Thanks hannah! I bought most of them on classifieds sites, the brown male was also $10, green mother $15, and the peacock spectral and peacock scratcher are both mint with tags and were only $50 each. The green oriental was also $10, uhm, they emerald coiled mother was $5, ummm I think that’s it. We drove like 3 hours to pick some of them up though, but still.
Olive always gets admired by people. I had someone over who was oggling the windstones and then they saw olive and were like OMG this one is the best! And were staring at her for a solid 5 minutes. And I think she likes her little perch up there where she can watch everything, hehe 🙂
Hey everyone! I have some photos to post 🙂
the first windstones I bought were in summer 2009, from a garage sale. After I got those 4, I came and joined the forum. Since then, I had stuck mostly to buying windstones from classifieds ads, and a few from thrift stores. At some point, I think near christmas 2010, I started posting art and I ended up doing a whole bunch of trades with people. So I acquired some really gorgeous pieces that way. Then I started stalking the ebay auctions more, and got into a habit of bidding just for fun, though everything went way out of price range. But, luckily, I got the little woven poad, I think she was only $85, so amazing. The first thing I ever bought from the store was a grab bag baby unicorn (yeah we’re talking like, a week ago!) and now I think I am officially addicted. Woohoo!
I live in an apartment near school, it’s kind of ghetto but I still love it. So I don’t have the most fancy shelving or anything, but I enjoy my collection all the same. My place is full of unicorns and horses, so the dragons really balance things out xD
Ok, enough babbling, photo time! 😀
I have a big desk separating my living room and kitchen (which used to all be in one room) and my heavier windstones line the top 🙂
as you can see, my desk is surrounded by windstoney goodness!
Big shelf with windstones and my small collection of racehorse plates.
pegasus family!
unicorns, and other things.
I think the peacock scratcher is a bit lonely with all these little guys
This is sort of the doorway into my apartment. The shelf over on the right has a couple more windstones. OH and on the bottom of the big shelf beside the oven thing, is a gargoyle unicorn. I forgot to take a nicer picture of him.
Two bookshelf boys… the poor OW was one of the first windstones I bought, but the lady selling him had dropped him or something, his front feet are really broken. He was only $10 though. And I still love him! It’s not really worth shipping him to get fixed though. And, he was a bit lonely so the male went over to keep him company. The male is a bit chipped too.But wait, there’s one more!
can you see him?
PYO keeper “olive” by Yeral/Hannah! She gets to sit up on the shelf in the kitchen all by herself. She’s very popular among people who come to visit. Thanks for looking! I really love this forum, it’s so friendly, I’ve really enjoyed becoming immersed in the collecting over the past year. Hopefully once my exams are over (end of april!) I can do some more windstone-sculpture trades.
I got my unicorn today!
I got the box really early and opened it half asleep and was a bit disappointed, so tossed him on the shelf and went back to sleep. But, looking at him later, I think he’s grown on me. I really wanted a grey one for some reason, but I did buy a grulla baby unicorn from the store earlier so I’m happy with this one. I took several pictures, because they’re cuttteee! 😀
At first I was like “eh chestnut pinto” but I see he has darker markings on the legs and such, so I think I convinced myself he’s a buckskin pinto instead. Now he can meet some of the other guys…
Poor baby peg wanted in on the photos too!Anyway, if anyone has a leopard appy or a palomino one that they really hate, I’d definitely be willing to buy it. Maybe I would trade this guy too, but I don’t think anyone would, I think people prefer the appys.
April 6, 2011 at 5:25 pm in reply to: Slate Grulla Baby Unicorns and White Baby Unicorns are back in stock! (4-4-11) #841849Yay!! Got a grulla 🙂
I expected the blue eyes to go on the palomino ones, hehe 🙂 Those are both gorgeous. I can’t wait for mine!!
I’m also absolutely in LOVE with the leopard appy pegasus on ebay right now…
syn- in order to cancel an auction that already has bids you have to first cancel all the bids. So he probably cancelled each bid and then pulled the entire auction, so then the final listing will show that the item had 0 bids.
They’re all so cute! I love unicorns, I only bought one because that was all I could afford, but if I could have I would have bought a bunch just to, well, have a bunch! I think quite a few members bought 2 or 3 for that reason, I really don’t think any one person bought like, 20 of them.
I think my favourite is either ghostndragon’s appy or syn’s black and white pinto with blue eyes…so gorgeous! I really like the leopard appaloosa ones, and any with grey and white. Mine isn’t here yet, I can’t wait to get him!
Thanks for all the help everyone! We haggled a bit and I’m getting the unicorn for $50. Hopefully I can fix him up 😀
I just have to gush for a minute…
I always bid on these but never really expect to win. Anyway… I won the woven poad #2 that ended today! This is so exciting because I’ve never bought a windstone online before. I always get them on classifieds sites and such. I’ve never even bought one from the store before, so I really didn’t think I would ever have an artist’s edition one. And poads are super cute! Yay!
Quote:& my Chocolate Rain came today! OMG, I was told a special drawing was to be put on the certificate enclosed, but I had no idea there would be that much detail! Impressed & astounded, I bow again, m’lady.
Ohhh take pictures! That chocolate rain dragon was my favourite, I’d love to see some photos of him at home.
I like the blue sand ones better, but chocolate rain is my most favourite recent one! And I agree, a pink male would be lovely. I’m a fan of the super bright colours, and pink is my favourite.
February 14, 2011 at 7:59 pm in reply to: Mint condition Red Fire Spectral, Amethyst Male SOLD #838213That spectral and amethyst male are so gorgeous. Good luck selling them!
I’m just going to throw it out there that I buy my eyes from Dreaming Tree and they are awesome! I know a few people on here own my sculptures so you can see these eyes in action. If you purchase eyes from her, you will be very satisfied; they are very well made and come in many gorgeous colours 🙂
Syn’s info looks great! 🙂
Another thing I would maybe add is that the place you sell the windstones affects their value. So something worth x amount on ebay is not worth the same amount on craiglist or kijiji. So the forum or ebay would be the places you would get the best price.
Good luck selling them!
Ok another post… the first one got too big! These are more recent.
The first is a hippocampus I made over my holiday break. His name is Thanatos.
Next is Chryssipus, who is a chestnut arabian unicorn. He is pegged onto a large, heavy base adorned with moss and a pool of water (made with clear resin). He is currently for sale (etsy.com/scenceable) 🙂
Next I have a trade sculpture I did with copper83. I am currently working on a second one (a fjord! So exciting). I love this guy, it was hard letting him go!
-Hahaha I see you posted some already! Finally, I have a trade I did with keplilly. I am also doing a second one for her as well. 🙂
Hope you enjoy!
