You can buy all of the supplies and tools at Tandy Leather. We only have one store in the entire state of Maryland and lucky for me its right by my work. Once you have all the tools its pretty easy to make them. If you don’t want to buy a whole side of leather you can buy precut straps which make it easier too.

Since I love to have a million different collars for my dog Sid (she needs to look stylish you know) I’ve taken to making my own collars. I’m pretty new to leatherworking and I’ve only made two collars atm but I figured I would share my creations with you. Right now I’m using rivets to hold the hardware in place but I want to learn how to hand sew leather since if you don’t hit the rivet just right it will bend and you have to pull it out and start all over again. I also need to work on finishing the edges of the leather since I don’t like the frayed look I end up getting. I’m going to get some beeswax this afternoon and try to clean up the edges a bit. Here are the two collars I’ve made so far…..

This is the first collar I made which no longer fits Sid since she was much younger when I made it. Its made from 1 1/2 inch leather with a 1 inch strip down the middle. I put three celtic heart conchos on it and its tapered down to once inch since the buckle I had was only for a one inch strip of leather. Of course I can’t find a pic of her wearing this collar even though I know I have one

This collar I just made last night out of 1 1/2 inch leather. It has 10 one inch spikes and a broken heart with wings on it. My husband wanted her to have a spiked collar so I made her one. She will only wear this when out on walks, I’m not fond of spiked collars being on dogs for long periods of time since I’m afraid someone could get hurt by them lol.

I hope to finish another collar tonight out of the recycled heart conchos from her puppy collar. I also want to try a hair on cow hide collar I drew up last night but I have to talk hubby into taking me back to the tandy leather store so I can buy the scraps I need. Thanks for looking at my collars, I’ll add more when I make them for everyone to see 😀

Sid is only a medium size dog but she has a great big neck. Right now she is in a 17inch collar but I’m sure the collar you have is probably much bigger. I’ve actually taken to making her own collars since I like to switch them up so much. I’m trying to learn how to hand sew leather right now since I don’t trust the rivets to stay in place if she pulls really hard. I’ve tugged the hell out of them with no problem but she is a little ball of muscle so I’m sure she could be much rougher then me.

I LOVE paco collars but I can’t shell out the money for them. I entered Sidney in that contest but came no where near winning. Congratz to you!

My dad just called and said they doctor here made him a new cast and gave him a boot to go over it. They said it will heal and he doesn’t need surgery which is good. My lost luggage just showed up but they beat it to hell so I have to file a claim so they can replace it. At least all my stuff was in it but you can tell they went through it. If anyone wants to see all the pictures I have them on facebook but you have to be my friend to see them. If you send me a friend request make sure you write windstone on there somewhere or else I will deny it. If I don’t know who someone is I won’t friend them. The link is under my avatar image as my home webpage.

We still had fun and I wasn’t expecting great medical service in a third world country but what made me mad was that she charged so much money and did NOTHING! I’m not kidding either when I say she did nothing, she didn’t even come over to the table he was laying on to look at him she just sat at her desk and called the insurance company. The insurance company couldn’t understand her because she barely spoke english so she handed me the phone but I had no clue what she was trying to do. They wouldn’t even get him ice for his foot, my mom had to run back to the bar and get some ice in a paper towel to put on his foot while we waited for someone to take him to the hospital. While we were there a man from Toronto came in with his son who had a cut that needed stitches. My mom had some dermabond back at the room so she went with him to fix the little boys cut so they wouldn’t have to go through what we were going through. Turns out that man was an er physician and he was going to splint dads foot if we could find an ace bandage and some splinting material but they had nothing. I’m just so glad to be home and I hope I’ll get my lost baggage back. It had a giant seashell we bought in it and my beer stein 🙁

Have you ever had a vacation from hell? Well I think this vacation would qualify. **wall of text ahead**

My family wanted to do a big vacation together so we all went to the Ocean Blue resort in Punta Cana. Pretty much my mothers whole side of the family went (her two brothers and their kids and my mom, dad, brother/wife and me, Danny and Alyssa). After being on the resort for only 4 hours my dad slipped on the walkway and broke his foot. We had to flag down a shuttle since the resort is so large and they took us over to the “medical” building where we waited for over half and hour just so they could open the door.

