I have been preferring the bright metallic colors to sell wholesale, because they show up well on a store shelf. The subtler colors aren’t as suited for that purpose. A color that is “production” needs to be as simple and foolproof to paint as possible.
While I agree that brighter metallic colors stand out better at the far end of a Gift Shop, or really make a display window stand out, I’ve never been a fan of colors like Amethyst, Emerald Peacock, Violet Flame or even the latest Blue Morpho schemes. They look too much like toys, and not really like dragons. True, most everything Windstone makes is fantastical, but I prefer more realistic, believable color schemes. The original retired colors like Emerald, White and Peacock are believable, because dragons and gem tones are easily associated. White could be related to Pearls, or Ancient, wise dragons.
Theoretically “production” means items that we make in large batches, and always have on hand, boxed and ready to ship to retailers. They are our standard colors, painted by our production painters in pretty, but not overly detailed paint jobs.
We have changed the meaning of the term “limited production” several times!
When we started using the words “Limited production”, that was what we called colors that we were retiring, but still had some inventory left.
It then came to mean items that we would paint from time to time in smaller batches, but we wouldn’t always have them boxed and ready to ship instantly. This was important for gift stores to know, especially around Christmas. Then “limited production” came to mean small batches of special colors that I painted and signed, but weren’t numbered, like limited editions.
Now, since we make almost everything in small batches, “limited production” has come to be what we call most of the newer colors we make.
How we decide what colors to make as production or limited production: It is kinda random…
If you have noticed, we constantly do lots of wild “test paints” that we sell on ebay. If one of them is a reasonably easy color to paint, seems popular, and is a color we need, it might get made as production or limited production color next. For example, we retired the “Red Fire” color, so “Fire Berry” could be next in line to replace it. And although the “Black Rainbow” is one of my favorites, we already have a couple basic black dragon colors, so I don’t want to make that one a limited production color yet.Starting from the last paragraph, I’m really hoping that Fire Berry doesn’t look anything even similar to Violet Flame. I understand that if Fire Berry does, in fact, become a Production or Limited Production color scheme, that it will be altered somewhat to keep the Test Paint “special”. I’m just hoping that it’s not altered in such a way that it’s too bright [I really think it’s bright enough], or have blue eyes. Most of Windstone’s Production/LP colors have blue eyes… I think if the eyes are going to be changed at all, they should be Peach, or at least, basic Orange.
As for another Limited Production color… I’m going to put in a squeak here for Sand dragons. That color scheme is probably the most epic since the LP Ocelot Gryphons. The Black Rainbow scheme is nice.. but like you said, the Black Gold and Black Violet Peacock color schemes are still currently on market. And both have blue eyes.. seriously, lol… what is with the blue eyes? What I would REALLY love, is if Moss were released as a LP paint. Emerald Peacock is more blue, and fantasy-based. An Earthy green color scheme would be awesome.. especially if Fire Berry was released as a Production/LP color. Moss and Fire Berry really compliment each other well 🙂
I’d love to see a more “true” green color available since Emerald was retired.↞↞≪∙ FOREVER SEEKING •↟•

Ms. Melody, how many of the Wild Dog edition were painted? Just curious :3

☙ #224 KOI GB '22 Young Qi'LinSeptember 29, 2015 at 11:23 pm in reply to: The Most Epic Dog Photography by Alicja Zmysłowska #935080Oh yes, I know those breeds of dogs are very intelligent. Not that others are not intelligent, I know there are many smart dogs, but like you mentioned, these ones are highly trainable. The herding dogs just wont be that happy with life unless they have a job to do, a task with which they can please their owners 😛 These breeds live to work 😀 Its in their genes 😛
Your lucky to have owned such a beautiful girl 🙂
Yes, I was really lucky to have had her. She chose me just as much as I chose her. I called her my “Little Garnet Star” [since she was born in January.. and also because aside from Emerald, Garnets are my favorite gems, lol]. She was a really sweet, shy girl, but was definitely independently-minded.
Fantastic photos!
I’ve had an aussie and a few German Shepherds. They are wonderful working dogs with huge hearts and great personalities. I’ve trained several breeds and they are among the top 5 breeds that I find easiest to work with.
They are just happiest knowing they are doing something that makes you happy. Thanks for sharing the photos!
I absolutely LOVE German Shepherds.. we just don’t have enough room for dogs that big… though.. true German Shepherds are only about a medium-sized breed, here in America, everything’s super-sized. Aussies aren’t even supposed to be as big as they are. They’re a small/medium breed that’s been bred to be almost large. What other breeds are you referring to? I love the Euro Shepherd lines [German, Groenendael, Laekenois, etc..], Blue Heelers and similar breeds [Kelpies], Huskies, and Corgis just to name a few 😀
“baby goggies!” as my great-nephew would say – and the last one with the leaf so looks like our Bubba who is in “goggie” heaven. Thanks for sharing and brightening my day

