How goes the production of ‘crazy’ cats?
Well these guys turned out not crazy, but mostly fishy. I started painting “Fat cats”, and they lend themselves so well to having pictures on their backs, that they all ended up as canvases for images of some kind, rather than say, zebra stripes or something. So, we got a good sized batch of GB fish cats. Almost every cat has either a koi, fancy goldfish or Betta on them. There are a few with forest scenes, but those are rare.
I like the idea of having the fish on their backs where they can’t reach them. Those guys are big enough without the extra food. 🙂 The fish wouldn’t last long anywhere else.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I wouldn’t expect cats or foxes to be anything less than naughty. They’re just being what they are. 🙂
They’re all so cute, I’d be happy with any of them.
That being said I can tell you right now that a calico or tortoise shell colored one would result in an embarrassing happy dance (possibly with a high pitched squeal).
I’ve always been a sucker for cats with orange and black in any quantity. But then I’m just a sucker for cats in general 😉
August 23, 2014 at 2:25 am in reply to: Grab Bag Lady pebble cat going into store at 7:00 p.m. PST 8/22/14 #917822Thank you for the max 2 limit. I can’t wait for my kitties to get here. 🙂
I’m surprised they went so fast considering I didn’t notice any slow down on the website.
P.S. thanks for releasing them while I’m on vacation, I wouldn’t have been able to grab them if I had been at work.
The sellers name is auction-victoria , located in BC Canada.
I’ve bought a few things from this seller before. They’re always great to deal with. They had a couple of issues with their listing for the left and right hand-held dragon sconces, and I ended up buying the wrong one based on the pictures and not the description. The were super understanding and more than happy to send me the one I wanted instead. Then they thanked me for letting them know that the listings had been wrong so they could correct the second one. 🙂 They’re great people.
Congrats on the CP mother. There’s just something about the CP coloring that seems so “natural” on the dragon sculptures.
Yay!!! Kitties, Kitties, Kitties!!!!! I love the pebble cats, in any color. Thanks for the hard work Melody, all your grab bags are outstanding.
The above is an obvious statement that I personally do not have any real sculpting tools, so I make do with what I find around the house. 🙂
Did you buy that little guy from Victoria, B.C on eBay? If so I’ve bought from that seller before, and they are super easy to communicate with. Really friendly and helpful. They’re usually really careful when they pack Windstones. I’ve never gotten a broken one from them, and I’ve bought both big and small pieces.
As for fixing him I would recommend apoxie sculpt. I received an owl bookend recently who lost an ear during shipping, and the apoxie sculpt worked great to fix it. I had recovered about half of the pieces to reattach and just used the putty to fill in the missing parts. If you use a washcloth or paper towel to pat down the putty you get a great stone like texture. (I think drag0nfeathers mentioned that on the forums before.)
For the smoother texture on the wings I would suggest taking a smooth sided pen and rolling it across to get the smooth texture – then if you have a cuticle pusher (the plastic/rubber kind) use it to kind of push the putty down in little rows to create the ridges. You could use a toothpick first to make the deeper lines, then when you flatten it they should still be there – just less defined.
Good luck fixing it.
It may be a bit harder to get the pattern to match if you have to do it completely from scratch but it should work. It’s kind of like playing with play-doh only more nervewracking. 🙂
Such a cute little kirin. I love the scales, but I didn’t bid because I didn’t like the white fur. The little black splotch on the side of the nose almost did me in, but I restrained myself. Congrats on the grab, he looks great with your poad.
When he arrives can you maybe post pics? It was hard to appreciate his coloring in the blog photo.
The directions are on this page:

Thank you so much. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I looked and looked but couldn’t find that option anywhere. You have no idea how much better I feel now that I’ve been able to leave a reply. It’s a load off my mind being able to explain that my only negative feedback ever was due to a buyer being unreasonable.
Thank you.
Yes, that is true – you can reply to feedback that was left for you.
If possible could someone explain how to do this? I thought that the option had been removed when they stopped letting sellers leave negative feedback for buyers(which is completely unfair IMHO.)
Congrats!!! He’s a gorgeous dragon.
Wow!! I always work under the policy that it never hurts to ask once, but I’ve never gotten a violent response like that. I’ve had to send rude messages to people who won’t stop asking, even when I’ve told them no several times(but that was after several polite messages that they ignored)
I have a feeling you got someone who isn’t entirely comfortable with the internet and just immediately assumes that anyone trying to ask for something they don’t understand is trying to con them. Just move on and be glad they didn’t agree. They sound like the type who would have made the entire transaction very unpleasant for you.
