man, i can’t decide if i want the emp.pea curl or hold out for flame again- whenever THAT will be. i know melody said there will be more of them. i was on ebay for the flame the first time and didn’t go for one and i’m kicking myself for it now. i really love that color combo, i can’t imagine liking the emp.pea more and i only want one cuz they are so small. hmmmmmmm.ack!! will they go out as regular production at some point? i would like to have ONE piece at least with the letter of authenticity, though . hmmmm.i really love the flame tones though! oh gosh what to do!!

eeeeeeeeeeeeeee! oh thanks dragonfeathers! i want to do more, to have em available for peeps, if interested, but its tough to buy new ones to paint when juicy stuff is coming up on ebay, lol. however if i painted some n sold em then i’d have money for more windstones; thats the goal but i’m backwards right now! spending $$ i don’t have on retireds etc. so i have little money to buy pyos in hopes of selling some! d’oh! lol.
i am going thursday to get more metallic paints, to come up some more cool/original color patterns … i found some that have 2 or more tones in them, like light purple n gold, red and gold, not to mention a single tone green exactly like on the emerald green dragons-i have those already, but i want more. they had an awesome metallic sea green but it was expensive, like 24 bucks for some reason.. i do look to put alot more out there though, i am just a real nit-picking slow poke, so i have a bunch half done all over my desk, ugh!
btw, you are SOOOOOOO close to where i live with u being in taunton and me in bristol, i’m ~35- 40 minutes from you! lol! i think thats pretty darn close for random peeps on the same forum. my boyfriend/fiance works at comcast in new bedford, just a smidge away from you! anyway, for whatever thats worth! let me tell ya, there are no windstones in shops in THIS neck of the woods! sounds like they are down your way in m.a. ….rhode island has squat!

ok, now how funny is this that just after i asked about the peacock hatching emps that TWO come up on ebay in the same day!! in regards to other pieces in that shop… i got the emp in peacock, they had no other colors of him( sorry 🙁 ) , no other orientals, no curling dragons- i was hoping so badly for the coiled mother-, but the manager is calling ME tomorrow and i will get the full scoop. i will definitely ask if they have a gothic unicorn- hes my favorite, i have one with a chipped hoof- and i will hook you up for sure if they have him! 🙂 gotta help out a fellow gothic uni lover!

i did all the painting by hand with brushes, i’d make an awful mess with an airbrush, though i do have one if i wanted to learn how to use it!! i did the kirin to look mostly like the originals, cuz i knew i would never get one of the originals, with them only going up in price. i wanted to have a little bit of the kirin experience! it was actually an accident that the dragon came out the way he did, i was trying to do him in princess-like gem tones, then it came out looking like a cross between peacock and the new emerald peacock. d’oh! the piece incorporates easily if you have peacocks in your collection already- like me- it compliments em nicely. but that is an interesting concept i was concerned about and that i did think of in regards to “color copyright infringement”. i am very curious about that. oh well, i’m just as happy to keep him if there are any problems!! i remember someone else painted a dragon that looked JUST like the brown paint color, complete with the contrasting scale accent colors, but i’m not sure if they ebayed that one or not.. i don’t think they did. the others i have yet to photograph are very much my own color concepts, real polar/aurora borealis or natural feels, etc. so no copying windstone issues with the rest at least. hey, i’m just thrilled i figured out how to load a pic to a page and have it work! woo hoo!

well, i finally got a couple of my pieces photographed and loaded to a hoster so i will give posting them a shot!! the dragon i am looking to ebay if you folks like him enough. he is in all metallic paints like the regular windstones with plenty of gold accents.he’s my baby! i have a silver one i am working on finishing up, as i loved the silver OW, but he’s proving harder to do than my colorful one! little bugger! my kirin is on there too hopefully, i liked the original color so much i didn’t want to do anything TOO different to start off with anyway. i’d love your imput and hope you like em!
[img][/img][img][/img]his wings aren’t as as pink in person, but everything else is accurate.

