How many of you like books on tape? I personally just cannot get into the story with a book on tape. First time I tried it I was really surprised to find out that the whole thing is read by a single person! I remember it was a detective story, and to have an older woman with a distinguished voice do a street punk’s lines, or even just regular male characters’ lines was just too weird for me. Completely ruined the fantasy.
Haha, that reminds me of when my Dad rented a Dune audiotape from the library. It’s one of my favourite books, so I had him put it in while he was driving me somewhere. My goodness, I doubt we were two minutes into it when I asked him to turn it off. Some guy doing a high-pitched voice of a Reverend Mother was more than I could handle. I just can’t get into them either.

The time period is the Napoleonic wars, and dragons are used as the air force. What’s important to note is that dragons are just as intelligent as human beings, and the dialoge between the two main characters, one human, and one dragon, and their relationship is fantastic.

I’m not into history at all, though I did enjoy that Master and Commander movie. And I just love these books o.o

I HIGHLY recommend it, and geez, I was going to suggest the 3-in-1 version with the pretty cover but geez! It’s sky-rocketed in price. Maybe since the Peter Jackson news I guess x_X I only paid about $12 for mine. The first book is His Majesty’s Dragon.
Has anyone else enjoyed these novels? With all the attention Eragon seems to get it’s surprising a fantastic series like the Temeraire novels are (I assume) are widely unknown. I know I certainly hadn’t heard of them until one of my coworkers recommended it to me.
And the fact that Peter Jackson is even thinking of bringing this movie to the big screen makes me squee so loud I could shatter ear drums.
Thoughts?
Heh, I swear, the next person that asks, “Oh, are you going to see Eragon?” as if it’s some shining central mecca of my dragon-loving existance is going to be smashed to a bloody pulp by my new Wii controller -_-
That being said, I did read the book when it came out, and it was okay. Nothing amazing, but not terrible either. I got the 2nd book but haven’t read it because I don’t remember enough of the first book to continue on, and the first book wasn’t THAT enjoyable that I would bother reading it again.
I looked at the screenies from the movie and it didn’t look much different from Dragonslayer (maybe it’s the costumes?) So yeah, I might go see it just for possible dragon eye-candy, but not before I see other movies I’m more interested in.
Now, the fact that Peter Jackson bought the movie-rights to the Temeraire series makes me want to pee in my pants for joy O.O But Eragon? Meh. I can wait until it comes out on video.

I highly recommend this game for dragon lovers! I have a blast playing ^_^ Really nice community too.
