I AM worried about a loss on my investment. Some of the prettiest Fantasy Unis from the last batches have not gone for this much on ebay.
Without a choice between Fantasy/Safari, the risk of getting safari (do not want), combined with the price, is a total dealbreaker.
I’m trying really hard to respect Windstone’s decision on the pricing, but it’s hard not to feel completely suckerpunched.
The only place I can find ANY number being thrown out, is when a member speculated they might be up to $300. Windstone never had anything to say on the matter, that I could find anyway–and I looked because I was trying to figure out how much to budget.
It took me 10 full minutes to accept that the price wasn’t a typo.
I know the old price was $100 something, and I knew they’d get more expensive, so I had $200 saved up. But this is far out of my price range…I really, really, really hope the grab bag dragon batch is cheaper, because I want one of those badly but if they’re anything like this, I need to let that go….
I do believe the last batch was either $160 or $180. I can’t really spend double that, even if I got to hand-pick my favorite out of the batch. Much, much love, but weren’t the GB items meant to be for people who can’t afford ebay pieces?
I’m not sure when Windstone decides the sale price (I FULLY RESPECT your need to make a profit off of the work done!!!!!), but if I had known the price was going up so much ahead of time, before seeing so many I would be thrilled to have, it wouldn’t have been such a letdown when I ran to the breakroom computer to place an order.
I knew the sale price on this batch was going to be higher since the designs are so beautiful, but I have sticker shock now that this batch has been stocked.
This is _far_ out of my price range–I’ve been keeping an eye out the last weeks for a possible range to save for. Did I miss it being mentioned somewhere?
So torn, this batch is so gorgeous but I don’t have an ‘ebay’ budget, which is why I so look forward to GB items. Each of these is beyond exquisite… aaah wat do!!
Be careful about long-term storage of the biodegradable starch peanuts though. They’re a food source to little beetles and moth larvae. I NEVER store that stuff in my house anymore, unless it’s in a sealed, super heavy-duty bag. I have found ‘hitch-hikers’ in the packages I open that are packed with these!
I went went went! Just finished my order, thanks!
😉
Thank you so much! I’ve gotten a lot of messages already @_@
FINALLY got a chance to take some photos of this guy! I think his pattern is gorgeous but I’m not as fond of ice blue. 🙂 So he’s up for trade, I made an ad.
Sorry for you all who hate complementary colors, I just couldn’t resist putting him against orange to show the blues. They are pretty dang accurate on my monitor! XD
You’re fine to use this pic for the gallery, Hannah!
Loving this thread. 🙂 Keep the pics coming when you can!
Love it! 😀
What color is that little one between the Sand and the Ruby?
It’s an ebay piece, Summer Pearl. P.S. painted her. I feel so lucky to have won her. 🙂
I was working on an cool project at work, but things change fast in the entertainment industry, and now the movie we’re currently converting to 3D won’t go into theaters. Poop.
I’m under an NDA so I can’t even tell you what it is. Hdfhjdksfhfh BOOOOOO.
DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPLESSSSSSSSSS
😀
– Respond to PMs. Even if it’s just to say “I got your PM, I need a little time to think about it.” Even if it’s just to say “No thank you.” Especially if so! It’s irritating to not get an answer about something.
– If someone’s given you a firm ‘no’ about a trade, leave it be.
– Once a trade is made, SHIP PROMPTLY. Nothing is worse than shipping your half with a tracking number, and then the other person waits days or even weeks to bother sending their part of the trade. We’ve all known of trades that go sour or people who get ripped off, and waiting too long to ship half of a trade makes the other party feel like they might be the next cautionary tale. It’s stressful. Don’t do it to people.
– Probably one of the biggest faux pas– don’t back out on trades. Don’t commit to something until you REALLY know for sure. A change of heart is frustrating for the other party. If a backout happens, try to make it up to that person asap. (Coming from directly doing it myself, which was poopy, trust me. I still feel sad about it.)
– Lastly, remember that nothing is certain till the piece you wanted is on your shelf. I’ve had all kinds of trades not work out. It’s disappointing, but remembering this has helped me have a great time trading GB Unis.
🙂
I’d say it’s not harassing either.
If you post a photo of your GBB on this public forum space, IMO you should assume you might get a PM or two from members who also love the one you got.
A simple response of “No thank you, I really like this one and would like to keep it” is really all you need to send back to such PMs. And you can always post such a disclaimer when you post your photo. People seem to be mostly respectful of such requests.
If the person you just firmly said ‘no’ to continues to ask after that, ignore them.
I have had situations where I PMd the owner a couple times after they said ‘no’, because it was a tentative ‘no’. I ended up being able to get the piece I wanted eventually, but I was careful to ask politely and NOT OFTEN!
I have a piece that another member really likes, and she PMs me to ask about it every so often. Because she’s really polite about it (and I too gave a tentative ‘no’), it doesn’t bother me at all.
