They are in different parts of the forum. I think that’s on purpose.

Im hoping the price dont go much more over 150.00. The poads had more intricate paint jobs with designs on them.

Oh that’s true for sure – but dragons are more popular than poads with a wider audience. A lot of folks don’t collect poads at all, but almost all of us collect dragons.

Again, I don’t have any idea, that’s just what I’m planning on personally in hopes any surprises will be pleasant rather than otherwise! 🙂

Is there any idea when they might hit the store? This week? Next week? It’s hard for me to watch the store with my herd of kids keeping me busy. Also I know it will be one per person so if I wanted to get one for myself and my daughter would that be possible? She’s started collecting the dragons and has already “borrowed” some of mine lol!

Unfortunately they don’t give us estimates on when things will be in the store. “Soon” is the best guess, but with Windstone that could be today or three weeks from now! 🙂 If you are signed up for new item announcements, you should get an email when they are ready.

As for cost, I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA how much, but I’m saving $200 just to be safe. I’m hoping they are less, but I was off by about $80 on the adult poad guess I made, so clearly I can’t guess well!

Rotating them seems like it will be the most likely approach. I think I have enough general input to see if the idea of customizing (eye/gems) a production color piece is feasible.

No one “official” has said yes to these ideas so I still need to see what’s possible. 🙂 Thanks for your input, everyone! 🙂

Out of curiosity, would awarding a grab bag is say the top prizes and having a COA written up for it be an option if any are near the point of completion? That is another way to receive a unique piece. Either way, works for me!

If there is a grab bag with a problem that makes it get with-held from the batch (under-poured feet, a bubble, etc), I sometimes have a grab bag to use, but all the ones that are perfect get sold.

Again, the goal is to not cost Windstone significant income – since putting a grab bag on ebay generates a pretty nice price above and beyond the store price, any held back grab bags tend to head there as long as they are not flawed. 🙂

The production pieces (assuming I can get them) are usually going to be from the seconds cart, not the ones headed for the store. The flaws are generally minor (slight under pouring, small bubbles, paint drips, slightly more visible seams, etc), so they still display well, but perfect pieces rarely end up in a raffle or quest prize.

Would it be possible for like a production piece, but with something more than just eyes? Kinda like #3.

Like it being signed and or 1 simple idea for it asise of just eyes. (like say we want black or silver claw as opposed to the norm or like purple spots on the face, but something super simple). Quest prizes have always had more value to those receiving, something to make it more unique, I would think.

Eyes and gems can be changed, but as some people (like on ebay) already do it on their own, it could make it difficult to tell how legit it would be or if somebody just swapped them out without some type of certificate verifying that. Just thinking..

No, I wouldn’t even ask about any customizations that involved painting. It would just be eyes and gems.

Quest prizes are signed and come with a COA – that would remain unchanged so that the customization (if Melody agreed) would be official.

I’ll try to answer the questions still outstanding as best I can. 🙂

Watching the store for other people – You can email Susie and ask her to hold one for someone. They’ll have to pay right away since there are no more money orders, but she did say she would place orders for watchers if they contacted her. However, she’ll take those orders as she receives them and if the dragons sell out before she gets to your request, your watcher might not get one for you.

Credit cards/no paypal – This is a COMMON misconception. You CAN pay on paypal without having a paypal account as long as you have a credit card. Windstone uses Paypal for processing all CC transactions so even if you call Susie with a CC number, it will go through Paypal’s system. But you don’t have to set up an account. 🙂

As far as having someone else buy on your account – you could probably purchase a gift certificate for yourself and then let someone have JUST your forum log-in rather than giving them your Paypal information. That would be safer if you wanted a friend/family member to watch the store for you with your log-in info.

Finally re:selling out – Adult poads lasted over a week (maybe closer to 2 weeks?) and grab bag colts lasted at least 3-4 days. With the MO option removed which requires everyone to actually HAVE the money to place an order AND avoids the issues with people having multiple watchers hold an item for them (we’ve had cases where someone had 3-4 watchers who all held a grab bag for them!), it seems unlikely these will sell out in seconds. I think usually we see about 100-120 of the items go right away, but anything over 130 tends to linger. So with a batch of at least 200, people are probably going to have plenty of time to get these.

Pegasi – My son has this exact same problem. He’s in 5th grade now and I have to say, we haven’t made any HUGE strides.

What I do is ask teachers for permission to have him type any paper he has to turn in due to the hand-writing issues. So far, we’ve never gotten push back. I do not type them for him – he does it himself (though I might help him format it once he’s gotten it all written and help him figure out the spell check and such).

Boys often have more problems at this age than girls with fine motor skills and honestly the hand cramps and the frustration (and the making him feel like he wasn’t smart) wasn’t worth it to me to make him write a ton just for the sake of learning a skill that’s not as valuable as it was 20 years ago. By high-school, they’ll want everything typed anyway!

The other thing you can do is try to make writing more fun. Our third grade teacher would have the kids write on sand trays or in shaving cream on a cookie sheet. It was fun and could get them to practice more. Also, those mediums are easier to make marks in than with a paper/pencil so it can help build fine motor control without wearing them out so fast.

Good luck to you! I won’t say it ever gets easy, but if you work with his teachers, I bet you can find some accommodations that can help relieve the frustration and help make progress!

There are two kirins being added.

One is the PYO sculpt with the fancier scales.

The other is the new baby who is standing on all four legs instead of sitting down. I believe Melody was referencing a grab bag for the standing baby.

I should also have mentioned that this is the official Windstone Pinterest page not just something of my own.

I’m not sure everyone realizes, BipolarBear is a Windstone employee. 🙂 He’s also hosted some of the recent grab bag live streams for us!

There will be a store announcement when they go up for sale.

Again, Windstone usually does not announce days/weeks/timelines due to site crash issues. 🙂

Even once they are all painted, they need eyes and pads. They may need to make eyes (depending on how many sizes/colors they already had available). The pads will have to be cut since this is a new piece, and Brandi/Melody will need to sign the pads and label them as grab bags.

There’s also a fair chance either Pam or Little John will end up livestreaming some of these when they are ready I bet.

They’ll get here soonish I’m sure (all times at Windstone are soon – bonus points if you get the reference!), but just keep an eye on your email for the announcement.

LOL! It wasn’t that bad! XD I got to pet a sheep and buy dead bird parts without someone looking at me like I was crazy!

Oh my gosh! Remember the line for Root Beer? hahaha! I wish I was there right now roasting my butt off instead of watching MORE snow fall!

OMG, that Root Beer line was TERRIBLE. I wouldn’t have minded nearly as much if I hadn’t forgotten my sunscreen at John and Melody’s house! Haha.

I forgot the dead bird parts!!!
