Wheeheeheee we have snow! Which is the very reason I love and hate Alberta. It’s cold as heck, but the snow is pretty and oh so much fun! And I hate the heat more then I hate cold (only so many layers you can remove without getting arrested, but you can always put on another layer).
That and it’s gorgeous country in Northern Alberta. I miss seeing stars at night though. If Colin (the fiancee) gets a permanent contract in Cold Lake, I will move up there no problem. City life just isn’t for me. I need to see the stars, and I need the night to be dark. Nothing more peaceful then a walk at midnight in the middle of December, where it’s just you, the trees, the animals (if there are any), the crunch of snow under your boots, and the stars.
Ah yes… the first major snowfall of the season… 🙂 The cold doesn’t bother me that much, you can always add more layers, even if you end up resembling a walking snowman 😛 , and by the time I get tired of the cold, a Chinnok will roll in 😀 . I agree with you on the heat, high twenties is about as warm as I can stand. 😀
Of course with the snow comes all the stupid drivers who have forgotten how to drive in the stuff and the people who don’t shovel their sidewalks, but it also means everything is so pretty, especially now that the Christmas lights as being turned on and the LEDs that don’t melt the snow glow so pretty when they are buried, And it’s time for Outdoor ice skating and tobogganing! There were several groups of kids out on the hills in my neighborhood last night and the dog likes to roll on the hard packed snow.
I can see the stars from my place (inner city), not as well as outside the city, but at least I can see them. And sometimes we get Northern Lights that we can see in the city as well. I love when that happens 🙂Wow, there are alot of Northern Albertans here. I feel kinda left out being the only Southerner….

Duct tape on the hood and god forbid, a child seat in the driver side. 🙄 All of this in a nice Wal-Mart parking lot seeting.
I didn’t notice the child seat in the black car 😮 😮 😮
Though really is there any room for a kiddie seat in a corvette? My Aunts didn’t have a back seatI have two favorites.
The First is when I dressed up as an Amazon/Pirate, Tan “Leather” Front Laced Bodice with nothing underneath, Black Leggings, Turquoise sash, whip, dagger (couldn’t get my mitts on a sword) and lots of jewelry. Best part was flooring all my friends (and their boyfriends) since I just don’t do sexy, tight stuff. XD
Second when I was Belle from Beauty and the Beast. I love the movie and dressed up as Belle in her blue village outfit. Even had a basket with a pile of books in it. Wore it to work one year and just *had* to make a stop at the disney store too XD Wore that one many times over the years.Oh those poor cars…. 😥
I’m not super car affictionado but I can appreciate something that has nice lines. Always had a thing for Vipers and the new corvette stingray id nice too…. 😳A tip for the person who was doing this….
Try out your stuff on a model car first 😛Serenity wrote:A Phoenix painted like a turkey!!! 😀 lol

I live in Calgary, in Southern Alberta and love it here. I grew up in the city and after living on Vancouver Island for awhile, moved back for a number of reasons. Here were get all four seasons, though not always in order XD . Spring and Fall are the shortest but summers are warm with out being hot (it rarely breaks 30C, 90F) and we get cold winters, not as much snow as I’d like 🙁 , but we also get Chinooks that roll in and warm everything up periodically, so we aren’t in the deep freeze all the time. My family is here and most of my friends. The economy isn’t too bad, but the cost of living is high, especially when you consider our dollar is almost at parity. What I like most is that it may be a big city (near 1 million) but there still is a generally friendly feel to the area. We have huge wild areas/parks within city limits and lots to do. There is also lots of hiking, fishing camping up in the mountains which is only about a hour drive away. I lived on Vancouver Island for awhile and loved the west coast rainforest and hiking but hated the fact that it rained. It would start about early October and rain pretty much constantly until late March early April. I missed the cold and snow. And the activities (other than hiking) were pretty limited, not to mention having to go far to get even the basics. I’ve thought about moving east for work but the thought of huge cities like Toronto scares me. No offence to the Americans, but I doubt I would ever move south unless there was a VERY good reason.

Has there been any decision on this? I really think we should, even if it’s just a double handful of us 🙂
Just asking ’cause my fingers is itching to do stuff 8) and (since I am Canadian) I would need to have my stuff in the mail by Dec 8 (according to the post office) or earlier (my preference) so it makes it to my swapee before Christmas.twindragonsmum wrote:twindragonsmum 😀 :snappy:

All the kids look great too!! 😀
I have gone as a renassance maiden/wench (made from a bodice I had, a period shirt and one of my every day black skirts) for the last few years. Had lots on trick or treaters tell me they liked my costume this year 🙂 No pics though. For some reason I never seem to take pics of me 😆Obstetrician!?!? XD
