I have to share a story that is wonderfully weird. I have the Windstone website up at work and check in the store and forum from time to time–a little break for me. Well I see that they had 1 Puffin silver Bengal up–of course I pounced on it and when I was checking out, I forgot the password to my paypal account! 🙄 Couldn’t remember it to save my life! :shout: Well I figured I would go back and just do a Money Order and beg Susie to send me a paypal invoice to pay when I got home. Had to log in again and I see Puffin out of stock and when I check my cart, it was empty and I see 3 registered users in the store so I figured I lost it and someone else got it.
Well I get home and check my email and I see one from Windstone and one from eBay. Well guess what, it was for Puffin! 😮 😀 The ebay one was an invoice and of course I paid for it right away! So it seems that I had secured this item and didn’t realize it! For once something weird worked out in my favor! 😈
I’ve been on a roll lately–I should play the Lotto, I mean things are working out for me for once! And to top it off, I won that Salmon Pearl Lap! [Of course I have to pay for all this winning! HeeHee! And….my workplace is starting to get busy which means they may not cut me another day–I hope, I hope, I hope! Hmmmm, maybe this should go in the Happy Thoughts forum! 😀
I’m still playing around with mine–mix them in paints and I also mix them in the Liquitex Varnish as a final coat. Gives an interesting effect and I like it. Not overly glitterly but when you get it in the sun–WOW! I sometimes mix in a dark powder in a clear coat and put it over light paint–gives a hit of that darker color. I like them! 🙂
You gotta realize that we’re Windstone addicts–no known cure except to get more Windstones! So you had all these addicts storming the store at once for their ‘fix’. Not for the faint hearted XD !

WooHooWooHooWooHooWooHooWooHoo! 😈 I don’t win that much so am very happy when I do! Think the Kirin was a little diversion for me and people may have been paying attention to that! That’s good because now I have my very own Sushi! 😀 😆 XD
Well—WOOHOOWOOHOOWOOHOOWOOHOOWOOHOOWOOHOOWOOHOO! 😀 (Really needs an emotion icon that jumps up and down.) Well I won something tonight using my method of putting the highest I would pay, then walk away. Wouldn’t even sit in the last remaining seconds to watch it and if it went over, I couldn’t afford it! I WON THE SALMON PEARL LAP–I think I was lucky because that Kirin is still up and is now over $500—way above what I would want to pay–no telling how much it will go for–so it was probably a little diversion for me. So the second thing I ever won by bidding on a Windstone store piece! 😀
Sorry, didn’t mean to hijack but we were on the subject of bidding and such so sometimes, my simple method does work! 😀 😀 :yes: 😈 [Hops around dancing like a fool but enjoying herself!] XD
Well I’ve gotten mad to have an item I was the highest bidder on disappear from right beneath my nose! 😡 Then I would look at the winning bid and believe me–I did not want to go that high! After I calm down and reason sets in I realize it would have been way too much money to pay for that particular item! If someone can afford that then more power to them! The problem lies when you place your maximum but insanity takes over in the last few seconds when it’s almost a battle between you and this unknow bidder. It can get the best of you and your pocket book.
I usually look at an item I would be interested in and place my bid the last day. That way if the item goes beyond my financial capabilities, then I don’t bother. But if it looks like it would be within my reach then I go for it–place I highest I can and would be willing to pay for that item and then walk away–have to because that maximum could easily be turned into thousands if I’m not careful! Won’t even look until it’s over and I get that ‘sorry loser’ or ‘congradulations you won’ notice in my email. Personally, I like ‘Buy It Now’ pieces–they are the only ones I know I can ‘win’.
Now I love Jen’s stuff but I could never afford one of her pieces on ebay so I don’t even bother. I get upset when I lose an item I was close to winning but I get over it rather quickly. After all it’s only a THING. I’m sure there was a forum member who snatched it from me so I’m happy they got it. Not going to get mad at our beloved forum members over a THING. So, if I win wonderful, if not, probably couldn’t afford it anyway! 🙂
Man this would be hard–I love my Poads and then I love my Griffins–I don’t even want to think about it! I’d probably burn up standing there wondering hmmmmm, which one! 😈 🙄
That’s good to know–that there will be more kitties 😀 I’m missing Puffin and consider myself lucky to get Tiger–I usually aren’t able to get something out of a first batch!
Well I got the mermaid just to see this special paint. I’ll know more of what I think when I get her. I wanted the bengal cats and was only able to get Tiger.
On my order for Tiger, I got a ‘Your Order Has Been Processed’ notice and right after that I get a ‘Your Order Has Been Intiated’ with status not finished. If you have your paypal receipt and transaction number, you should be fine. My order for Tiger still reads Queued. I think the server got overloaded with everyone trying to order at once. There were as many as 65 registered individuals in the store!
I went back and got the Mermaid just to see what the special paint looks like. Those are not flying out of the store as fast. I wanted everything in one package but thought since I really wanted the cats to go ahead and finish that order first.
Man I knew this would happen–just got home from work and there they were and the frustration of trying to get on and buy one–Puffin was already sold out and now Tiger is as well. Whew! Time to sit back and have a cold one! 8)

Ditto here–believe me it was frustrating! It even told me that the store wasn’t accessable at this time and please try later :shout: :shout: :shout: :shout: ! But finally, and I mean finally I was able to get Tiger!
Note to Griffinlover: I got the same thing on my invoice queued–if you have an invoice saying you got one then don’t worry–also if you have a paypal receipt saying you paid a certain amount–you got one. I’m sure with the sudden rush in the store the server must have been going beserk! Think of Snap up there with all these servers sparking! Poor Snap!
Check your email and if you get an email from Windstone saying your order has been processed–you’ve got one! Whew! What a frustrating rush! I thought it was my internet provider! 😮
Bidding can be one of those double edge swords–personally, it depends on how badly you want an item. I like Poads, but am I willing to fork over $500 for one? Don’t think so. I usually look at an item and really want it or not, I place what I would be willing to pay then walk away. Have to otherwise you’re bidding higher and higher and lose sight of what you can afford. For Windstone, I’ve only won one bid, so it doesn’t get you to win the item. That’s okay.
I can see what you mean about snipers–yeah better not put a $1,000 on an item if you can’t afford $1,000 because someone can come in and snipe it and raises your price. It is upsetting to be the highest bidder at $100 then all of a sudden it goes up to $200! But you’re right, if you can’t afford the $200 then you shouldn’t have bid that.
In the end I say all’s fair in bidding and Windstones–but it can get sooooo frustrating sometimes! And….better luck next time! 🙂
I think people snipe because then you have less time to recover and rebid. They usually do it in the last remaining seconds like 10 seconds before auction ends. They want the item and they see what the highest bid is up to. Of course, what they don’t know is what your maximum is–but that only drives up the price for you 😡 . I have mixed feelings about sniping–okay they want the item, but if they unnecessarily drive up your price then that totally stinks! 👿 I don’t think they’ll do it, but too bad ebay doesn’t have a rule about sniping–you can’t come in at the last minute and place a bid unless you already have one legitimate bid on the item. But they get more money so it’s good for them. 😡 👿