Then the “doctor” who opened the door told me to put my dad on the medical table and she sat behind her desk and kept asking for his insurance card. She never once looked at my dad, took any vital signs, NOTHING! All she did was call the insurance company and try to get payment for her services while we waited for an ambulance to take my dad to the hospital so he could get an xray. Two hours later after I asked multiple times if we could get a taxi or ANY kind of transport to the hospital the ambulance finally showed up. The “doctor” would not let us leave until we paid her $160 for her “services” the we had to pay the $200 up front for the ambulance ride so they would take him to the hospital. Once there they put his foot in a cast and gave him pain meds then charged him $1600 and wouldn’t let him leave until he paid.

The hotel sent a rep and a shuttle up to the hospital and at first said they would pay the bill then denied any fault because he had been drinking at the pool bar and told us tough. My dad didn’t want to leave the resort and go home since we were all there so we stayed for the rest of our vacation. The only wheelchair the resort had was located in the medical building and the “doctor” refused to let us use it so we just made due waiting for a shuttle to go by so we could get him to the pool. The rest of the vacation we spent sitting on the beach so Alyssa could build sand castles and swim in the water and we even went out on a boat to manta ray bay where we all swam with sting rays and sharks! Alyssa had a blast and so did the rest of us.

When it was time to leave knew a snow storm was going to hit Philly where we had to land but our travel agent kept telling us our plane was on time so off to the airport in Punta Cana we went. Of course after getting there our flight was in fact delayed by 2 hours 30 minutes. Once our flight did arrive we got on and it was a very turbulent ride up to Philly. When we got to Philly they put us in a holding pattern because they had to clear the runway but ended up shutting down the runway and diverted us to Charlotte North Carolina. After we landed they told us we would have to spend the night in the airport since the next flight we could get to Philly wouldn’t be until the morning and none of the hotels had a room available. They didn’t provide us with anything to sleep on or any food and all of the food courts were closed except for the starbucks. So I just sat there and played World of Warcraft (thank god for my laptop and free wifi).

When the US Airways baggage claim opened we tried to get in line to recheck our bags since our flight was at 7am but this VERY angry little man named Scott was screaming at us that we had to get in another line because we needed some kind of service help. Everyone in the airport was so worn out and whenever anyone tried to ask Scott a question he would just scream at all of us and I mean scream! I’ve never seen such an angry man in all my life. He almost caused a riot screaming at everyone, every time he would yell at the line of people they all started yelling back at him telling him to shut up. I wish I had been smart enough to get my camera phone out and video it because it would have been U-tube gold! I ended up going to one of the TSA agents and asking them where I could get my baggage checked so we could make our flight because Scott had refused to help any of us who had been stranded in the airport over night. The TSA officer told me to try the skybag check outside which I did and thankfully got my bags checked and all of us through security. My dad was stopped because of his cast and had a full body search and they sent Danny through the body scanner. We finally got on our flight out which was delayed and we had to be de-iced but we made it to philly. When we went to pick our checked bags up of course mine were missing. One of my bags made it on a different flight so we had to wait for two hours at the airport for it to arrive. They don’t know where my other bag is and I’m still waiting to hear from them if they ever find it. Now we are home and have a foot of snow in front of our door but I’m just glad to be home.

