This is the first time I remember seeing this, and I don’t have a clue what caused it. We had used the same clear coat for twenty years and I don’t remember experimenting with anything new until recently. We are now using a different clear coat that we feel is superior to the old product, and I know that this switch was too recent to include any of the old Peacocks. Our archived and personal pieces don’t get any direct sun. Could it be long term sun exposure?
July 6, 2013 at 7:58 pm in reply to: Report Windstone Fakes/Knock offs/Infringment Pls read first #899514Yes, that is one of the original ones. Pretty crude isn’t it? And don’t be surprised of the eye paint is coming off the backs of the eyes because we were not yet using fired on glass enamels. There was more like a twenty year gap between these and the old castings that were recently painted.
Seven years! Hard to believe, but I have been watching this: Topics: 33187, Posts: 454357 We getting close to half a million posts.
May 28, 2013 at 1:30 am in reply to: Not sure if someone would like to know, dishonest dealer #897995Thanks to all, especially Dragonfeathers, for jumping on this. They have been a Windstone dealer for quite a while, but I sure don’t want to have him spreading this kind of B.S. and deceit. I see on his site there is a list of conventions that he goes to. An extensive list which I will copy below, just in case he is still doing it, and so, if you guys attend these, you can have some fun with it. Tell him, “Oh really? She’s my sister-in law, I’ll let her know what you had to say” I mean, what the hell, lying to liars is totally OK, right? Meantime, we will decide how to handle it from here.

May 10, 2013 at 12:48 am in reply to: Has Anybody Here Had to Deal (or know someone who has had to deal) With Irritable Bowl Syndrome (IBS)? #897194I was just recovering some information for someone else concerning this. There is a newspaper column that runs weekly called The Peoples Pharmacy and they repeatedly get readers writing in who swear that eating macaroon cookies relieves the symptoms of IBS. Sounds kind of bizarre, but who knows? Also their website claims that enteric coated peppermint oil tablets could do it as well. http://www.peoplespharmacy.com/build/mt-search.cgi?blog_id=1&tag=Irritable%20Bowel%20Syndrome&limit=20
We also have relatives and friends with confirmed celiac disease (gluten intolerance) so I would be very careful with the advice above about eating bread to coat the digestive system. Eliminating all gluten is a very complex problem but, if it was me, I would seriously consider going gluten free for six weeks or more. Gluten derivatives are in more foods than you can imagine and my sister, who has celiac disease, claims it is even found in such odd things as Philadelphia Cream Cheese. If needed I might be able to get a list or a link from her, but a thorough internet search would get you started.
This is Windstone reality internet, isn’t it? Everybody is a safe distance apart, so go ahead and argue your hearts out. It’s as informing and valuable as it is entertaining to us.
Yes, we plan, at some point, to have other staff artists take over some of the grab bag painting, so there should still be regular sales into the future. It is just too unique a business model to give up.
You have now started to argue the price up to $350??? Do I hear $500? This is great, please don’t stop!
I guess I need to get back to work on this. If there was just some way to hang on to them it would help, but the bottoms are an important part of the concept and need to be finished along with the tops so there is really nothing to hold them by.
Sorry about that, I am guessing that Pam needs to do this. Could be tomorrow or Monday.
I haven’t been able to get Patricia to commit to posting artwork in the gallery space. Her illustration art is really great too. And I will have to see about Jordan. She just moved up to Washington and we will see if she can continue to paint. There are a couple of her pieces waiting to go on eBay that are really nice, so I hope she can keep painting for us.
I think my question would be why is it important?
If Melody is going to make more art prints, then it probably makes sense to get her a monitor that has good color matching, but I don’t think you really need them for the other work you’re doing.
For web graphic work, the return on the investment will be very low, IMO. While you can make sure your graphics/photos are color accurate on the color accurate monitor – the accuracy goes right out the window as soon as the photos are displayed on the end user’s screen. Between the variety of CRTs, LCDs, smart phones, tablets, etc that people use to view the items, they aren’t going to see the color accuracy anyway. I have four different devices I use to visit the site, and photos look TOTALLY different on all of them.
What you see on a color accurate screen is what the _least_ number of your users will see, so it’s actually quite misleading as to the user experience for your actual audience. If anything, you’re better off with a moderate, consumer-grade monitor so you have a more accurate view of what your users will be seeing and can optimize for that.
One reason it is important is that we are now painting one-of-a-kind pieces that we cannot archive and, unless we create a color accurate file, we will have no true record of the piece. I try to keep the camera tuned to a very close profile but, without a reference monitor, there is no good way to verify it. Another reason is for the very thing that you point out about the average user monitor. Unless the files are corrected on a reference monitor you don’t have any objective standard for color and it could be absolutely horrible when corrected on one low end monitor and viewed on another. We can, if need be, easily take an accurate file and apply a profile to make it view better on a low end monitor (whatever display technology is currently in vogue).
Multiple images that are not corrected to a very tight standard are nothing but a nightmare when printed together. And some day we will get around to publishing many of these photos.
As far as I know the peanuts we buy new are made from corn starch, or maybe potato starch and you can send them to the land-fill with a clean conscience, compost them or whatever you want, but we do sometimes use plastic peanuts that we receive in shipments.
So, if they are a different color, don’t dissolve, or don’t smell like food. I wouldn’t feed them to anything.
We had talked about maybe releasing the old Gothic Unicorn as a PYO, but I am not sure that we will ever want to mix our finished pieces with PYO’s. So, no serious plans yet. As for the production of unicorns in general, it just had to be left as a low priority until we had better production of the more essential pieces. We are still way behind, but starting to catch up, so resumed production is somewhere out on the horizon.
When did this happen? Seems like all the young people I talk to now hate talking on the phone. How many of you guys are like that?
