Well, you know what they say… when it rains, it pours.  So I’m driving back to New Mexico when pretty much at the halfway mark, my car dies. Dies. Completely dies.  On I-20.  Smack dab in the middle of four lanes of interstate traffic.

I had to try and keep my wits about me and not panic. I hit the hazard button and called 911 to get the troopers out with their little flashing lights so no one rammed me from behind.

And of course there are those who will flip you off and honk at you because you OBVIOUSLY wanted to stall out on the middle of the interstate.

The troopers were fantastic and pushed my car with theirs off the interstate and directly to a gas station where I waited for a tow truck.

Can’t tow it to a mechanic, as it’s late and tomorrow is Sunday. So now it’s me, the dog, and a broken down down car stuck at a Motel 6 in Fort Worth for probably at least 2 days until my boyfriend can get here with a trailer.   I keep telling myself that everything happens for reason.  *head desk*

Thank you all so very much.  I am healing quickly.  I’m just working through some emotions right now.  I still have my follow up at the end of the week and then I drive back to NM.

Well, I actually now have some bad news to post.  I went in for my ultrasound this week, and there was no heartbeat.  Based on size, it seems I miscarried about 2 weeks before.  🙁

This changed my whole visit.  Because I was supposed to head back to NM, they gave me Cytotec to pass everything while I was still in town instead of dealing with this for who knows how long without access to the birth center.  Let’s just say it was a pretty painful night (all night), as pain killers don’t work well for me and they just make me nauseous… so I didn’t take any.  It lasted until morning, and I was still not done.

I did pass a good bit, but the problem was I bleeding very heavily.  I lost A LOT OF BLOOD.  So much so I had to break the news to my mom (who didn’t know anything) and have her take me in before I passed out.  I had lost so much blood they sent me directly to Women’s Hospital and was prepped IMMEDIATELY for a D&C.  They removed the rest of the lodged tissue (which has also stopped the bleeding) and I am now MUCH BETTER.  Let’s just say it’s been quite an experience.  I kicker will be the bill.  I don’t have insurance.  They supposedly worked something out with the doctor that treated me, so we shall see.  Fingers crossed.

If anything good came from this, it’s the fact that I now have one hospital I like.  I don’t care much for hospitals, but they treated me very well.  They tended to me immediately and were very personable and caring.  Also, lots of warm toasty blankets!  I was quite impressed… and that’s saying something.

We’ll most likely try again.  Once we are actually married and a bit more settled.  The nurses definitely want me too.  LOL

    Hi, Mika!

They really don’t have to be exact.   I use pp6, pp8, pp12, and pp18.  That is roughly 1.3mm, 1.5mm, 1.9mm, and 2.5mm.  The smaller ones just sit deeper in the holes (the really small holes I place gems in probably aren’t even meant for gems). You could easily use the sizes you have chosen.  🙂

I am so so sorry for your loss.  You definitely do NOT have to “move on”.  I lost all 4 of my pack within 14 months.  By the time I let the last one go, I was completely numb.  That year was complete hell.

I was very lucky for the first 3 and had doggie hospice come to my house.  The vet gave me all the time I needed.  She was awesome and really respected the bond between pet and owner.  The exception was for the last one.  She was with my Mother-in-Law at the time and was taken in to a different vet.  It was happening so fast, and I wanted to yell, “WAIT!”  It was very rushed, and I definitely felt the difference.  It was very cold and impersonal.  No respect for the bond.

From what it sounds like, they did not give you enough time.  This could explain your vision of her being ripped away.  I agree with Jennifer.  Writing or drawing can help with the grieving process.  I still have a doggie alter, complete with pictures, gemstones, and incense.  It took about 4 years to “heal” before I even considered getting another pet.  It’s better now, but I still miss them (and sometimes still cry).  You will always miss them, because that’s what it means to have such a strong bond.  And yes, when people tell you to move on, it makes one angry.  Then I realized something… I started to pity these people because they’ve never experienced such a strong bond with an animal before.  I really do pity them.

Take time to grieve.  It’s hard, and it really sucks dealing with the pain, but allow yourself this.  There were times in the first year with my new boy, Butch, that I felt guilty.  Not just loss, but guilt.  Guilty for getting a new dog, guilty for STILL crying over my gone pack, guilty for wondering if I did something wrong.  It was messy, but I realized these were emotions that I had to face.  I still hold vigil for my pack, Butch sometimes at my side.  The pack was the pack, and Butch is Butch.  You can never replace them.  All you can do is just start a new chapter (when you’re ready).  Realizing this has helped quite a bit.

There are many animal lovers here.  Do not be afraid to ask for help!

Yeah!  I really hope you find him a great home if you don’t keep him.  🙂

Some random ones: Jet, Onyx, Sable, Coal, Warlock, Spike… He’s very cute (and look at those giant ears!)!

I also love Coal.  Great minds think alike!  🙂

Onyx, Obsidian (Sid for short), Ebony, Coal, Pitch (as in pitch black), Shadow

If I had a black kitty I would have to name him Kuro (named for the demon cat in Blue Exorcist)  😀

    Thanks, guys!  🙂

My biggest thing now is figuring out if/when I’m going to move.  I will probably need to find another place to live.  Living at 8400 feet off-grid on the side of a mountain where emergency vehicles can’t get to is NOT a place for a pregnant woman!  LOL

There’s a lot that needs to be sorted out, but most of it will need to come one day at a time.

Well, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to post this under the Heck Yeah! thread or here.  Since this is probably going to complicate my already really complicated life (and wasn’t planned), I figured it should be here.

    Turns out I’m pregnant.

in reply to: What else do you collect? -Besides Windstones #1521553

    books
    rocks, gemstones, fossils
    art supplies
I’ve parted with most of my anime (hard to do)

Since I live in an earthship, I have plants everywhere.
I have about 8 different colors of geraniums.
My new obsession is carnivorous plants! >:)

I’d post some pics, but I would have to fight with photobucket. *grimace*
