Thank you, Hannah! I love working with contrast, and the fact that you noticed gives me a big happy.
Sasha, I am so very glad you love him! While the wolves are not my favorite sculpt, I find I enjoy painting them the most. 🙂
Yes, the green one. I’ll fess. I own him. He matches the decor in my living room. 🙂 He was a my-life-sucks-right-now purchase. LOL.
…and I bought a new gargoyle gecko at the reptile expo… and pre-ordered BROM new art book… haven’t told the hubby how much any of this cost me. XD
And I still don’t feel better yet… so when are the big rock dragons coming out? I can’t afford another eBay piece, but I would really love to have an LP version of the big guy. A nice orange/copper color would pick up the other accents in my living room nicely.

Here are a few pics from Red Fuzzy’s visit. 🙂
At first, Red Fuzzy thought he had been sent to the wrong address and totally freaked out. No matter where he looked, he could not find any Windstones. I gave him some chocolate to calm him down and explained that my Windstones, like the flat fuzzies, are also on vacation. Well, there was ONE Windstone here that he could meet. She just got out of surgery and was recovering before she could join the others. I asked if he wanted to stop by her recovery room and pay her a visit. He very excitedly said, “YES!!” So here he is giving Big Momma a get well hug.
The next morning we headed out for a quick little tour. We stopped at the Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center and walked the trails. I even let him inch along the boardwalk and explore a bit.
We drove through LSU campus and stopped by Mike the Tiger’s cage. Mike was in his usual sleeping spot (Red Fuzzy was not impressed). I assured him that Mike is usually quite active and engages in typical tiger play (especially when Mr. Darrel is visiting), but I think he was more impressed with the brickwork.
Next we drove past The 13th Gate, and he begged me to get him inside. I told him it was a Saturday and the off season. If anyone was there, they would be busy building sets. Plus I didn’t want anyone mistaking him for some kind of prop, like an intestine, and leaving him in one of the scenes.
The last stop was the Old State Capital building. Do fuzzies growl?? I swear he did. He was quite miffed that there was so much traffic and construction. I promised him we would still get a pic, so we drove around to the side of the building.
Now he is resting with my pack and will head out to Pennsylvania tomorrow. 🙂
Red fuzzy has landed!
We are going over the itinerary. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate tomorrow. 🙂
Thanks, everyone, for your wonderful comments! 🙂
Oh, I did cry (this really was the final straw). My poor hubby had called to say he had gotten off of work early and was coming home only to hear me answer the phone like a blubbering child. LOL. And then the anger kicked in… that’s when I decided to fix her.
Kyrin, I find she had more of a yellow tint. I used raw sienna and raw umber (Golden brand). I drybrushed the raw sienna in layers. It looked bad at first, but I kept adding layers and it matched pretty well. I antiqued in black or raw umber depending on the spot. Sometimes I would add a little raw umber to the raw sienna for drybrushing if the spot only needed a little bit of a highlight. I couldn’t use just the raw sienna for highlighting the dark areas. It’s too transparent and looked really horrid in thin layers. Occasionally, I would add a tiny bit of white to the raw sienna if I wanted to highlight an edge (like the lip). I made the mistake of using an opaque white… WAY to sickly and chaulky. Switched to zinc white (transparent) and it worked much better.
I basically alternated between layers of drybrushing and antiquing until I got the color I wanted… a lot of back and forth. I know there can be variations in factory paint jobs and with different brands of paint, so I hope this helps some. I HATE matching paint. 😛

Congrats! He’s a beauty! 🙂
Thanks all! It was a little intimidating at first. In fact, the hubby said he was actually proud that I dove right in and didn’t give up (I was REALLY upset when I first pulled her out of the box… REALLY UPSET… LOL).
I couldn’t wait until tomorrow. I had to finish her tonight. I am very pleased with how she turned out.
If your address is listed correctly, it’s probably the post office. :stare:
