What does the humidity do to them?

Well, I’m not sure…but both you and Romeodanny have seen this fleabite problem and you both live in areas which are considerably more humid and with bigger temperature swings that I get out where I am (and I’ve never seen this problem), so I’m guessing that the humidity might be what’s degrading the paint…the bigger temperature swings might be a factor too, unless you guys always keep your houses at a fairly constant temp throughout the year via heating/AC…

The last few years it has been very humid. Well, also the temp. can be anywhere from -30 to 40 C. What that is in F? I couldn’t tell you.

That’s -22F to 104F…a lot more temperature variation that I have here in California…

Wow! 😯 Thank goodness I can’t afford one – I would have no place to put it! Maybe Melody will make a mini SK someday. 😉

The large PYO dragon is like a mini-Secret Keeper. Did you see these pictures in the gallery?

You are absolutely right. Since I haven’t the talent to paint one, I will wait and see what the talented people on the board put up for sale (if I can afford theirs, either – they look like alot of work to paint). 😀
That’s what I’m going to do too…I can’t paint one myself either…well, not one that I would want to display anyway… 😆

Most of my Windstones are creatures of some sort — dragons, gargoyles, griffins, kirins, frogs, and flapcats. But I also have the mushroom ring and clawfoot pillar candlelamps, the eggs with eyes/claws bookends, and all 5 of the Kinsella castles.

Yeah, it looks like there are a lot of these fake 2nd chance offers going around, from what people said in the other thread. I guess some people actually fall for it…

And my worst one just happened – got a mint peacock oriental dragon on ebay. Wrote to the seller about how to ship it and it came wrapped in bubble wrap rattling around a box so, of course, she is in many pieces. I am so, so upset. It was a beautiful dragon before the (bleep) person sent it. Now I have to go back to the Post Office but I don’t know if they will honor the insurance. I did pay with a credit card so….
    What a moron! 👿

I almost want to stop buying from Ebayers because of how many I have lost in transit. Im so sorry. I lost a peacock oriental the exact same way. http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m262/skigod377/Picture035.jpg
I have lost 3 white mothers this year alone. I wish you luck at the post office, but if the packing was insufficient, I dont know if they will pay.

Well, luckily ddvm paid with a credit card so she’s covered in any case…

I have a frog wizard where the felt came off (accidentally got liquid paraffin on it and it dissolved the glue), and it has a smooth bottom which is painted the same color as the rest of the piece. There’s a “W” etched on the bottom which is stretched out horizontally.

By the way, how long does it take for stuff to get to you? We’ve established that cookie crumbs are fine, but dried stale cookie crumbs would probably not be good…

Some things get to me in a few days, others, a few weeks. The mail system is so turbulent around here!

Eek! Hmm…sounds like stuff with a long shelf life would be safest then…

something with chocolate chips and macadamia nuts! I think I will make them right now!!! *runs off to make cookies* *Runs right back because she has no brown sugar*

Yum…that sounds good. You should be like me…I always keep at least 3 pounds of brown sugar on hand at all times…he he he…but that’s because I like to stockpile baking supplies when it goes on sale…

But you did get the other two…had you wanted to buy all three of them?

If you remember when I joined I stated that I did drag for 11 years and hold the title of Empress 20 of Alameda County. i’m known as the Ivory and Gold Fantasy Dragon Empress so when I saw the Hatching Empress in 23KT Gold I just knew they where for me. At first I ddi want all 3 but if I have gotten the 1st one I would not ahve been able to afford the other 2 so I guess ot all worked out in the end

Its funny how things work out sometimes…he he..

in reply to: Why collect Windstone? #510593

I like Windstones because they’re realistic portrayals of fantasy creatures, and I love the quality and attention to detail. Melody has a knack for capturing the “essence” of the creatures and things and bringing them to life…my Windstones are more like pets than sculptures to me. They appeal to me in a way that none of the other fantasy sculptures on the market do, and they’re the only sculptures that I collect right now — though I’ve been very tempted by Debbi LerMond’s resin horses ever since Cheryl told me about them (the quality and detail is amazing, but they’re very very expensive…) Like Cheryl, I buy Windstones because I like beautiful things and they really enhance my life…definitely for resale because I’ll probably have mine until I die… 😆

By the way, the expression of the mother dragon is just like my parents’ dog when she was curled up (she had orange eyes too) and the scratching dragon reminds me of her when she was scratching!
