+—————–+————–+———-+————+—————–+Oh my!! Look at all those old warriors! Congratulations 🙂
Who is in the front, second from the left?
That’s the Brushfire Old Warrior
After making an 11 hour round trip to pick him up I finally have a brown emperor.
Got one of each, glad I just randomly went to the site on my phone.
It seems like some people accidentally got assigned to the same dragons.
I actually had originally chosen T9 but it was also given to someone else.
They shipped in backer number order so I switched to T6.
After I did Melody messaged me that it was also double claimed but since I had the lower backer number I ended up getting it.You should probably email Susie to get things straightened out. Before it turned out that I had the lower backer number Melody offered to paint another tiger dragon for me.
Here is my pair. The original of 103 and T6.
They’ll both be staying with me for sure.I’ll try to answer all the questions.
The pale old warrior is Mountain Frost. Similar to blue ice, but I think a little paler
The big dragon at the very bottom of the pictures is a 1/6th scale Drogon from Game of Thrones based on his size at the end of season 5 or 6.
As for the shelves, they’re part of the PAX wardrobe system from Ikea.
Each shelf has a section of metal U bracket on the front and back edge for reinforcement.
Then I covered each shelf in black felt and added the lighting.
The wiring for each light runs through a metal channel attached to the bottom of the shelf and out the back where it connects to a backbone wire to supply power. All the soldering, wiring, and upholstery kept me busy for a couple weeks during the quarantine.
Several new additions the last couple weeks so I figured I’d put up pictures of the whole collection
The second old warrior is mountain frost. He’s an ebay test paint from a couple years ago. The photo makes his purple highlights stand out more than they do in person. Normally he looks very blue with just subtle purple highlights.
There’s a few other ebay or OOAK old warriors in the lineup as well.
Also yes, the emperor on the left is silver. I think he’s from before there was an intentional split between the silvery and intense black versions though.
A couple of mine.
I use the big PAX wardrobes from Ikea.
I replaced the plastic pegs that the shelves sit on with metal ones that screw into the peg holes.
I also used some metal shelving brackets to reinforce each shelf. There are sliding door frames that you can attach to the wardrobe frame and I bought some custom cut acrylic panels to put into the frame so the doors are one large clear piece instead of divided into sections.
Ikea also sells light strips that fit the shelves perfectly.
Before that I had them in Billy bookcases with the clear glass doors that attach to them.
I don’t think the issue was whether the backer would have them picked out, rather it was whether they would be available and respond quickly. It also depends on windstone being able to see backer numbers. I’ve never been on that side of a kickstarter so I don’t know if that information is available. If it isn’t then they need to instruct people to forward the backer confirmation which can cause it’s own set of issues.
The windstone crew is already putting in a ton of effort to paint more dragons to try and make sure everyone gets something they like and I’m sure they’ll take all the issues we’ve seen so far into account when they start letting people, myself included, choose from the new batches.
Melody’s reasoning for using the message system makes sense since she didn’t want the first backers taking a long time to decide and holding up the process for everyone else. If the messaging system hadn’t gone down there wouldn’t be so much grief going around. This is definitely an unusual use of the kickstarter message system so it isn’t too surprising their were issues but it’s not terrible to think that a global system would be able to handle that. It definitely handles having hundreds or thousands of people submitting pledges in a short time frame without an issue. The best thing to do at this point is to just learn from it and change the process for the future.
I got #103, someone else must have claimed #104.
