Thanks Ela_Hara. 🙂 Every little bit of advice will help. I can’t help but think how comical it must be for someone watching me flail around. I feel so bad for that little pony.
I’ve taken a few lessons now and I must say, it’s not at all easy for someone in their late 20’s to start riding haven never ridden before…ever! I’ve taken 4 one hour lessons so far and I’m having a hard time as expected. My trainer is cool but somewhat impatient because I’m not learning as quickly as she wants me too. I know it’s hard for someone who’s been riding their whole life not to understand the struggles for an adult newbie rider. However, I’m determined to learn this and I don’t give up easily. Since there’s a few members here that own and ride ponies/horses, I was curious what advice you guys might offer aside from watching youtube vids and reading books. I’m already doing that but there’s contradicting info.
I’m having trouble with:
Keeping my lower legs in place (even in two point). I start out right and as soon as the horse trots they come forward and I loose the stirrups. I’m told not to grip with any part of the leg so not sure how to keep them in place.
I’m having a hard time with two-point. Seems simple enough and yet I can’t not use the stirrups to stand and I tend to “fall” forward. My legs come forward as well pushing on the stirrups even though my heels are down. I don’t understand driving your weight down into your heels. How does your feet not slip out backwards when you do that and how is that not standing in the stirrups?
I’m generally having a hard time with proper seat position too. I feel like I’m sitting on my seat bones, but then she says I’m not sitting right.
Thanks everyone and thanks for the PM litteironhorse. 😉 You’re right. I started looking around for some apparel a few days ago and oh my, you can’t buy much of anything for under $40. ?
I know. They were gifted to me. I didn’t know what to do with them because I don’t like rip-offs, but I also don’t have the heart to toss them in the trash.
Are the sticky threads missing? I can’t find them.

Putting in a vote or 50 for autumn leaf kirins!
*cough, cough* Grave digging this thread.
Also, please say you’ll restock the autumn leaf cat sconces.
Getting multiple expired classified warning emails again. Twelve in the past two hours. I only have one or two classified ads.
I named my red fire old warrior, Big Red. The name stuck when family members asked which piece in my collection was my favorite. I said, “the big red one”. I’m the only collector in my family so they don’t know what the different sculpts are called. Hence, the name Big Red stuck. None of my other pieces have names at this point.
Habanero looks hot! Pun intended. 😉 Love the heart-heart shaped mark on Aphrodite and the blue-greens you used on Poseidon. All your pyo’s turn out beautiful! Love to see what you’ll paint next.
Thanks Melodious and Meowmix.
Funny, Meowmix. Now that you mentioned it, she does appear somewhat plushy.
Finally got around to painting a luna moth scheme, although it didn’t turn out quite the way I wanted. She turned out a bit Hulk-ish. She’s my second PYO and she’s still better than the first one I painted at least.
She’s in the classifieds and on ebay. http://windstoneeditions.com/classifieds/sale/pyo-unicorn-luna-moth
I don’t have a way to post pictures here since my computer poopered out. Is there anyone who can help me by posting the pics of her here?
So sorry for your loss. Losing a parent or parents is one of the worst feelings. I, as well as others here I’m sure, very much feel your pain. I lost my mother 6 years ago to a sudden heart attack. It still feels like it happened a short time ago. There were no warning signs. She was fine and then…gone. I’d like to say the pain of loss will go away in time, but it will always be there in some form. It will just become manageable over time ans easier to deal with.
I don’t know if you’re religious or believe in an afterlife. If you are and do, try take comfort she is free from the constraints, pains, and indignities of a mortal shell. She’ll be watching over you and your family until it’s time to reunite on the other side.
Best wishes.
