AND I Love the Snowflake Winged Wolf! “Winter is Coming!” Oh wait! It’s already here! 🙂
Pond? Sounds more like a swimming pool. LOL
January 31, 2012 at 11:53 pm in reply to: January Grab Bag Baby Unicorn – Post them as you get them! #871987Got mine today but she’s not really doing it for me, although I love her little pink hooves. She’s the one in the store photo all the way on the left. Orange eyes and purple collar gem. I took quick pics on the dash of my truck…her colors are much brighter than these pics show. I really wanted one of the tiger or zebra striped ones, but I will consider trades for other Windstone pieces also.
I think this one is very “CANDY!” I think it’s precious.
Search for “Peacock Ore” on eBay. There are a variety of auctions in all price ranges. These rocks are gorgeous, but they do tend to flake a little, so you might want to place them on something? I have seen gold charger plates reasonably priced. Maybe pile some on a charger with a votive or other candle in the middle? Or place the ore inside those fluted rose bowls you can get for about $1.00 at a craft store with a votive.
I don’t know if you are having bridesmaids and whether they will wear hair up or down, but my sister got some really beautiful peacock feather clip in extensions at Rue 21. I have seen similar ones sold other places.
I saw a lot of peacock color and themed ornaments this last Christmas. You may want to check and see if any place stores their old stock on site and if you could get a good price on a few pieces. If not too seasonal looking, they might look pretty scattered on a table.
You might use several jewel toned colors of the really wide cheaper ribbon (such as the kind used on outdoor flower arrangements). If you made oversized bows using several colors at a time, that might be pretty. (Psst floral wire is a must in making these).
More fluted rosebowl ideas: You could get paint at a craft store to paint the outside in several peacock colors and then set a votive inside. It would probably look like stained glass.
Also, from time to time, Pier 1 has carried some beautiful Peacock Feather wreaths (around $30 though). Also, check out their clearance. They often have beautiful votive and other candle holders very reasonably priced.
Some plastic “crystal” beads “throw” peacock colors when illuminated, you could string these and use as garlands or cover votive holders with them.
Have fun! I am excited for you. What a neat idea for a theme!
The most successful “Koi Pond” (term used loosely) setup that I have ever witnessed was an old metal cattle tank, partially shaded, filled with plants that had grown there naturally, constantly being filled with fresh water pumped straight out of the ground. Granted these were garden variety goldfish saved from a carnival to start with, but they had long, happy lives as they grew to be long, fat and jolly.
Things I found interesting as my sister has become a Lionhead Goldfish afficianado:
-Even freshwater tanks can benefit from a little salt – helps prevent Ick.
-You want to be careful and find out if your new fish was eating flakes or pellets. Switching from flakes to pellets can sometimes cause fish to get an air bubble and float towards the top – probably not good in a Koi Pond with potential predators. If fish could just fart easier, this wouldn’t be such an issue.
-Beware the implementation of snails, they sometimes have lots of babies or worse, bring diseases with them.
-Aeration is important, but you don’t want to blast them out with it. It would be like if we had to live in a loud dance club 24/7.These are Secerthopes fabulous collection.Posted for her.Girl, you got it going on!WOW.Congrats!!
LOL!! That’s not even half of them. A year ago and 7 day’s I had not one Dragon in my house!!! Gotta say I just love them and I have ALL but a few pieces to go to complete all the set’s.
Most all of these were brought from or traded with Forum Members!! I just want to THANK ALL of you for my collection. With out Ya’ll it would not have been possable!!!
Secert, it cracks me up that you have a new one peaking out of the box at that very moment! LOL! I wish I could leave my pieces out in the open. For now I have them inside a large aquarium and one bookshelf sized one that I bought just for the purpose of housing them. I got a great deal on them and they fit better and were more cost effective than a curio. I also talked to Jennifer and she told me it would be o.k to put a lighted hood on it, but you want to make sure that you have the kind of bulb that wouldn’t cause any fading. I think I am just going to keep a clear top on it and use a regular overhanging lamp for some kind of illumination instead , cause I would flip out if they faded.
Welcome Rahs! May everyone treat you warmly and make you feel like part of the family!
January 29, 2012 at 7:02 pm in reply to: POLL: Dragon Production/LP Colors (mahogany added 2-15-12) #871670You peeps who won Barn Swallow pieces, were the eyes blue or teal? I can’t remember. Maybe I am a barn swallow purist, but I would like to see some with brown eyes.
Good Job LadyFirebird!
Updated with new pieces.
Yeah I saw White Lions at the Mirage this week and they were ready to get off their shift in the observation area and letting everyone know about it! Guess they are time sensitive creatures!
Thanks for the “skinny” on the addy. Whew! Just made it!
I sent my guess to Ayonah by PM, I hope that was o.k. Had trouble locating an email.
I think there is a Dragon Relocation Program for creatures in peril like that. Maybe a friend wouldn’t mind storing your collection for you until you get your own place someday? I think I remember getting the same threat about my toys when my room was messy as a child. Something about backing a truck up to the house and tossing them out the window. Thank God that never happened! I hope it all works out for you Julia! 🙂
I had waited quite a while by the computer, gave up and headed to the Olive Garden with my sister. Was watching on my smart phone and sipping a Peach Bellini! I didn’t figure I’d get one, but I did. I suggest Peach Bellini’s while waiting! I must have missed all the scary messages. LOL!
