no cougars. 🙁 If they’re not here by tomorrow, I’ll contact Windstone and see if they have a way to track the package from their end.

Check PayPal – they show a tracking number if there is one. It takes a week or more for UPS items to cross the country (West Coast to East Coast), if that is any help.

Paypal shows a “transaction ID,” but no tracking number, so I don’t think there is one. (I was pretty certain there wasn’t; the forum order form has a space for a tracking number, and there’s none; but it’s good to have a way to double check!)
I guess I’m just impatient, and misremembering the shipping options! Thank you for the reassurance.

Well, I can’t show my *whole* collection, but here’s a chunk of it – the stars finally aligned and I had my camera, some uncluttered surfaces, and a little free time all at once! 🙂
Not shown: Old Warriors (except White), Griffins, KiRins (though there’s one hiding very sneakily in one pic!), Blue Morpho Lap Dragon (she’s up high by herself; guess I forgot to snap a pic of that shelf!), Old Green Male & Old Brown Female, and the fleet of PYOs in all stages of finished-ness. Also not shown: Pebble Cougars who are currently in the mail!

That’s a great collection! I love the jewelry accents on the white dragons and the repaint male is pretty. I really like the peacock vase behind him too. 😉
Thanks! I love making jewelry for my dragons; lots of them have little horn dangly-twirls, and a few of them have necklaces (one has a bow). 🙂
That peacock vase has been with me about a decade – I bought it off Ebay (are we sensing a trend here?) when I was in college, and it’s so pretty; in person; I love all things peacock.

Who is the male dragon on the left in the picture with a BVP (BEP?) lap? He’s very handsome.

The handsome fellow next to the BVP Lap is a repaint; I saw him on Ebay and couldn’t resist! The artist is a forum member, KoishiiKitty, and his name is “Magnus Black Pearl.”
Eeee, someone likes my silver griffin! That was another Ebay find, but from almost a decade ago; a he was a mere twelve bucks! It’s a super-cheap resin casting, and came in a hideous ‘faux-patina-bronze’ color that was just awful. I sculpted him some new feathers to fill in the gap in his display-side wing, then chrome’d him up and applied a thin black wash for a bit of contrast. I’m very pleased with how well his “rehab” came out!

Thanks! I practically tied myself in knots trying to get a picture of the eyelid that would even show the damage. It was such an awkward place for an “injury” – and it would’ve been a nightmare to have to repair an eye socket, so I’m very grateful it was such a stealthy bit of damage.
I’m glad to hear it looks good to your eyes; I’ve been staring at this dragon too long, I might overestimate how good my repair job looks. 🙂

Great job! I’m still wary on trying repairs myself, so I haven’t been able to take advantage of any eBay deals like you did! I would so love a lap.
I really got a screaming deal on this one! I was so surprised. 🙂 The seller had noted the claw chips (and possibly the tail chip, I don’t remember), but I don’t think they knew about the eyelid – I didn’t realize it myself till I started working, since repair work tends to involve holding your dragons at really weird angles. 🙂 Thankfully, paint was all it needed.
This is my second (actually, third; I fixed a chip in a Pebble’s ear in between the Laps, but between how easy it was, and the fact I’m not brave enough to attempt repainting yet, I didn’t post about it) repair, and my advice is: go for it!
Something like this Lap would be ideal for a beginner (good, since I am one!) — all the damage was in areas where there’s minimal risk of causing further problems while doing repairs, so there’s less worry about making things worse by trying!

(We totally are our own worst critics; after all, we’re the ones who can look at our work from a 1mm distance to spot every tiny flaw. That was why I made myself take a picture from a more normal viewing distance, to give an idea of what the repair looks like to somebody walking by, or looking at a group photo!)

With a little Apoxie Sculpt, I filled in the hole in his claws and resculpted his missing scaletip on his tail.
Rough fill-in:
Since his claw is a smooth, broad (well, relatively) surface, I didn’t worry too much about filling the gap precisely! It was much simpler to concentrate on making sure the apoxie went all the way down inside and securely filled the holes, without worrying about the outer surface. You can see in these pics that it bulges a little and has an irregular shape round the edges!
Once the filling was completely dry, I used a nail file and then a nail buffer (super-fine grain, and flexible!) to smooth out the filling — since I was going to be applying gold over the whole claw, I didn’t need to be concerned about damaging the finish around the repaired area! It made more sense to strip the whole side of that claw and then reapply gold smoothly; any ‘leftover’ from the old paint would’ve made it lumpy, and shiny surfaces show lumps!
Claws all nicely apoxie-filled, and the filling filed down as evenly as I can get it:

Tail, with chipped scaletip rebuilt (I dabbed a bit of emerald-ish paint over the apoxie, to minimize any color difference that might show through the gold):
For the chip inside the eye socket, I didn’t attempt any resculpting; it was so deep that it doesn’t show except when viewing the dragon from almost directly beneath, and I was more afraid of getting apoxie crud on the eyeball/face. Instead, I went with camouflage – I mixed up a close match for the paint and painted over the exposed gypsum.

This thread had been a double edged sword for me. I have LOVED seeing everyone’s collections, seeing the diversity among the same sculpt has been fascinating…BUT – it has REALLY fed my desire for more test paint unis – especially the male and mother unicorns. pony-up’s collection of mothers HAUNTS me!!! J)
Same here, and it started with the very first conga line of lap dragons! I dont care to admit how many times Ive looked at Pony- up’s line up of mares!

I’m delighted seeing all these beautiful one-sculpt collections… but I agree, it sure does make me long for more test paints! Only one of my Laps is a test color, so I sympathize with your “but… I want MORE!” feelings! 😀 You can have the test paint unis; just give me all the test paint Laps! (And miraculously make me able to afford them.) Maybe a test paint Kirin or two, too – I missed the Collie Kirins on Ebay, but I really like them and would love for there to be more.
It’s my greatest wish that this thread become a staple, like the “Show Your Collection” thread. Keep on posting those conga lines, people! I want to come back every time my line expands, to post new pictures!
