Pet tanuki?

Apparently someone has a pet tanuki. I saw this article on Yahoo today. The owner also has a Twitter page about the her/his pet.

I was talking to someone on Deviant art that has a pet tanuki. I don’t remember what country she lives in, but indicated that there are many tanuki owners. Tanukis are illegal in the US though (bummer) because they can become a feral, invasive species. Sounds like they are spreading across Europe.

I thought they were fantasy animals like the Ki-Rin!

Nope XD and it’s a good thing because they’re super adorable! (And intensely fluffy.) Although the English translation wrongly calls them raccoons in the movie, a great (if slightly weird) tanuki film is Pom Poko, by Studio Ghibli. 😀

Probably MUCH better pets than actual raccoons.

Ah,too cute! I’d much rather have one of those guys watching me from the storm drain than the meanie raccoon who lives outside my building. He peeks up whenever I go by to hiss at me, totally freaky!

Oh those are adorable! They become legal in the US and that might be something I add to my furry family!
