Well , to throw a monkey wrench into this thread, we spent a couple days sorting, cleaning and repairing the carts of “seconds” and “strays” so now we have a $#!t load of pieces to use as prizes.

I wish I could have a horse again.I did have a Leopard Appy when I was a teen that looked a lot like Shadowfax but her name was Molly.Her spots were mostly around her face but they showed well all over her body when she was wet.
Sounds beautiful. I miss having horses also! My family had pet horses from the time I was in 5th grade until about the time that I moved away at age 19. Sometimes I can still go riding with my aunt who has a couple of horses, when I visit CA, but I do miss having horses in the backyard! They’re such great animals.

Not sure I understand- was this the horse that played Shadowfax in Lord of the Rings, or your own horse named after him, or…?

Wow, sorry to hear the news! Hard to believe this happened to your mother-in-law and then your mother, and so close together. It must be so overwhelming. My thoughts are with you. I hope your remaining time with your mother is blessed.

I’d been planning to participate in this, but things were a bit hectic for a while there and time got away from me! A shame, as it really would have been a fun one to do, but at least I can still look forward to viewing the entries!

Anyhow, my opinion is that it’s much more important to like what you do than to do something you really don’t like or aren’t good at for more money. A lot of times, people that make more money are no happier and can be worse at managing their money.
If there’s something that you love and are good at, you should definitely pursue it.I work as a dog handler at a dog boarding and daycare establishment. The money I make isn’t much by some people’s standards, but hey I make more than minimum wage and I’m enjoying what I do. I’m really appreciative of it after my last job, where I worked as a housekeeper in a healthcare center/nursing home and completely worked my tail off for minimum wage for a company that was crappy to its employees in many ways.
I went to a couple years of college after high school, but I really had nothing I wanted to pursue with it so I stopped after doing 2 years of general ed plus some classes I wanted to take. I’m thankful for those 2 years and I’m also thankful that I didn’t push myself to pursue something I didn’t want to do and get into all kinds of student aid debt or something. Student debt can be so crazy.You don’t have to make a lot of money to collect Windstones. It’s about how you manage your money. Of course, making more money could help you afford to buy more Windstones, but although sometimes I find myself disappointed at not being able to buy some that I want, I’m glad I can’t afford to buy as many as I want. When the purchases are fewer and farther between, they’re a lot more special, and I also think a lot about what I want the most. Sometimes my mind changes and I end up being glad I hadn’t made the purchase I’d been thinking about a little while ago. I have no desire to get Windstones and then sell or trade them, nor to collect multiple colors of the same sculpt.
Not to mention space would be a problem if I bought a lot more Windstones. It’s already kind of a problem.
As for how you could afford that secret keeper you want? Put money away! Even if it’s $10 at a time. You could try to make a goal to always set aside a certain amount from each paycheck, and when you can put more, put more. Even if it takes a few years or several years, you can work towards your goal of buying one and then when you’re ready, it will be epic. If the color you want isn’t available at the time, you very well may be able to find one by posting a “wanted” ad in the classifieds on here, or maybe it will be available in another color you want even more by then.I used to think I’d never buy an emperor dragon because of the price, but I ended up purchasing a beautiful white emperor off e-bay for a bit cheaper than the store price a while back.

I think it’s super cool! I’m not a particularly huge snake fan like some people, and don’t really have the desire to hold or own them, but I think they look awesome.
But as others have said, definitely best to stay away and keep pets away.

My husband doesn’t really understand the whole Windstone thing either. He understands my love of dragons and agrees dragons are cool, but thinks I get carried away with/am obsessed with Windstones- and my collection’s not even particularly big compared to some! But we’re kind of even, because I don’t really get his love for legos either.
I’m 27 and got my first Windstone, an emerald mother dragon, at a store when I was a preteen or maybe 13. My cousin had a peacock male dragon and I made her take me to the store where she’d found it, lol. I bought that without my parents there, must’ve been birthday money or something. A little bit later I found a store in a mall closer to me with some Windstones and got a peacock young dragon- my mom wouldn’t let me get another bigger one at the time. It was several years before I got any more Windstones, and I believe I’ve gotten all the rest from online. I love each one- I don’t think I’ll ever sell any!

So many beautiful dragons! Oh my goodness!
Mine was waiting for me when I got home from work! I had to wait to take pictures with my husband’s phone when he got home, though! And they’re not great pics, but they get the point across!
I’m thrilled to have my first grab bag piece! I’m quite happy with him. He’s mostly light blue, with some darker blue (kinda purplish even) and then goldish & bronze coloring on wingtips & horns. I am fond of blue colorings, so, yeah, I’m happy! And he came with a little yellow fuzzy with orange eyes.
