They’ve been in the store for awhile now so you might be able to email Susie to get the green light to order more as gifts. I think the purchase limits don’t generally apply in the case of a present, but Susie can confirm for sure. 🙂
But… I’d love some more grab bag ones too! 🙂
Hiya Ms.Melody,I love your sketches and noticed one on Ebay I had never known existed the other day.I am a proud owner of only 2 of your prints and my heart is set on getting one of the mother dragon with babies so I have to ask.Would you ever consider producing them again in a limited number perhaps for us that have missed out on them? I know I am not alone in wanting to collect them.*SQUEEKING*
Possibly maybe perhaps… but it isn’t likely.
We do still have some of these that have been trimmed down for framing. The full sized ones are sold out.Ooh, do you have a male dragon? Any kirins? I don’t care if they’re cut down. 🙂
Has anybody used those soap gel packs in the front loaders with the automatic dispensers? I have been afraid to try one for fear of it getting stuck somewhere before it gets to the clothes and would love to know if anybody has had any experience with them.
I actually use those almost exclusively. You don’t put it in the dispenser at all. Toss it directly in the drum before you put the clothes in, then program your load as normal.
Very nice! Is the gold and purple Male dragon (top photo) a raffle prize?
Looks like violet flame.
No idea if you’re into Steampunk at all, but Clockwork Couture is in Burbank. http://www.clockworkcouture.com/
I’ve used a keyboard vacuum with mixed results. It won’t damage the sculpt, but depending on how dirty it is and how old the dust is, it might not get it clean either. 🙂
There are so cute! I love how you paint them too 🙂
Pesting, pesting…..
Any ETA on Foo Fathers (Foofs), the new KiRins, curlies, and GB dragons?
Sorry to bug, but….
Thanks!
The new kirins are having horn problems (horns didn’t fit – adjustments are being made to the masters to fix it).
GB dragons are a ways out at least. 🙂
No idea about the curlies – I’m surprised we haven’t seen those yet! Same with the father foos and griffities. 🙂
They may not all be grab bags – there was no one around to ask about them, so it’s possible one type or the other are just test paints.
The wing-up dragons were in a different part of the factory and covered, so I wasn’t able to get a good shot of them and didn’t notice they were different than the others. 🙂
If/when it’s decided what to do with these (part of a Kickstarter? Test paints? Grab bag in the store?) I’m sure it will be announced. 🙂
Happy birthday, Sib!!!!! I hope it’s fantastic and stress-free! 🙂
January 10, 2014 at 12:54 am in reply to: 4th Annual Windstone Forum Handmade Holiday Ornament Swap – ***Shipping Time!*** #907598Also, I was stupidly busy over the holidays so I haven’t posted photos, but I got my ornament from Leigha and I love it! Thanks so much!!!
Yay! I’m sorry I didn’t put a hook or ribbon through it, I wasn’t sure where would be a good place, and usually I slap magnets on the back of these so I can put them on my fridge year ’round ^^
Well, he hasn’t gotten a magnet yet, but he did not go into the Christmas box. He’s sitting next to me at my desk 🙂
If Melody doesn’t get someone else to do it sooner, I’ll get her help me pull some progress photos together next time I’m down (feb or march).
The things I’ve seen her use to carve into the gypsum almost look like dental tools to me! If you look at some of the pictures on facebook (I’ll try to find them later) I think you can see some of the sculpts, like the foos, in various states and probably some of the tools on her desk.
I don’t think we can take any photos of the molding process though – Molding and casting are things John hasn’t let me photograph.
She uses a lot of different things depending on the sculpt and the stage it’s in.
Most of the details are carved into a casting of an intermediate version for the sculpt (form, but not detailed).
They make a lot of intermediate casts, then ultimately a master out of a harder material that they use to make the molds from.
I think Melody has said in the past her method is pretty eclectic and likely wouldn’t work well for folks without the access to resources she has.
I think a couple forum members do smaller scale casting (purplecat and Robin come to mind) that might be more helpful than Melody’s method. 🙂
I would email Susie – for a PYO, she would probably mail you another one. 🙂
If it’s totally his fault, you can call and make his insurance cover the rental so you don’t have any out of pocket expenses. I’ve done this in the last two accidents we were in (somehow, I manage to get hit at stop signs and in parking lots a lot…) They’ll just call and confirm with him that he hit you, then they should call and arrange the rental.
Oh really? Interesting, I’ll have to try that! Thanks, I appreciate it! That’s weird though. My insurance company said they were willing to cover a rental, but only as reimbursement, not right away I guess. If insurance companies can arrange and pay for it up front, why won’t mine? 😐 I’ll try tomorrow to see if the other dude’s insurance will.
Mine was the same way! I called my agent first and he said they could cover it eventually, but only after I returned it. He was the one who said I could call the other insurance agency though and generally they would cover it upfront. It was strange, but he was right and it’s worked a couple of times for us.
