I just checked the Facebook photos and oh WOW, that African wild dog bat-eared fox looks AMAZING!!! I think I’m in love. 😛

You will note that she has the gold plated pewter horns, reflecting the fact that we’ve made a step in the direction of solving our horn dilemma! We are not entirely done having technical difficulties with them and so will just have a few small batches of items with gold plated pewter accessories. We will make some Scratching Dragons to match these ladies, and then another batch or two of another color.

        Yay, scratching dragons!! 😀

I’m so happy to hear that you’ve made progress on the gold horn issue. Does this mean that we will get amethyst or copper patina scratchers at some point? Or new test paints for Ebay? Honestly, I’m just pleased as punch at the prospect of any new scratching dragons. 🙂

My only concern with having very small batches of similar/identical pieces instead of grab bags is that some opportunistic people who are able to stalk the store all the time might snatch them up with the sole intention of selling them at a higher price on the secondary market. Of course, such people could theoretically do this with any release, but I think it’s more likely to happen with small batches, since a batch of a dozen will sell out far more quickly than a grab bag of 160.

I would rather take my chances with large grab bag batches and trade with other forum members than get constantly shutout trying to buy from many very small batches. I think that everyone gets a better chance of getting what they want with the large batch grab bags that Melody has been making lately.

I agree that more frequent grab bags makes each piece a tiny bit less “special”, since they are less rare, but I don’t think it’s a bad thing. More grab bags means more people get to enjoy one of a kind pieces painted by Melody who otherwise might not be able to afford one, such as a special Ebay piece.

While it is unfortunate when people who really want to buy a certain grab bag can’t afford one, I think that’s just a fact of collecting. Ultimately, buying pretty statues is a want, not a need. But for Windstone Editions, selling pretty statues IS a need, and I don’t think that it’s fair to them to ask that they not make grab bags until certain collectors have saved enough money to buy them. If grab bags sell out quickly every month, it means there are enough collectors who do have the money to buy them (How many people love Windstones but aren’t on the forum? Probably lots.), and that is good for Windstone.

Besides, with all the trading that goes on, now with multiple batches and different sculpts, even if you miss a grab bag, there is a good chance that you can trade for one from that batch later. I have had to pass on a few grab bags in the past for money reasons, but I always love seeing the photos that other collectors have posted.

ugh, no Hades or red, ewww!

Haha. I think like you! I think people either love them or hate them. For some reason I don’t care for red or orange colours but I love pink, although not really for eyes. My favourite eye colours are the blue and teal. One eye colour I really like is the dark blue/purple that some of the sugarplum poads had. This one: http://windstoneeditions.com/products/poad%E2%84%A2-sugar-plum-blue-eyes They call them blue but they shine like purple in the light.

              That IS a lovely color!

I think that color is perfect! It is dark enough to avoid that deer-in-the-headlights look, but light enough to stand out against the black body of the unicorn. I hope this is the color that gets picked, I really don’t want the new black unicorns to look just like the old black unicorns only with silver accents and no blaze.

I think the black unicorns with silver collars would look great with periwinkle or lavender eyes and amethyst gems. I think dark eyes, whether blue or brown, would tend to disappear into such a dark color scheme.

The thought that some time soon I might be able to get a grand unicorn from the store has me excited. 😀

                  Happy Thanksgiving, fellow canucks!

I have been enjoying the crisp Autumn weather with my family this weekend. I’m always thankful for a long weekend. 😉

At long last, my red foxes! I think the darker one is a pastel cross fox, and it’s definitely staying with me. 🙂 The marble fox will be up for trade for another red fox with more red or brown.

Here are my little cuties. I like the Arctic fox sculpt better in person than I thought I would. The predominantly white one is such a pristine white, very snowy looking. The other looks like a toasted marshmallow. 🙂

I am definitely keeping the white one, but I might trade the darker one for a summer coat arctic fox without a blaze.

My fox troop finally arrived yesterday but I didn’t get the chance to photograph them. One is a marble fox and the other is a silver fox with lighter face and chest. I like the silver, but I was really hoping to get a cross fox, so the marble will be going up for trade.

                        Pictures coming soon. 🙂

Despite being only 28 years old and all my peers having smartphones, I do not own, nor have I ever owned, a cellphone. And I plan on staying that way for as long as I can! As a result, I am nearly illiterate when it comes to using cellphones, so if you can send a text, you are more cell-savvy than I am.

I understand certain people needing a cellphone, e.g. doctors, important managers, people who travel a lot, etc., but I would wager that most people could get by just fine without one. Everyone did, not so long ago. I know I don’t need one; I’m either home (reachable by landline), at work (landline), or on the road (shouldn’t be on the phone). The number of times per month I find myself needing a cellphone I can count on one hand and have fingers to spare.

I know lots of people love their phones, but to me it would just be a electronic ball and chain -one that I would have to pay for the privilege of using!

                            Great looking fox, Meowmix.

Seeing all these adorable fox pebbles is making it hard to be patient for mine. It’s funny how a week can feel like forever with grab bags. 🙂

I finally got around to photographing my fishy fat cat. He has a blue face, pink little nose, and bright green splash on his back with a goldfish. Sorry for the lousy photo quality; I couldn’t find decent lighting anywhere.

I was surprised at how big this sculpt is. I was expecting it to be a little bigger than a fennec pebble, but these kitties really are fat cats. 🙂

I agree, this is a really nice color scheme. I particularly liked the hatching dragon recently sold on Ebay with the gold dorsal scales and nose. A predominantly black griffin with gold beak and claws with green feathers would be lovely.