☙ #224 KOI GB '22 Young Qi'LinJust out of curiosity, how do you know if the other bidders are forum members? *scratches head in puzzlement* 🙂
tdm 🙂
I go to the bid history of items I know a specific User has won, and check their bid alias. If the letters and Feedback #s are consistent with other items I know they’ve won, I can be pretty certain on who it is 🙂
Like I said in a different Topic, everyone has two eBay aliases. For example, my bid history alias is “k***e”, but my Feedback history alias is “k***h”. Those letters won’t change unless I change my name. In which case, a name change icon will appear next to it for 30 days. The thing that bugs me though is people who snipe as a game almost just to see if they can win something. I am not saying people do that here but there have been pieces I really wanted in the past and clearly let others know and bid my max and then got sniped at the end only to see that person turn around and re-sell or trade that item later. So it’s almost like they didn’t really want it but just sniped it for fun and that is not fun for people who were watching the item for 7 days who really wanted it! If I see others really want an item more than I do, I don’t bid on it period. I only bid on things I love.
I agree with you here, Kim. I also only bid on pieces I love. There are pieces that I’ve said that I absolutely MUST have, only to end up paying a LOT for IF I even bid on them at all. There was an incident not too long afterward of a Test Paint Ki’Rin selling for less than half the amount it should have sold for because someone said it was a Grail piece. Still, all is fair game on eBay. I just prefer to be courteous. I really don’t have to be 🙂

☙ #224 KOI GB '22 Young Qi'LinI am confused! Not about the questionable listing, because it does raise an eyebrow….i am comfused with some of these comments. you all started out with zero as a feedback score. Your reasoning implies it would have been acceptable for a seller to turn you away when you were new to ebay. How would anyone get ahead if they all thought like this?
eBay has been hit with numerous accounts for fraudulent purposes only. I’ve actually had several successful transactions with Users who are new, have 0 Feedback, or less than 10 Feedback, however I do require they contact me first before bidding/purchasing. I do not find that an unreasonable request.
On a general note:
This listing raises flags for many reasons. 1, the Seller’s ID is comparable to accounts that are used for scams.
2, the Bidder who raised the price to over $1.6k, only to remain outbid by another Bidder with 40 Feedback because they kept countering, is questionable with over 7 days left of the auction. I mean, c’mon.. seriously??
3, to date, this is the MOST active Windstone auction aside from Windstone’s own auctions. Normally, listings don’t get hit so much. At least not in the first week. 4, nothing about this listing adds up or makes sense, the Seller’s replies are vague, evasive and defensive. eBay is not THAT hard to understand.↞↞≪∙ FOREVER SEEKING •↟•

☙ #224 KOI GB '22 Young Qi'LinI wonder if it’s a coincidence both the bidder’s names are showing as e***l. I wrote the seller asking them about the zero feedback bidder who upped the price to $1600. After I messaged the seller though, this is what they said:
“First of all I dint have anyone upping the bid,,second of all I have been on the phone twice today trying to get help with taking the post down to redo it…and third the pics are clear enough for anybody to see how many pieces it is and if there not sure they can ask …but thank you for the info
the bid is only at 322 how is that upping it from another account.,,I can get that for one statue…like I said befor I m just learning ebay this is my first time and I was confused on how it went…”
– [name removed by Moderator]So according to what they said, they think each of these used statues is worth over $300? So yeah all I can picture is this going very badly for whoever wins these if it is a legitimate buyer who thinks they are worth that much because the other person who drove up the bids. Too bad ebay changed it so we can’t message people anymore who unknowingly bid on something they shouldn’t. When I used to collect beanies, I used to message bidders who bid on counterfeit ones letting them know and they were very grateful to know.
51 bids, and counting.. to me, that’s the most suspicious thing of all, regarding shill bidding. I don’t believe them for a millisecond they, or someone else, is not driving up the bid. ALL of those pieces are common enough that the price this auction is currently at, is ludicrous. As for the names being similar, I really think it’s a mere coincidence. Everyone has two bid aliases. For example, my bid alias is “k***e” when I’m bidding on something, but shows up as “k***h” in the Feedback. I also really miss being able to message other Users regarding an auction. eBay should bring that back, but we all know that’s never gonna happen.
IF they are all in excellent condition, which they’re clearly not, the gargoyles are worth maybe $80 each at the most; the Emperor averages at about $200-$250; the Wizard $200 max; both Scratching dragons about $80-$150 each; both Mother dragons about $50-$200 each, depending on the seller. I’ve seen a Peacock in perfect condition go for $50 just recently; Mother Unicorn, about $60; Male dragon, at the most $200. The seller I just mentioned also had the Male listed for $50; max of Store price on all the smaller dragons, and maybe $80 max on the card holders. So, with all those calculations added up at the max, it’s just under $1800 for pieces in perfect condition w/boxes, not including the shipping cost. For this lot, I’d say the worth is maybe a max of $1500 shipped. I highly doubt the boxes are included, and each piece has signs of wear.

That would be totally awesome!! Should put in a squeak for a sculpt like that xD
Wow, awesome photos! I love border collies! They are so smart! I used to have one that looked a bit like the dog in the third photo. He passed away of cancer a few years ago and I miss having a dog. We just have cats now. I used to take him to agility classes and sheep herding out in the country! I want another dog! I should ask my landlord about that!
It’s really sad to lose a pet because of disease. I know what that’s like.
My Aussie girl would have been 11 this past January.
She was put to sleep because of epilepsy, the curse of that breed.
We still have two dogs, but I miss having my own.↞↞≪∙ FOREVER SEEKING •↟•