yeah, that’s why i was like, holy cow if they still had it, i’d hop on it. i needed a manager on the phone though since the fella i got initally was not too familiar with em and they were busy too.i said i’d call back at a slow time when they could really tell me what they had. i bought a peacock young oriental for $56 from em already, i haven’t seen that one around much, and he’s sharp in peacock! now i’m just waiting for him to get here! i know someone on the forum has one, but i forgot who, i’ll have to look. they didn’t have any other orientals though, which was dissapointing. i was going to get the best description i could from someone smart there of all that they had if they would take the time, and if there was anything juicy sounding i’d let folks know on here.

oh, well, i actually found a shop that may still have one- hatching emp. for regular retail/issue price, i’m calling tomorrow morning, i was curious of how good of a deal it would be, getting it at ~$58 plus shipping as opposed to what it goes for now. or if would have been worth the effort to maybe resell him, but i think once i had him in person i’d want to keep him. 😈 he has such a great life like pose!! i love his wide open flat paw on the eggshell, lol! so cute!

yes wolfen i was sweating bullets initially, but he was pretty cozy in my bag. the shopkeeper wrapped him nicey-nice in lots of sheets of paper, taped it up, then i wrapped him in two bath towels and put him head up in my bag! my biggest concern was if i banged into something if his nose would get chipped, but he got home juuuuuust fine, lol. sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do! i wish the shopkeeper kept the box, but it was too big to keep in his tiny shop.i would have really liked it though to have it on hand if i ever moved.

yay! thanks littleironhorse!!! i know you like getting to put your records to good use!! i would too if i went to the effort of keeping after all of that! good for you! it is really good to know if you come across retireds as to what would be a good investment resell-wise or what might not be worth the effort after shipping to get it initially( if necessary), ebay fees, time, etc. good photos of pieces are no problem here – my dad is a professional photographer : ) funny the pegasus is so much bigger yet it goes for about the same, but i like the hatching emp. more myself.thanks so much!
my friend had a white male dragon her bf gave her for her first xmas gift and she ebayed it a couple years ago when they needed some dough and she only got 40 bucks for it. it broke in shipping for she wasn’t familiar with how fragile they are to pack it safely, so she lost that little money she got for it. i told her if she still had it she’d get probably at least a couple hundred bucks (just guessing) for it now if it was mint -since so many peeps love the whites. poor thing, she was ready to eat her shoes, not to mention the look her bf gave her when he heard what it could have been worth!!

ski, in regards to storing your art supplies………especially painting supplies is are the drawered plastic storage units you would get at walmart, target, even some “high end” dollar stores, etc.i know you have limited access over there to things , but they really work great! they make them small and desk sized with three drawers (say 8 1/2 by 11 size if you were storing paper lets say) i have all my paints organized by: 1 regular colors, 2 metallics, 3 big econo tubes. i have a second unit just for paint brushes and sculpting tools stacked on top of the paint one. works great and keeps everything dust free. spray sealants i keep in one of the big drawered floor ones. at any rate, they are great cuz they are very econo wise 5 to 12 bucks for desk size, clean up easy, etc. at art stores they sell plastic or wooden tool boxes or suitcases to keep your stuff in (some with lots of little compartments), which are made to be portable if thats good for you, but you’ll pay more for those. i’ll have to post a pic of MY workspace, lol! hoo wee, all my junk and started sculptures, lol!

lol! i am glad you got him ruffin! when i saw that go up i gasped and was like, oh gosh i hope they see that decent price and jump on it! awesome! especially that it was from a known seller too, as opposed to someone we haven’t seen on there before. hurray!
after years of wanting one, i finally got an OW myself, in a shop near me, i think the only one in the state that sold the dragons, i got him for $175! woot! no box no tag, but thats ok with me. the shopkeeper had him since june and wanted him out before something happened to him, as his shop was tiny.i was out with my family (who doesn’t get the whole windstone thing) doing some after xmas shopping, so i bought him undercover when they were in another shop, wrapped him in bathtowels i had with me and stuffed him in my backpack! lol! that was a heavy bag! i carried him on my back the whole time we were shopping and noone caught on!! hoo wee! anyway, he’s very special, i like him more every day, and i am sure you will find that as well, once he arrives! congradulations!
