      Oooooooo! I can’t wait either!
I’ve been busy trying to get my paints bought and together! Already have my design ideas for a few different PYO pieces, depending upon what my Swapee requests!

Has anyone ever tried the Liquitex BASICS variety of Acrylic paints? They are listed as the ‘Academic’ grade, not the ‘Professional’ but I believe those would still be better than some of the craft paint brands – correct?

All the Michael’s stores around me only carry the ‘Heavy Body’ and ‘BASICS’ varieties, none of the ‘Soft Body’ paint variety.

          Hey FlamingDragon!
I was also thinking of trying the Liquitex Spray paints, might get one today to try.
The Krylon and Montana Gold spray paints do indicate that they are acyrlics on the DickBlick site, but the Krylon site, and the can’s label, says the Krylon spray acyrlic is ‘Enamel’ and the enamal part was what I was not sure of.
I did also review the information on the Liquitex site about their spray paints, and I believe I would feel safer trying those.

          Thanks for your comments! ๐Ÿ™‚

Hey, I haven’t painted a PYO piece yet, but if the Gypsum soaks up paint as much as it seems to by the comments I’ve read, I probably will feel more comfortable painting a base coat. As a few mentioned, the color I use would depends upon what my color scheme will be – light or dark.

            QUESTION:
I have an idea I would like to try and wanted to know if anyone else has tried this…. Ever try using one of the Krylon Color Master, or Montana Gold Acrylic spray paints as a base coat? I read that the Gypsum needs to ‘breath’ and would these allow this?

In Maryland we also see more ‘Piebald’ and White deer, but there have been one or two actual ‘Albinos’ with pink eyes seen on our Eastern Shore.

I’ve personally seen one of the ‘Piebalds’ which are mostly a mixture of almost all white with tan spotting along the back to the tail, around the shoulders, neck and head … more like a tan/brown/white Tobiano Paint horse. They’re very pretty.

Here on the Western Shore [of the Chesapeake Bay] white-tail deer were re-introduced in the 1950s. I don’t recall where the stock came from, but we also have had occasional piebald deer and very rare all-white ones. The last all-white deer in my area was about 10 or 15 years ago and disappeared while still a fawn. ๐Ÿ™

Yes, I’ve seen pictures from friends who live in Western Maryland where some were sighted either in the Garrett, Washington, and Allegeny counties. Do you also live in Maryland or in Virginia, etruscan? If so, I’m a neighbor living in the Severn/Millersville area – just south of Baltimore! ๐Ÿ™‚

                          Uh Oh, what happened?
When I logged on this morning at 8:30 AM (EDT) all the columns were formatted perfectly and were not small on the far right as lysithian noted. Now, at 1:30 pm (EDT), the formatting issue seems to be back.

Hi! Nice Site update… I looked at the Store site and found it easy to use and found some product pieces I didn’t see before.

For example, in the PYO category I saw that there were some items (Black Rescues) I didn’t know could possibly be available at a later time. I’ve already clicked on a couple to be notified when back in stock. ๐Ÿ™‚

Question, though… the far right column in the Store doesn’t seem to be formatted correctly, those category icons/boxes are much smaller. I assume you’re working on a fix?

Thanks for the kind words, everyone! I must say I can see getting addicted to this very easily. It had been a long time since I did anything like painting and I forgot how relaxing and enjoyable it is- I had a lot of fun planning this guy and then seeing that vision turn to reality. I have a winged wolf to paint next and am hoping that the Keeper dragon models get restocked soon.

Ela_Hara- I’m sure yours will turn out even better! I think the best advise I could offer is to spend the extra money on higher quality paints and to really plan out what you want to do ahead of time, both of which were in the PYO tutorial. I thought it was really helpful and actually walked around with it up on my smartphone while shopping.

Oh, believe me, I’m really big about researching, which could be a good or bad thing depending upon your take on it (takes a little bit of time for me to actually get to the ‘doing’ part). There’s A LOT of great tips on the Forum posts and I’ve just about read every one in the PYO and repairs forums going back to 2011 or earlier. A really good one was using a Cake decorator’s stand that is basically a ‘lazy susan’ to be able to revolve your PYO piece around without holding/picking it up unless you need to. Great tip!

Good Luck on your Wolf! ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you everyone! I will definitely look up those threads rock-reader! ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ve been wondering, I thought a poad was a budgie cross guinea pig but the name (to me) suggests a pigeon crossed with a toad! Which is right? ๐Ÿ™‚

Poads(tm) most closely resemble budgie / guinea pig hybrids, but their bums are rounder, and they have stubby little tails that guinea pigs lack entirely.
They have no toad in them. I just made the name up and it stuck.

                                  Hey, I was partly right!
I thought the Poads’ heads/faces were patterned after Budgies (also known as Parakeets)! I used to have a pretty green budgie when I was a kid, they are so cute and intelligent! ๐Ÿ™‚

It also makes more sense now about the guinea pig back end, although I initially thought ‘hampster’. I was trying to figure out how the ‘-oad’ worked in with the name, and just couldn’t figure that part out.

Good to know! Thanks for the full explanation, Melody!
