*sigh* I’m glad they are finally sold out and I didn’t give in to temptation!!! LOL! However I had to get a baby tadpoad so I guess I can’t talk about not giving in really, LOL!
I’m with you…and I’m not even all that fond of the pose or of natural colors for my own collection. The ONE tempting one for me was the grey dapple with blue eyes in the store pic, and what are the odds I’d get him? (Um…non existent, pretty much) Even so, I was all but sitting on my hands at times while they were still available, just so I wouldn’t buy one. I swear Grab Bags are addictive!
Congrats to all of you who went for it–can’t wait to see pics! And, congrats & hugs to those who knew they shouldn’t & managed to keep themselves from buying. Not yielding to temptation is a tough struggle sometimes.
Drag0n, that one is so perfect for your collection! Congrats!
I skipped the colts; not big on most natural colors and the sit-up-and-beg pose doesn’t really do it for me. I do look forward to seeing them though. I did pick up a tad-poad. But I do wish we’d seen more Youngs in this thread. It seems like so many of them either aren’t being posted or went outside the forum. It’s disappointing.
GB Adult Poads?
I could do GB adult poads in “scenery”, have I done any poads like that yet? I think I did some young ones.. I can’t remember… too may poads.
The adult poads are hard to do as grab bags because I have already done them so many ways, it is hard to remember what NOT to repeat, but I have a whole cart of them sitting here, waiting to be painted somehow.
White, maybe?Since there are adult poads waiting to be painted, I’ll bring this one back up: penguin poads please!!!!! We had a request for these a couple of months back, and quite a few people wanted one, so a limited batch would probably sell out pretty quickly.
Interesting indeed! And I’d imagine the Coca Cola labeling *does* make it more valuable.
I’ve chased a couple of actual carousel horses on ebay & craigslist before, but either cost or that gut feeling of “something’s off here” have kept this particular thing from happening. One of these days…
Ack! So many of these are just gorgeous. dragonlove, I’d gladly take Adaptation off your hands…but I suspect Denial isn’t quite safari enough to do that successfully.
I did promise more pics of Denial, so I hauled his spotted butt outside again today. These are under light shade, no flash, and the color appears pretty true on my screens:
I do like him a lot as he’s a fun blend between fantasy and safari, but I was really hoping for a fantasy treescape one, so I am making him available for trade at this point.
Magnolia is an absolute beauty!
I’ll second Branzy’s rec for Bon Jovi’s “It’s My Life”, and note that it’s best played loud.
Then again, most music is best that way as far as I’m concerned.
Other possibles in rotation on my iPhone:
P!nk “F**ckin’ Perfect” (language or not, every woman in the world should memorize this one)
Duran Duran “Still Breathing” (off their Astronaut album from a few years back)
Nickleback’s “If Today Was Your Last Day”
Phil Collins “I Don’t Care Anymore”The others I use aren’t terribly inspiring–rock & metal that are just plain angry. Or dance music that I’ve found simply turns the day around if I’m willing to throw myself into it wholeheartedly.
Also something to consider: for some people, or at some times, anxiety and emotional responses aren’t calmed by lyrics or vocals. If I’m really in bad shape, or if I need to somehow gather my typically scattered wits and focus, all the powerful anthems get pushed aside. My primary go to at that point is, oddly enough, Mozart’s “Requiem” mass. I’m not a religious person, but for various reasons–including the theme of redemption–that piece calls to me. The fact that it’s sung in Latin, rather than English, frees my mind from the anger and stress that are sometimes reinforced by the contemporary stuff. I’ve used it so often for this purpose that now my body tends to relax before the end of the opening song. Yay for Pavlovian responses! LOL
Lately, I’ve also purchased three albums via iTunes by a local artist/composer named Shaun Paul. He’s a cellist, and his instrumentals are simply beautiful.
Anyway, it may be worthwhile to find a piece that speaks to you in the right way, and start teaching yourself to retreat to it in that way. Meanwhile, *hugs*. Just grit your teeth & keep hanging on. It won’t be forever.
Best paycheck ever!!
Totally agreed! I’ve been trying to find a carousel horse I can afford for years. Excellent find!
Yeeaargh about covers it. I’m echoing the sentiment that I’m glad the boys are just shy of 18 and not, say, 8. I swear it’s like some people never grow up past second grade. Yikes.
A-freaking-men. With the boys so close to being legal adults, at least they have some say in the matter.
Hang in there, TDM.
Two are listed as http://windstoneeditions.com, one has the www prefix in front of the site. All three came in within milliseconds of each other.
Sorry about the multiple notify emails guys >_< I looked at the list and confirmed that no one was recorded twice unless they clicked notify while logged out and again while logged in. The program just glitched a little and sent multiple emails to the same people. I only got one notify email. I will ask Lane about making a way for people to see when they clicked the button already. But clicking, say, 20 times in a row should not result in 20 emails being sent. I'll test this myself (again) but I'm 99% sure it wont send multiple emails for multiple clicks.
Thanks for checking, Pam. I’d hate to think that our obsessive clicking ever made you guys overestimate demand on something, especially something pricey.
while there may have been 300 restock notices sent out, I’m sure I’m not the only one who got more than one (two in my case) because there is no way to see if you have clicked notify, so you click it again just to make sure….
The program should only record you once even if you click multiple times.. Syn, what email did you receive them at? You could get two notices if you click notify while logged in and another time while logged out. Could also be that the program borked a little having to send out so any emails, and sent the same notify email to the same person more than once. Before we restocked these I printed out a list of everyone who had pressed the button, and I didnt notice any doubled usernames or emails.
Sorry, but I received three myself, all to the same email address, and for the same reason as others: because there’s no way to tell what you have or have not signed up for, and because these were so important to me that I didn’t want to chance missing out–only to be shut out on price instead.
The Kickstarter idea is intriguing, and I’ll be interested to see how it works out. Unfortunately, cute as the dragons are, I can guarantee the money I hoarded the last several months for a GBY will be long since spent by then! LOL
I don’t want to sound a grump, and I *really* don’t want to start drama, and frankly I’m pleased Windstone can get that price for them, but it’s about $100 out of my reach. I’ll have to enjoy people’s pictures of all of Melody’s wonderful effort.
Obviously I’ll live without one and be just peachy, none the worse for wear, but I can’t help but be a little bit sad, since I did plan on splurging a bit for one.
I think this sums up my stance perfectly. I did set aside a pretty sizeable chunk, knowing the price would go up, but as Rusti said, it was a splurge I was willing to make as I’ve been trying to get a Young for a year. To find that I’m shut out yet again not because I couldn’t snag one in time, but because the price tripled? Yes, that’s disheartening. If I could afford to spend almost $400, including shipping, I could have bought one resold from a previous batch by now.
Melody’s work, as always, is fabulous, and those who can afford it will be pleased, I’m sure. I just wish we’d been given notice that the price would rise *this* much. I think you’d see less disappointment had the price been set and announced before anyone had the chance to get their hopes up. I know I’ve been counting on this and planning for it for months, even staying out of the last GBB batch so I could put that money towards this batch instead.
Regardless, for the company’s sake, I hope they sell well.
