I can fix that, not sure if you want to send him away though or not for that. Repair cost wouldn’t be a lot, but with shipping both ways, you might not want to do that. I could walk you through fixing it yourself, if you want to try that.

Repaired Special Red Fire Lap Dragon, her horn was broken off during shipping. Repaired for Dragonshoard.

Also restored the paint on a Red Fire Spectral for someone else on here, can’t remember her forum name. He goes home soon too.

Actually I use the 1 lb size, it takes awhile to use up that much. Drag0nfeathers did a great job demonstrating how to repair a piece, I do it just about the same way, but I’ve found that dental tools are handiest when putting in details. You can find those either online or of all places Harbor Freight. At least I have been able to in the past.

Paint matching for Peacocks is pretty easy mostly, you simply paint the broken areas black, then use Golden brand interference paints in the right colors over the top of that.

Toughest colors to match are the Emeralds, since those are a custom mix from Windstone of various Golden brand paints.

Then of course Ruby & Red Fire are just nightmares due to the type of paint used, it is so beautiful, but sadly the paint itself has durability issues. Also, Melody has none left to be able to give for touch ups.

Anyone wanting to do their own repairs, make very sure your pieces are aligned properly & as tightly as you can manage before gluing, cause once they are on wrong, it is hard to correct. If you plan to send a broken piece to someone else for repair, don’t attempt to fix any of it, just pack up the pieces separately in a baggie & send with the repair. Your repair person will thank you.

Also, I thank all of you for your steadfast support of me through the years & I was very moved to see you mention me so often in your responses throughout this thread. I want you all to know that I appreciate you all & value your friendship.

Awesome, my hubby was glancing over going, hey, she could make a skeksis, from The Dark Crystal! So there’s an idea for your next endeavor if you want. LOL! Love the Firey…too bad I have no where to put such a thing.

It’s not letting me update, but at present I have no repairs in house, though there are two on the way.

I should be available for more repairs by mid July, so if you want to be added to the wait list just give me a hollar. Turn around is much faster as I am taking a haitus from full time work for a month or so, so now is the perfect time to get your piece to me.

I look forward to hearing from folks, I’ll be posting pics of current projects in the near future mostly on the Windstone FB pages, since those are easy to post pics in.

It’s mostly an off white, almost an eggshell color. Start with an ivory & lighten with straight white or darken as needed with a little burnt umber. Each unicorn color batch is slightly different so there is no set color mix, so you just have to try to match as best you can.

Guilty over here, Zinc showed up one day, gotta love me. He lived with us for 19 years before he passed away, I miss him still.

We rescued Scooter from a family that had to move away & they asked us to give him a home. Stalker we got just before we lost Zinc, he was an adorable little orange fuzzball, now a 13 lb giant fuzzball. (long haired) Right when we got Stalker our kids found a bunch of feral kittens & stole one, she is now a fat little mouser named Squeaker, she has never meowed, always little funny squeaks.

Her mother stayed around, had a second litter, then got hit by a car before the litter was weaned, we were able to rescue two of the kits, so Asher & Coal live here too. LOL. Currently there is a juvenile orange & white kitten who despite our 6 year old’s best efforts can’t catch yet, but he does come eat the food we leave out.

Karli won over Asher & Coal when they were small & caught them so we could vet them & all that, we call her the kitty whisperer, so if anyone can get the orange & white to trust, she will. He will lay in the yard about 10 feet from her & they will sit there watching each other, it’s kinda funny.

I’ll get pics together & post them in this post later.

LOL! At least you get colors, I mentioned that I kept getting red ones, now Susie deliberately puts them in there adding notes that they want to see the rest of their family. LOL!

in reply to: How do you paint your walls? #881347

Considering I have to paint ceilings & walls for 2 rooms, I am gonna cheat & use the tape…too many opportunities to mess up. Though if I wished I could do it the other way, it just takes too long, especially when you are dealing with 3 different colors in the same room.

Yeah, I have my fairytale too, my children still have their fathers very much in their everyday life, long story but both became roommates after our relationships failed, still friends. Met a wonderful man who has been very good for both my children, loves them as his own & pays attention to them. Sadly even though my children’s bio fathers live here, one of them especially is kinda not really all that involved with them & mostly holes up in his room when he is home, but they still know where to find him if they want him & his door is always open.

My husband now is the perfect partner for me, & I now realize how flawed my past relationships have been. This is how it should be, the way it is with this man. I am very grateful he came into my life, & I am happier than I can ever remember.

So yeah, despite everything growing up, etc, life is good here. I am so happy that everything is working out for your family & I know your kids will be like me when it comes down to it. I knew that it was never my Mom’s fault my father failed me, it was always his choice. Sure she moved us away, but he could have chosen to move as well to stay close, or at least made the effort to visit, it wasn’t like he didn’t know where we were, he always did, Mom made sure.

Anyway, it will all work out, just I hate it when one parent or both do things that will ultimately only hurt the children, when their anger & hostility is really towards the other parent. Your Ex is not thinking about them at all here, which pisses me off, because their physical & emotional well being should be his priority, not getting back at you. But then we already knew he doesn’t have what it takes to be a good parent or things wouldn’t be how they are, but still you would think he would know better.

Yeah, I like the Barn Swallow color scheme too, but having anything I actually like being only on eBay where I have no chance in hell of getting, I pretty much gave up on buying new Windstones too.

About all I do now is fix them.
