I’ve been dying for an Adult Amethyst Oriental for like two years now. Wish I’d seen this! Ah well. 🙂

Is her ebay username robinshopper61? I purchased a dragon from someone named Robin. It arrived with a repair that wasn’t mentioned in the auction and photographed so you couldn’t see it. I asked for a $10 refund. Almost THREE MONTHS ago. Have asked several times about it and she keeps stringing me along. She claims financial hardship, but three months is a pretty decent amount of time to scrape $10 together. :/

I can’t edit my original post to delete my alternates, but for simplicity’s sake my three entries can be the ‘top three’ in my original post. 🙂

…If you look at it from the point of a merchant-folks that own their own stores have to pay operational costs as well as fees to accept credit/debit cards.
With ebay, you dont need a store front, and you really dont have to advertise as much as if you had your own website. And really, the way I look at it is that you can have your own website (even .coms DO cost money-I was paying $90 a year for my hosing package, plus another $5 or so just to have the name) and list things for sale-but if no one sees them, you’re not making money. Put them on ebay, people bid on them. Yes, you’re losing SOME money, but you’re making some too.

I hate some of their policies, and I hate their customer service (ebay AND paypal!) but if you need to sell something, they are a good place to go for that as you reach a HUGE audience.

That right there is pretty much why I still don’t truly hate ebay and paypal. I do find a lot of their practices highly annoying, but it’s a relatively cheap service to use that exposes the goods you’re selling to a huge audience. Your item is much more likely to sell. I too calculate 15% into my ebay asking prices so as not to lose money on my sales, and try to sell on the forum first. It works ok for me; but then again I do not sell much on ebay, I’ve managed to get my feedback high enough so they don’t hold my funds, and I’ve sold enough on there to get decent ‘ebay instincts’ when it comes to dealing with buyers.

Most of my transactions go swimmingly. But for the few times I have had to rely on Paypal/Ebay’s Buyer Protection, the fees I pay so PP/Ebay can run this service for its users seem an acceptable tradeoff. And ESPECIALLY when you buy something from someone outside ebay. I refuse to pay for a Windstone with anything other than Paypal when I buy off of Craigslist. Think you can call a number on a money order when the Windstone you paid for never shows up? NOPE. But if you go through Paypal, you can get your money back.

I guess I’m playing devil’s advocate here, but there are some benefits to using the services. Whether or not the price paid for those services is worth it; well I guess that’s more an individual opinion. 😉

<3_<3 Those are beautiful! I just love the colors. I think the top two are my favorite. Did you do that orchid arrangement yourself? I've never seen anything like it.

Aww, Megan, for starters, what program are you using to resize them?

You’re able to upload them to a photo hosting site afterwards, right?

Are you able to save the photos, but not upload? How far into the process can you get ‘normally’ before something goes wrong?

If you keep saving a new, correctly sized version of your JPEG, but it won’t size correctly when you upload it or post it on the forum, you can try deleting the one you uploaded. Then, upload the correct-sized one, but give it a different filename than the old one. I have found that photobucket won’t ‘update’ your photo if you re-upload with the same filename.

If you can upload the photos fine, but they’re just a little too large, you can add some code to your forum post to size them correctly too. The standard ‘post an image’ code on the forum looks like this (but without spaces between the brackets):

                                If you do this:

….then no matter what size your uploaded image is, the code will tell it to post at 700 pixels wide.

Hope that helps–let me know if it doesn’t. And do get some rest, between all of us on the forum we’ll help you get your pics up!

Has the seller left you feedback already?

Have you left feedback for the seller?

If he left positive feedback for you already, but you haven’t left any for him yet, you could mention that if you can’t come to a solution with this seller, that you’ll pretty much have no choice but to leave negative feedback.

That alone is a fairly motivating factor to getting a seller to work with you. Most of the time anyway….No one wants negative feedback. It’s not exactly nice to ‘use’ this to motivate them, but with some sellers I dealt with in the past, I wasn’t left with much choice, and it ended up helping. And it IS why the feedback system exists at all–to hold sellers and buyers accountable for their personal ebay practices.

Gotta be careful to simply _state_ this though, as a fact, and don’t use it as a threat! Very fine line there. The couple times I had to bring up this point with a seller, I worded what I wrote very carefully. :/
