Sorry if the swearing offended, I guess I should have posted a warning on that. Guess I also like to swear on occasion, haha! I dont mind colorful language, as long as its in the right context and it isnt spoken around minors or those who would take offence πŸ˜‰ (common sense lol)

I did find this story thought provoking, and I also wondered what happened next. I think the cleaners are all going to show up, and also get ‘eaten’ by these uglies. And I think she just by chance came across these creatures, and took it upon herself to try and keep them away from people. In a way, I think there is a deeper meaning as well. I think it is also saying that no matter how beautiful one is on the outside, that one may still be “ugly” (be infected by an Ugly) if that person is mean, or has no conscious or empathy etc. Which is so very true ! On the opposite hand, many people also become even more beautiful when their personalities shine through πŸ˜€

Sorry for your loss πŸ™ Loosing a pet is so very hard, and making the decision to let them go can make it even harder. The guilt for me was the hardest part to deal with since I lost my girl.

Just remember you gave him the best life, surrounded by love. And making this final decision was the ultimate act of kindness. (Thats what my vet told me, in a sympathy card she had sent me. It meant a lot, and helped me deal with the loss some)

Just wanted to also offer my condolences on your loss. Loosing a pet is so very hard. I couldnt read this entire thread, it just brought back too many bad emotions for me, as I lost my girl as well. Its been over a year now, but I still find it hard at times.

Just know you gave Gandalf the best life, and that he will always be with you in spirit πŸ™‚

Hello! Another Canadian, yey! I live in Calgary, Alberta. Isn’t it fun stalking ebay and the forums here for pieces and pictures and getting ideas for painting pieces? I love it. I started buying a piece or two off ebay a couple years ago and then found this website and now have a curio case full of sculptures I never thought I would have! They are all so lovely though! Sorry to hear about your dog. It’s always tough losing an animal. My border collie passed away a few years ago from cancer and we haven’t been able to have a dog since because we rent now. We do have lots of kitties though, some I posted pics of in another thread. If you miss having a pet, there are always other lovely pets in need of rescuing from shelters or classifieds and things that would love to fill your home with love! My mom has always rescued cats and dogs and our most recent cat rescue has 4 adorable kittens! How do you like Nova Scotia? I have never been there but heard it’s really nice!

Hello fello Canuck ! πŸ˜‰ How is yah eh ? LOL !!

Yeah, I love browsing ebay, not only for color ideas, but for buying chances as well, LMAO! I totally love windstone ! It feels so good to be interested in something again, it feels like Christmas to me right now, with all my new paints and such, all waiting to be used πŸ™‚

Sorry to hear about your border collie, they are beautiful dogs. And I agree, loosing a pet is always tough, it is just like loosing a family member. They are like kids that never grow up. I have always had pets, from lizards to whites tree frogs, and a gerbil and multiple snakes. I was into the aquarium hobby big at one time, with 10 tanks on the go at once, with my biggest being a 55 gallon, and one being a tropical marine tank. I spent every weekend doing water changes, and even bred and sold certain species that were at one time hard to come by around here. (I even moderated an aquarium hobbyist forum for a few years, lots of fun, and time consumming, lol !)

Im am like you though, and I rent. I have always rented, and after my girl passed, I decided to move closer to work and friends. I only picked that apartment to begin with as it allowed dogs, and it wasnt the greatest place to live. Now I live in a wonderful apartment, I absolutely love it here, but alas, Im not allowed cats or dogs. Im not sure on other pets though. Someday I may like to get a corn snake again, they are so gorgeous and easy to care for. Fish I love, and I may ahve a tank again someday πŸ˜‰ But for now, Im enjoying the freedom, not having to come back home to feed or tend to a pet is kinda nice πŸ˜‰ I can go home (where I am initially from) to Cape Breton and not be in rush to get back.

Its cool your Mom rescues cats and dogs. I always tell people thats the best place to get a new pet from. They deserve a second chance at life, and all they want is a human to love! They were abandoned and dumped by someone, usually for no good reason. So why not give them the second chance they deserve.

Nova Scotia is great! Its beautiful here. Im in the City of Halifax, and its so pretty here, lots of trees and such all through the city. Im from a small town in Cape Breton, and always considered myself a country girl, until I moved to the city…. now I love the city ! This one at least! LOL! Its cool you live in Calgary, I bet its really nice there as well πŸ˜‰

The PYO swap does sound interesting, but not sure if Id be ready for that by September πŸ˜‰ My first few PYO’s Im sure I will want to keep for myself πŸ˜› But eventually I would love to partake in the swap.

Dark Souls II is an awesome game, I do have it, but havent played it much. A friend of mine is into it big time, and since I hang out at his place a lot, I watch him play this a lot, LOL! I really enjoy watching him play this game, it is an awesome world to explore, and some of the creatures, especially the dragons, are so cool looking. Since I watch him play it so much, I didnt bother getting into it myself, I just watch him, lol !

