Thanks for all the compliments, everyone! 🙂
So it occured to me that I should update the thread with some newer photos of more recent work (thanks copper83!) so here are som photos. Wahoo!
First some of my photos of the commissions/ trades others posted earlier…
This is the last unicorn, or almalthea, done for Yeral. She is probably the biggest sculpture I’ve done, but I love how she turned out.
Next are the two I did for skylover. One is a kirin, and the other a rearing friesian…
I also did a trade with mmloda. I traded her Cursive (dapple grey andalusian on the first post) and made her a custom tiger unicorn as well.
skylover, those pictures look great! Nice to see their hair didn’t get too messed up with shipping. Daydreamer, I have a similar issue with my cat, she seems to go for the fragile things first! And crowfeather, thanks again, that means a lot to me 🙂
Thanks for posting the links skylover!
I am working on commissions for copper and keplilly at the moment. Both are gypsy vanners, one is going to be a galloping black and white, the other will be a palomino. (pose is yet undecided) I am also making a large dragonish monster for someone on deviantart. Art is slow at the moment with school, but I still manage to get stuff done on weekends. I was so fast over the holidays, it’s weird being back with school. Gah.
Thanks for all the lovely comments too, everyone. It means so much to me 😳
Awwwe you guys are so kind! It’s so cool seeing photos of them by someone else, and I’ll glad you guys each like your unicorns. I think the last unicorn was the biggest I’ve made. She was really fun to make, and I love the last unicorn so was glad to be able to do that. The kirin I liked from the beginning, but he’s become my most popular sculpture ever. Both on deviantart and other sites people keep asking me to buy him, or make him for them- I’ve never had one so popular! Luckily I don’t ever make the “same” sculpture twice, though I wouldn’t mind doing a sort of similar creature for you at some point, yeral
Thanks so much for the kind words, it’s great first thing in the morning! And thanks again for the trades, I really appreciate them.
He looks great! I buy sculpey in those masive 8lb boxes and they come shrink wrapped, although left out I’ve never had an issue. It goes hard in winter though, but never dry. Just be careful about leaving raw sculpey around, I know someone left it leaning on something plastic and it corroded the plastic! So not on nice furniture or anything for sure.
Oh, and with baking, what I like to do is grab a bunch of polyfil (so either stuffing or quilt batting or something) and fill up a little tray to bed the sculpture while baking. It doesn’t melt or anything, and that way you don’t get a big flat part on the bottom where your sculpture has baked against the metal tray.
Thanks guys!
Yeral- I haven’t done a zombie horse in ages, I should do one again sometime! Thanks 🙂
wolfenmachine- thank you! I usually work on them bit by bit over a few weeks to a month. Sculpting takes 6-20 hours I would say, and painting and hairing is another few depending on how complex the paint job is. The dapple grey unicorn took a really long time to paint and I had to spend a good few hours cleaning and conditioning the hair to use. It really depends 🙂
He is currently pending sale. If it falls through or anything I will post. 🙂
Thanks everyone. I don’t sell these too often and they usually take a while to go which is why the price is what it is. Once I have time to make more the prices could rise a bit, but for now it’s what they are 🙂
As far as trading, I really like the dragons and horses best. The only windstones I have are off classfied sites or gargae sales, so most are the common ones and/ or have damage. I have most of the peacock dragons, except the big ones like lap, old warrior, etc and a lot of the green ones too. I would consider pretty much anything to trade. I like the gryphons and cats as well.
If anyone wanted to trade just send me a pm with what you have 🙂
Most of them are around 7-9 inches tall, so a bit smaller than the classic breyers. As far as windstones I’m looking for, there are a lot I don’t have. I only really buy them on classifieds sites so I have a lot of the common ones, peacock, green and a few brown ones in various poses. (dragons) I really like the equine windstones, like the unicorns and pegasus. I have the male unicorn and that’s it. I don’t have any cats, gryphons, or anything else except the few dragons and one unicorn. 🙂
pm’d you 🙂
Hey guys, I know it’s not a windstone (bad me!) but I have a unicorn sculpture for sale. I was going to put him on ebay but figured I’d try him here first. His name is Cursive. He is $75 plus postage from Canada ($20 within canada and the states, $32 international) He is 6.5 inches tall to the crest of his neck. He was made entirely from scratch from polymer clay. He was painted by me in acrylics, and has mohair for his mane and tail, and resin eyes. I can only accept paypal.
I will also accept trades. I only have a few windstones at the moment so am willing to trade for most things. I also take commissions for unicorn sculptures, and can do trades with commissions as well. I also collect vintage my little pony, traditional breyer, and anything do to with thoroughbred horse racing.
Thanks for looking!
If you have any questions please contact me! 🙂
Wow thanks everyone 🙂 You are all too kind.
Yep I do 😳 I don’t think any of these guys are available, all been sold or traded, except the last picture. I do commissions, my pricing is here: http://scenceable.deviantart.com/journal/16033076/ Also I have an etsy store here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/scenceable
thanks 😀
Those are all gorgeous. I love the natural coloring- they look real! I would have expect them to fly away. Beautiful work!
Hi! I have been lurking on the forum for a while and figured I would post and share some art. Here’s some of my unicorns…
My sculptures are all made from scratch over wire. They are made from polymer clay, painted in acrylics, and have mohair manes and tails. Thanks for looking!
And a few non-unicorns… these are the only dragons I’ve done and I’m not too proud, I am working on a few more. I want to get better at doing dragons, and maybe try a gryphon too!
I should also mention that I do commissions for these….and I am willing to trade commissions for windstones 😀 (and also my little pony, breyer, other sculptures…) feel free to pm me if this interests you.
