Thanks for submitting all your concerns and “bugs” you find! There will surely be quite a few as we migrate platforms entirely. This is sort of like switching to a Windows PC after you’ve used a Mac your whole life… some things are going to take some tweaking, and some things will just take some getting used to!

For the time being I am not a “mod”, until all of the stuff at the back end is done. So I apologize, but I am temporarily unable to fix or adjust things.

You didn’t buy her direct from Windstone, did you? I imagine not, if she was not properly packaged.
No need to get a bunch of testors or any model paints, they are usually not the right kind to use anyhow. Golden paints are very good to use but are a bit expensive if you are only going to use a tiny amount on this one repair. Contact service@windstoneeditions.com or susie@windstoneeditions.com to let them know what you are looking for and they can point you in the right direction so that you only buy the few colors that you need. Sometimes they have a bit extra that they can send you, too.

The load times on the forum are borderline unbearable. I often give up and come back 10 minutes later and things still aren’t loaded, or my comments posted. It’s very off-putting, I hope you guys get it figured out soon!

I second this. I’m sorry that PYO’s are not money makers, but they are all I can really afford. I look at each PYO I buy as an investment. I am a skilled enough artist that I can paint them exactly as I want them to be.

Airbrushed production pieces, and other factory pieces are too simple in my opinion. I like detail. All airbrushed pieces I have, or have seen up close are too simple, and (dare is say this…”Too sloppy”). *ducks head from flying heavy objects* …Yikes!
I think that Airbrushing really detracts from the amazing potential the sculpts themselves hold. Although, in some rare cases, simpler coloration’s really do SHOW OFF the details of Melody’s sculpts in the right instance. But, unfortunately…most often, I feel a little disappointed once I see them in-hand.

I know, there has to be a delicate balance to maintain between labor, and profit in the Factory; If all pieces were as richly painted as some manually brushed special items and PYO’s have been done, the prices paid would be more worthy.

Maybe I am too much of a perfectionist….I don’t know. I am just being honest.

Yikes. Well, if everything were hand-brushed (or a combo of airbrushed and hand-brushed), the prices would have to be extremely high to offset labor time invested.

Alternatively, Windstone could make more PYO pieces but increase the price on them to better reflect the costs of running a business, but I think people would be upset about that, too.

Anyhow, this isn’t to start a debate over airbrushed vs. not airbrushed, let’s keep voting on what we want to see from this chicken. 🙂 Chickens are good. Everyone needs a chicken.

I absolutely loved the raptor. Did you make the tail for it too?

I did, thank you! I made all the ‘accessories’, with exception to the fantastic clothing on the raven. I can’t make tooled leatherwork!

Was it articulated? I tried to do an articulated tail for mine and failed miserably. I’m try to find somebody who I could commission for just the core articulation or to teach me how. It is absolutely beautiful!

Not at all! It’s just stuffed with a single acrylic rod down it to give it rigidity and a bit of bounce. I don’t have the time and energy to do articulation. It looks awesome when its done right though!

I went to the dentist for my 6 month cleaning and checking and after that the dentist comes in to take a look and the first thing he said was – you have an infected tooth – he sent me to a Endodontic for a root canal. then back to him for checking, the to still another specialist for the crown UGH. I can’t believe every dentist does a little part. The only other root canal I have had was about 40 years ago and my regular dentist did the whole thing from start to finish. My dentist is as bad as my PCP dr. both do practically nothing but send me to a specialist for whatever.

Our dentist still does everything from start to finish. I’m sorry that you are having to deal with this. I hate going through the doctor hassle with PCPs and referrals and so on.

I misspelled Endodontics by accidentally putting a 5 in it isn’t there an “edit” at the bottom anymore so we can fix errors like this?

I see it for this comment but not for the one about my root canal

I found the “edit” for the first comment at the top so I could correct the spelling

Yes, the first post on a new thread has the edit button at the top (for whatever reason). This has always been this way.

All comment replies have their edit button below the reply. 🙂

Jennifer, what type of paint did you use on the spandex gloves? Any particular mediums used in addition to the paint? I ask because I’m working on humanoid rat hands/toes for a costume for next week and want to add shading and definition to the ‘skin’.

I’ll post pictures after con. It’s a known character, but I’ll wait until I post photos (or drag0nfeathers will beat me to it… I’m behind in getting anything posted online anywhere :P).

I’ve seen video of Qaw in action. Wonderfully portrayed corvid! I love your masks! I need an excuse to make a dino, bird, or griffin of some sort. Maybe NYCC or something…

Was it the Dark Crystal video? That one went viral! I saw it on facebook.

I find that the golden acrylics (Same ones I use on Windstones) adhere the best. If I need to thin them I use airbrush medium, especially since it can be used on fabric and is very flexible.

Astounding! Did Vantid end up with the raven head?

The raven’s owner actually specifically requested to remain anonymous!

Wow those bird masks are really cool! I like how they painted their arms too to look like bird legs.

Those are actually shoulder length gloves I made/painted to look like scaly bird legs.

I am not a furry, but I did grow up being inspired by Jim Henson and always wanted to make masks and costumes (they are essentially puppets you can use anywhere, right??). So, I like to make realistic bird masks! Some people consider these “fursuits”… and that’s okay, but I’d probably be making these even if the concept of furries didn’t exist. 🙂

I have a gallery of some of them here: http://featherdust.com/masks/

Here’s a fantasy raven I made (the clothing I did NOT make on this one) for a client:

                                A bearded vulture (lammergeier):

                                A dromaeosaur (raptor):

                                A Short-Eared Owl:

A video demonstrating the jaw movement on an osprey mask I made for a client, before shipping it off:

I don’t want to get spammy so please feel free to view my website to see the rest.

The forum has been slow and buggy; this is completely unrelated to the (new) store as our new store runs on a totally different platform and has been separated off entirely for now.

If you are seeing bugs in the forum or the rest of the site (other than the store) please help us out by reporting them here: http://windstoneeditions.com/forum/bug-reporting

Feel free to comment on this thread about any problems you are encountering on the store, though!
