Ok, total “noob” question, but what the heck is a “swap”?
Every now and then someone will host a swap. It’s where you email them that you are willing to do a swap and they will enter your name basically into a hat. Once they have all the names they pull them out and notify everyone of their swap partners name along with some basic ideas of what that person is looking for in a paint your own (PYO). You then have a set amount of time (usually several weeks) to get the PYO sculpt and paint it and then mail it to your swap partner and vise versa.
They will also host these on occasion for other things like, a chocolate care package, full of chocolates from around your area that others might not see or have access to or handmade Christmas ornaments.
There are some beautiful swap pieces painted. It is a fun way to get an original piece of art.
How fun! Too bad I can’t paint! LoL But the treats unique to where you live thing is pretty cool. In Arizona we have some interesting ones, for sure. Like prickly pear suckers, which are yum! And some stuff unique to the native american populations around here, too. Fun “souvenirs” and post cards! Oooh, a post card swap would be fun! Sending postcards from your area, that could be neat! I hope whenever another swap happens that I am able to participate!
Can’t sleep, so I shall post PYO photos. I ADORE this guy. I have had a bunch of really good PYOs in a row now, I think. 😀 The interference blue on his feathers came out beautifully, and the subdued colors under it turned out even better than I’d planned. (Although I almost named him the bone gittygriff instead of the stone kittygriff, because “aged bone” is the name of the main paint color I used on him. But I didn’t want people to think he was meant to be creepy.)
Just going through people’s PYO threads. Saw this kittygriff and HAD to tell you that it’s really really nice! I think it’s my favorite PYO kittygriff I’ve seen. Well done!
I want a unicorn bunny! I want pebble bunnies too!
Ooooh! Pebble bunnies! *squeak squeak*
Ok, I want the Robin. Minus the worm. LoL
Oh my chickadee!!!
How lovely! One of my favorite birds! I’m kinda a nut for birdies in general, but this is one of my all time favorites. I can’t wait to check out this guy’s gallery! Thanks for sharing!

Seafoam arrived today and is absolutely gorgeous! Those pictures don’t do him any justice whatsoever! Unfortunately for me, my camera sucks and only takes very grainy pictures. But I just want to tell everyone what amazing work you do! Seriously, the prettiest piece I’ve seen that wasn’t painted by Melody herself!
I can’t wait for “Seafoam” to arrive! A gorgeous piece that is so irresistible, I can hardly stand it! The excitement is palpable!
My dragon name is Deadly Shadow. Cool! I like the sound of that! 😉
I don’t have anything but Windstones. The only other dragon I’d be interested in owning (outside of windstones) is a replica of Draco (from Dragonheart, the one with Dennis Quaid and Sean Connery). ‘Cuz that’s probably my most favorite dragon movie ever made, and the most “realistic” dragon I have seen outside of Windstones.
January 26, 2016 at 11:09 pm in reply to: Pics from the Windstone Factory and Corvallis (Link fixed) #940667Oh my GOSH! I want the “lightly dusted lavendar” ones!!!!!! I’m dying!
And the white butt poad, if he has the right color of eyes, I want him too!
I never realized they were a real thing! LoL I’m ignorant sometimes…
I thought they were fantasy animals like the Ki-Rin!
I love the badger one, just wish the eyes were a different color. Also the one in the second picture from the top, on the bottom right, the pale one with light markings . . . so pretty!
Happiest of happies to you on your birthday!