                    **Cliff Notes**
Went to Punta Cana, my dad broke his foot, the doctors at the resort are a holes, got stranded in North Carolina on the flight back, US Airways has Napoleon as a manager in Charlotte and they lost my bag

I’ll post pics as soon as I figure out how to since its telling me something about not figuring out the dimensions of the image

I know I haven’t been on here in awhile. I pop in every now and then but I try to stay away from the windstone addiction since we are trying to save money to buy a house. So far everything here has been going well. Danny has been cancer free for a year and Alyssa is getting big and talking alot lol. We are planning a trip to Punta Cana in January and we are going to take Alyssa to Disney in February. I’m not looking forward to flying though so it should be loads of fun lol. Anyway just wanted to say hey, hi, how ya doin :bye:

I’ve had three toyota camry’s that were over 100,000 miles and they were still going strong when I sold them. The only major problems I had with my older cars were I had to replace a starter on one and a transmission in another. If they have been well maintained they usually last a long time. My dad has a chevy truck that is pushing over 200,000 miles and he hasn’t had any major problems with it. I guess buying a used car with alot of miles is always a gamble but if the previous owners took good care of the vehicle and didn’t drive it like a nascar qualifier I don’t see why they would be a bad investment.

So I missed out on the PYO Pheonix and was wondering if anyone bought one they would be willing to part with. I had hoped they would come out before my husbands transplant anniversary date and they did but I missed them. If anyone snagged one they would be willing to part with please let me know. I wanted to paint one for my husband since he associates his transplant surgery with the phoenix. 🙂

We are looking to move somewhere between my job and philly since Danny wants to transfer from Hopkins. Hopefully we can get our house ship shape this year so we can sell and buy another one. I totally don’t look forward to that headache.

I know I’m never on here anymore and it doesn’t help that I’m always forgetting my password. Just stopping by to say all is well here. Danny finished his chemo and his ct scan shows no cancer. /happydance He will get scans every three months to check and make sure the cancer hasn’t come back. No one can give us an outlook on if he will remain cancer free or what our outcome will be so we are just taking things day by day. We had to enroll Alyssa in speech therapy since she still isn’t putting words together. I think she just likes to speak Alyssaese and the english language isn’t interesting enough for her. I hope everyone is doing well, sorry for not being on much but honestly I’m trying to not look at all the pretty windstones since I’m so tempted to buy them and we are trying to save money to move next year.

I know I haven’t been on here much with all that life has thrown at us. Danny has one more round of chemo to go and Alyssa’s birthday is this weekend so I’ve been pretty busy. We bought a new (well used but new to us) car since Alyssa doesn’t fit in the back of the mustang and I drained all of my backup money to put a down payment on the car rather then sell my mustang. Sooooo I’m going to try and sell some windstones to build my savings back up. I will take offers for two weeks and I reserve the right to end early if I get a really good offer or not sell at all. I can’t take payments at this time but I do take paypal. I will double box and ship with tracking numbers but shipping is extra then the prices listed. I will update the post with current offers. Life is pretty busy around here so if you have any questions please give me some time to respond. I have some dragons listed here but I may not let them go since I LOVE my dragons. I will post pictures tonight.

                                  1. White Bird Winged Flap Cat-$500 mint and comes with COA

                                  2. Special Black Gold Rising Spectral Dragon -$800 mint and comes with COA, he was one of 10 sold on ebay and I am his original owner

                                  3. LP White Old Warrior Dragon- $900 this is one of two dragons that I know of that left the factory before Melody was able to sign them but he does have his COA. I really hate to break up my old warrior circle so I may not let him go, I’m still not sure but figured I would test the waters.

                                  4. BVP Prototype Old Warrior Dragon- $2000 he is number 2 of 15 that were sold on ebay signed with COA. He has been kept in a glass display case every since I won him and you pretty much need to give me your first born to get him.

                                  5. Male Wolf Griffin- $144 I got him after a local store shipped me a broken dragon which started a bunch of drama on the forums after the store was ignoring my requests for a refund (older members remember that thread I’m sure). Every time I look at him he just brings up bad memories so I’m looking to find him a new home

                                  6. Female Wolf Griffin- $144 no point in keeping her if her mate goes.

That is all for now I may update the list with more. I need to get off right now and get ready for Alyssa’s birthday party.

PS. If anyone wants to be updated on whats going on in my life feel free to add my on facebook since I update on there. http://www.facebook.com/#/kutrick?ref=profile just make sure you send me a message that you are from the forum since I don’t friend people I don’t know.
