That’s interesting – for this quest, YouTube is still not an option (I’ll need to investigate both YouTube’s policies and any rules about the free program for legality plus make sure the process works on my machine), but I’ll keep that in mind if we do another video contest. 🙂 Thanks!
Couple of things since I’m getting a lot of the same questions:
1.) Google drive is fine – as long as I can pull the file down (download it), I’m happy. YouTube won’t work because I can’t download it from there, but whatever else that works for you guys is okay as long as I can access it.
2.) I’m not able to access a desktop regularly right now (holidays!) so it makes it hard for me to answer questions quickly. Please check the original posts/thread/Ts and Cs if you have questions as it will clarify a lot of general ones (file size, video lengths, dates, etc).
3.) I don’t know anything about video editing. 🙂 I usually have a pool of folks I can work with on questions, but they are all on vacation until next year, so I’d recommend Google and the forum if you need help figuring something out as I’m mostly worthless (and Google is the only way I’d have of answering your questions without my normal point people!) 🙂
4.) I just need your video or video link and your forum name in the entry emails. Too much additional information can be very confusing. If you have other questions, please send a separate email or PM me.
5.) If there is something wrong with your entry (for the videos) I will tell you. I don’t normally do this because there are too many entries, but since these require a higher level of effort if you didn’t do something right (and I notice it), I will let you know. Several of you have been requested to fill out the waivers, update files, etc. If you don’t get a notice that you need to send me something else, you’re probably fine.
6.) And finally – due to my limited desktop access, I’m only sending out confirmations every couple of days. Please be patient. I will send out a final batch on 1/1 (since all the entries are due then) and if there is a problem, you will be allowed to fix it as long as you do so within a day or two.

It was a dark, almost black color mixed with the purple from the scales – I couldn’t think of any other way to get the fur details to show on the solid black. I was pretty happy with how it came out since antiquing is not my strong point! 🙂
Got my Swap tonight, and Kiya, ‘Twilight’ is the Perfect blend of Halloweenish colors and theme I asked for – I know my ‘ask’ took a little figuring out but you did a great job! 🙂
‘Twilight’ is a Ki-Rin painted in Purple and Black with Orange (eyes); neat ‘Spooky’ dead trees, and even a little Black Bat to complete the scene!
I would have never thought of using a totally different color from the main ones as the antiquing, but the blue worked really well and works nicely with the black and adds a ‘Blue-Violet’ tinge to bring out the scales. I’m really happy with him. 🙂 I’ll post my photos tomorrow so everyone can see.

It’s probably okay as long as it’s not a center of focus. They’d probably have to be pretty picky about that.
Also, *bump* – videos need to come in by end of month so make sure you get them in! 🙂

I got mine, just been very busy with the holiday and my camera is not working. 🙁 If the artist wants to post photos until I can get mine they can! It’s a foo painted like a chow-chow. 🙂

The reason we went to anonymous entries is because some forum members felt they were not getting votes because people did not know them/like them as well as other entrants. If you guys aren’t worried about that, it’s fine with me. I would still ask you not go claim them on the forum outside of the video content – not everyone knows real/forum name correlations so that will help keep everything as neutral as possible.

I was reading through the old quest you guys had when people had to submit a video with tips on painting PYO’s, and it was recommended that people used an online file sharing site to upload their video to, so that it could then be sent in. One site that was recommended was : hightail.com …. so maybe this is how people can send in their videos if they are over the 100MB ?
The file has to be 100MB or less. This is, unfortunately, part of the submission guidelines.
However, I do have an offer from a forum member to help with video editing for folks who are having problems. I will be making a separate post regarding this.
Ah! Okay, all the information was in the extended T&C link. For some reason I thought when you said it had be edited into the original post, I thought you meant it was in the top post of this thread and not the link so I was confused. Sorry if it seemed like I wasn’t reading what you said; it was that I misunderstood the directions. I’m looking forward to making my entry and submitting it to you all. 🙂
I do have one question, though, actually, after reading the rules. What’s an IRS W-9 / W8-BEN form?
It’s a tax form – if you win over a certain dollar amount (more than $600), both you and Windstone are required to file taxes on the prize.
For quests, you aren’t allowed to win more than $600/year to avoid the headache. However, if you were to win a quest and a raffle, it could push you into the realm of requiring tax forms. This is really just a protection for Windstone – so far it hasn’t been an issue.
Okay, so recently some folks and I were discussing video editing software for work so I thought I would share with the group what little I know!
-Windows Movie Maker is free and should already be on most PCs. It’s not very friendly though and can be a PITA to use, so just be aware of that.
-If you own a Mac, iMovie should already be on your OS for free. Also, if you have the latest iPhone it should be on there for free. If you have an iPad, you can apparently buy the app for 4.99. This software is really easy to use; I watched someone create a video on the fly of stuff they filmed in a meeting in under thirty minutes and managed to create a pretty slick film for how easy it was to set up. So yeah.
Kiya, I’m not sure if it was stated what qualities the judges are looking for? Also, are we supposed to email the file directly and you guys will share on the forums so people can vote, or are we supposed to upload to youtube?
I really can’t wait for this. I ordered a fourth gb poad half just so I could participate in this contest. 🙂

The files do need to be under 100MBs – otherwise it is very hard for me to get them. If you can’t get your file below this amount, please send me a PM and I’ll see what options we have.