I tend to jump around a bit from game to game. I was into Diablo III big time, love that game. Beat it the first time through, but still want to go through it again in the harder levels. I started messing with Plants VS Zombies, and got hooked, so I played that till I beat it. And I was into Lego The Hobbit and Lego Lord of the Rings, but havent had much time to play lately. I need a month or 2 off of work, so I can just chill and sit home and play more, LMAO !

No, that wonΒ΄t happen. Once it is decided that a piece is a production piece it stays that way! THere are some legal matters behind that.
On the other way will the PYOs never become production pieces πŸ™‚

Oh I never knew that, thats good to know! Thanks πŸ™‚

So anyone ever use liquitex ultra glossy varnish ? I would like to see a pic of a piece finished with it. I like a glossy finish, but not so much so that it looks cheap.

Or, if they are not painted yet, some of them could be sold as PYO’s πŸ˜€

@lasohaney Thanks for that info πŸ˜‰

and liquitex ultra glossy varnish. I think Im ready to go materials wise, now to wait for my PYO’s to arrive πŸ™‚

Just to add fuel to the fire, there might be times when you’ll want different finishes. I have a satin varnish and a glossy varnish. Some also have flat varnishes πŸ™‚

Oh, thanks! LOL! Now I wonder if I need more stuff… and I wonder if this Ultra Gloss stuff will be too glossy ? Any one use this stuff?

And I forgot about antiquing medium…. still need that, but dont know if I need it right away, it may not be something I want to try to mess with yet.

Oh, I didn’t see it in your shopping pictures (very nice set of liquitex paints btw) so maybe you got some already…but don’t forget to get a sealer (lacquer/varnish…never seem to find the right word for it) for when you’re done painting! To protect the paint job you did. Good luck!

Today a friend of mine picked up the last few things I needed, that Michaels didn’t carry. This included the GAC 100 medium, and liquitex ultra glossy varnish. I think Im ready to go materials wise, now to wait for my PYO’s to arrive πŸ™‚

In the mean time I can brainstorm on color ideas, and try and figure out the whole process. Such as how do I begin… mix paint-medium-and retarder all together?

                              Hee Hee!
Your Michael’s spree is just about what I got too – piece for piece!
My only suggestion if you don’t already have one, is a Color Wheel – Michael’s has two sizes – I would suggest the bigger one.

I haven’t mixed my Liquitex with my Golden paints yet, but I have used them with the Jaquard Luminere Metallic paints & Sargents Liquid Metallics (both from DickBlick) and the Folk Art paints (Antiquing Medium and Glitter paints) – all played nice together!

                              Have Fun! πŸ™‚

Sweet ! πŸ™‚ And thanks for the color wheel tip, I actually looked at them briefly, but then didnt bother. Now I think I will get one the next time I go in.

I think I found another source for some of my supplies also. There is a DeSerres store down town here that I didnt know about, and I looked online and they do stock the Golden GAC 100 Acrylic Polymer medium. So once I can find my way there, I will just about have everything I need to start my first PYO !

@ Lokie Thanks for the Retarder tip, I will remember that πŸ˜‰ And good to know you have mixed brands together without issue.

So, when mixing my first paint to work with, do I add equal parts retarder to GAC 100 to paint ? All that can mix together ? Really? Or ???

Spent a large portion of my day working on my Hellfire again πŸ™‚ I was *stuck* with him for a long time, but today he has come together quite nicely!
I’m hoping to have him finished tomorrow! What do you guys think of the metallic black on the scales on his neck?? I love them and hate them all at the same time, lol! I have another idea that I could do with them if people think they should be changed? It’s an easy fix too!

When he is all done he will be going up for offers πŸ™‚ I just have to relocate his red gems, lol! I managed to misplace all but one color of gems.. I have an idea where they could be, but I’m at the wrong house to go looking for them, at the worst I’ll order more, lol!

Oh—My—– GAWD !! This PYO dragon is absolutely stunning ! Im a gamer, and used to be a WoW addict, and now play Diablo III when I have the time….. and this dragon just reminds me of the stuff I love so much about gaming! Im getting ready to try PYO Windstone soon, and this piece is such an inspiration ! I can only hope someday I can create something so gorgeous, and that my imagination can be as inventive as yours !

Thanks for the info on the Antiquing Medium, thats something I still have to get.

So far this is what I got today at Michaels ! (saved almost $60 using discount coupons)

I hope all this is ok, and that I didnt buy anything that Im not supposed to use, lol ! I also hope its ok to mix liquitex and golden products together ? Maybe these are questions I should have asked before….

One thing Michaels did not have was the Golden GAC 100 Acrylic Polymer Medium. All I could find were 2 other products which I thought MAY work , but I wasnt sure, and the staff at Michaels were not much help on this. One was called Liquitex Gloss Medium & Varnish (fluid Medium) which said it could be used both as a thinner for paint and a varnish. Then golden had a product, Polymer Medium (gloss). But Im not sure if these do the same thing as the GAC 100…. all this is still so confusing at times.

Thanks again for everyones help !
