Are you ever going to get more Keeper PYOs in? I keep checking every week or so, but it always says Out of Stock both on the list and on their specific page.

I have all these ideas in my head… 🙂

I’ve heard the occasional reference to White dragons that are “heavy gold” (or “lots of gold” or some similar phrase) and wondered if anyone here can enlighten me.

It sounds like these must be Whites with extra gold shading and/or interference; and I *think* I may actually have one, but I’m not sure how this variation usually manifests.

Does anyone out there collect these, or have both kinds? Could you please post pictures so I can figure out what exactly this variant looks like?

All the time!

Last week I noticed how many different scale shapes the Young Dragon has — rhombuses and squares and peaks and dots and weird trapezoids! And how he has a little raised “cup” around his jewel where the others (with me, anyway — most of my dragons are out of state) don’t.

A few weeks ago I noticed that while the Lap Dragon’s horns have a definite swirl to them, the Old Warrior’s don’t — they have a top ridge, like a ram’s horns.

It took me a month to notice that my Silver Lap is “blushing” gold — there’s two big gold circles on her face, one on each cheek! 🙂

Every time I look at my White and Emerald OWs where they’re sitting side by side, I notice how the areas of gold interference on them are much the same, like a subtle pattern laid atop two different backgrounds.

And I’m constantly noticing the neat sworls and patterns and shapes of the scales in the Old Warrior’s shoulder area.

Haha, me too! He’s the only royal hatcher I have, and that’s why I like him so much — his pose and his face make him look so intelligent, like a miniature adult rather than a baby. There’s a world outside that egg, it’s full of tasty and fascinating stuff, and he’s going for it *this instant* — nothing is going to get in his way! 🙂

Plus, of course, his huge eyes and his itsybitsy muzzle are darn adorable!

He’s the only one of the royal hatchers I really liked the look of, enough to buy — the other two just seem really awkwardly placed, to my eye. But the kinglet, with his teensy little nose peeking out and his hands braced to scrabble free… Adorable! My favorite by far. Obviously! 🙂

Goodness, let’s see!

Whenever I try to count them I always forget one of the “miscellaneous” pieces somewhere, but I’ll do my best!

I have the following pieces in White:
Emperor, Old Warrior, Male, Scratching, Mother, Lap, Young, Fledgling — that makes 8 to start.

Then I have 1 Emerald OW, 1 BVP OW, and 1 Silver Lap, which makes 11 total.

Add to that the 3 Orientals (in Peacock) for a total of 14, the two dragon bookends (making 16), a male Ki-Rin (17), Gothic Unicorn (18), and Frog Prince (19). So I think I have 19 factory-finish Windstone pieces.

However, I also have 3 PYO griffins (in various stages of completion), and — for the moment at least — one PYO dragon who will be sent to a friend when finished, so you can count those or not, as you will. 🙂

I don’t think so, but then, I tend to classify “griffin” more rigidly — “feline body + avian head with wings.” So Poads, which don’t look feline (are they supposed to be? I’ve never seen one up close), and are nonflighted, would be a separate taxa by my accounting.

🙂 I’m so glad that someone else out there enjoys classifying mythicals, though — I thought I was probably the only one! (One day I should show you my cockatrice sketches-with-anatomy-and-taxonomic-classifications!)

I vacillate on exactly what level to split off Griffs from the rest of the universe; having SIX limbs makes them pretty hugely different from any of the existing animal groups aside from insects. I think they’d definitely be a separate Class — Class Griffonidae? Or maybe Class Quadripodoptera? 🙂 And then separate Orders for Griffins, Sphinxes, etc?

I use “Avifelis” as the genus name for my griffs — I think I’ve got a pic of Avifelis auranucha in my gallery… 🙂

I saw your reply about this one being an Artist’s Edition, and I can see why… but!

Maybe just a few small changes — yellow or orange eyes instead of the fancy dichroic ones? a darker/bluer muzzle? traces of interference blue as well as gold?

Honestly, I LOVE him exactly how he is, but I can see why you’d want to change it for production, so. Just don’t change the main elements!

It’s too bad he doesn’t have gemstones! (I think this is why the OW is my second-favorite — the Lap has got those extra little shinies on his forehead!)

I marked “Other” for two reasons:

1. I have a complete family plus a few odd-colored dragons, so while I have *most* of my White family on display together, one or two aren’t — my White OW, for instance, is displayed with my other two OWs. And since I have a few “miscellaneous” pieces, like my Male Ki-Rin and my Gothic Unicorn (one I don’t have the family for, the other doesn’t have a family at all), they sometimes end up displayed together.

2. I am a college student, so 95% of my dragons are in a different state. 🙂 My White Young Dragon has taken a vacation from the main family to come keep my books company.
