I’d like to enter the raffle as well, thank you!
(Let’s hear it for 3 week belated responses whoo!) Thanks!
And since my swapee got this piece I can now post Jumbled Jester here!
When I got the prompts for this piece (medieval, renascence, ancient Japan) I saw some jester and royal court-themed costumes and thought they looked really neat, so I painted Jester with those in mind. The fur was done using a pour paint method which resulted in a one-of-a-kind marbling, and the side scales were painted to represent banners of flags. There’s color shift paint on the belly scales to give a nice colorful pop to the piece, and now that I look at them they kind of seem like coins laid out in a row.
A very belated thank you!
I haven’t had much time to work on DIY kits or PYOs because of work. Instead I’ve been doing some thread craft stuff during my down time at work. These two were worked on at the same time; the sea life bookmark is for a friend and the other bookmark was made using excess threads from previous projects.
AAAANNNDDD I went to Michaels and saw that the Artist Loft level 3 heavy body paints are on clearance! The smaller tubes were marked down to $5 (or $7) and the larger tubes were $9. There were some other odds and ends on clearance in the paint aisle so deffo worth checking out.
Welcome back to the sporadic Craft Store Report! Today’s Report is that Michael’s has the Decoart Enchanted paints on Clearance (currently $2, regular price $3.49). Some Decoart Pure paint is also on Clearance ($2, regular price $3.99). Other reported Clearance items include Decoart Neon paints, Craftsmart Premium matte metallic paint, Anchor brand embroidery thread and wool, and much more paint than I can list here.
As always Your Mileage May Vary!
Thank you for tuning into the Craft Store Report and Happy Hunting!I’d like to enter the raffle!
Wow that piece came along pretty fast! I really like how much fur detail is on the face.
Is there going to be an entire “Gummi” collection with different flavors?
Thanks! The dark stripes against the extremely bright yellow is one of my favorite things about this piece.
Finished one! This was in WIP Purgatory for a while and it’s nice to see it done.
Presenting Striped Seabeauty! The hipp’s body was “painted” with modified color pouring to get a unique one-of-a-kind marbling and coated with gloss varnish to really bring out the colors. Ultra matte varnish was used on the rocks and all the other decorations got a satin coating.
I plan to list it for sale a little later.
It’s Aquamarine.:)
Yay we’re bringing up discussion of the pyo castle again! I love that castle and am SUPER happy to see it earnestly being talked about. The homely look of it is just *chef’s kiss.*
Since I cannot get onto Facebook on my phone (I only use it on my laptop), I’ll put this here.
Squeaking for a tiger-themed grab bag.
Seeing as how many people on fb are obsessed over the tiger theme, and with how expensive ebay pieces get nowadays, I think doing a grab bag would be the best way to get a reasonably-priced tiger-colored piece to most people.
Mayhaps have the gb be a smaller sculpt while still painting some larger pieces for ebay since the ebay ones will bring in the big bucks for sure.Maybe Tiger baby Poads?
Melody did some tiger tadpoads for the Safari Grab Bag but it might not be fun doing enough for a tiger-theme Grab Bag. Especially when some of the patterns don’t go well and the tadpoad needs a black belly to cover up the goofs. 🙂
She also painted four or five Tasmanian Tiger (thylacine) tadpoads. They are cute too!I had actually thought of baby Poads (since people also expressed interest in Poads), and using more than just the brown-ish tiger color. White, bright orange, and those Tasmanian Tiger designs too (this is the first I’ve seen them and I think they look neat).

Looking back at what sculpts have sold for what price recently, this one was kind of reasonable.
