Thanks! I used a 1:1 ratio of a darker blue and antiquing medium from Amazon. I know others use paint and retarder together.

Thanks lapis! That lady cat was from the first grab bag I got after joining the forum last year. It also is a good match for my kitty that I lost in January 2012. Someone else on another thread mentioned how grab bags can have a sense of humor. I think sometimes the grab bag fates gift us with something that is meaningful to us. Not every time, and not often, but I miss my kitty very much, and opening this one almost made me cry.

I have 11 GB sculpts. I only had one (!) sculpt before joining the forum. Now I am up to 21 plus 6 PYOs. My collection is made up mainly of pebbles, but once my next sculpt arrives, I will have 4 mini keepers. I also have one hatching empress, one fledgling, and one baby dragon. Each in different colors. I seem to be going for a mix of different sculpts and different colors.

You should look through the various PYO threads. There is so much info there. some use cheaper paints, others go the pricier route. If you have a Michaels near you and can get one of their coupons, you can use it towards a set of paints, which is nice. I’ve got a mix. Kinda depended what was on sale vs what colors they had. Many thin coats are better than thick ones. Build up the color. Again, look through some of our threads. Some of us have sets of pictures showing the progression of our pieces. Just dive in and go for it! If seriously budgeting, get the PYO first. Then decide how/what to paint it as. That way you only buy the colors you think you’ll need. Get a medium to thin the paints with and a set of brushes with a couple different sizes. When in doubt, go smaller. I haven’t used a couple of my larger ones at all.
