Got it–thanks!June 15, 2020 at 4:26 pm #1615256
This is happening to me as well. Win10 with Firefox.
I just noticed that those names started the most recent new topic in each of those forums.
I’ll try to work on it sometime this week, but at the moment I have a long list of things that are higher priorities. I’ll post here when I get it fixed.June 10, 2020 at 7:17 am #1611782
JASDJSJHF01 just spammed the art discussion threads with crazy stuff. Just for your info.
Thanks, I removed them.June 4, 2020 at 5:13 pm #1611442
The formatting (line breaks) issue is now resolved. There was a bug in the plugin that the developers were not aware of, but they have now fixed it. Sorry it took a little while.May 21, 2020 at 8:20 am #1610812
Sorry, I was not subscribed to this thread (I am now). I see what you mean about the formatting. There was a recent update to the Classifieds plugin, and I’m guessing there’s a bug in it. I contacted the plugin’s developer about it, and they usually reply promptly, so I should be able to get this sorted out soon. When did you start noticing the formatting problem (no line breaks)?
As for the expiration notices, here’s what I see looking at the listings admin panel…
There are a bunch of ads that should be expired, but aren’t. For example, an ad with an expiration date of 5/12, but which is still listed as “active” rather than “expired” and appears in the listings on the site. So I’m guessing that when you say you had expired listings, you mean that the expiration date had past (not that the ad was labeled “expired”)? Is that the case? If so, then the issue is not that the system isn’t sending emails, but that the expiration date is not triggering a status change from “active” to “expired.”
Of course, either way it’s a problem, but I’m just trying to identify the root of it, so I can pass that along to the developers. Thanks for your help!May 6, 2020 at 12:41 pm #1609812
OK, I have just installed a messaging limiter plugin that limits the number of PMs a user can send within a specified time. This way, when a spammer gets get through, they will not be able to flood the site with PMs. Currently the limit is set to 3 messages within 5 minutes, but this can be changed. If anyone finds this constraining, I can adjust it.May 6, 2020 at 12:00 pm #1609809
I have adjusted the “threshold” that the site uses to identify spambots. It blocks certain attempts based on a variety of factors that it uses to determine if a user is suspicious. It is now set to be quite sensitive, which will hopefully filter out these spambots. The potential downside is that legitimate users may occasionally be flagged as bots and prevented from logging in. This is a matter of trial and error to find the sweet spot where only the spambots get blocked.
SO…if anyone has difficulty logging in, please email me at email@example.com to let me know, and I will get you logged in. Thanks for your patience as we try to get this resolved.May 5, 2020 at 8:23 am #1609678
Kayla is already back again (with user name “Nelly”). I blocked this account too, but some of you may get PMs.May 5, 2020 at 5:52 am #1609668
Latest account blocked. I have a couple ideas for stopping this, or at least minimizing it, which I will work on today or tomorrow.May 4, 2020 at 8:26 am #1609606
Kayla is at it again. -_-
Can you IP ban her?
Anytime there’s a spammer I add their IP address to our blacklist. That takes care of some of them, but the persistent ones just return using a different IP (or some method of disguising their IP).May 4, 2020 at 8:23 am #1609605
The latest Kayla account has been blocked. Sorry for the inconvenience everyone.April 28, 2020 at 8:00 pm #1609258
Yet another spammer – Luz E. Powell hawking icemakers in the Food forum.
Thanks, I disabled that account.April 23, 2020 at 12:58 pm #1608987
