Just opened the box on my red flame curly dragon and am officially in love… the expression on his wee face SO needs a mug of coffee next to him, as he looks like he just woke up. 😀

He’s smaller than I thought, but not in a bad way– instead I think he’s adorable. I can see why everyone was thrilled with them!

I’m so glad the mailing list was set up– I’d never have gotten him yesterday (how’s THAT for speedy delivery -g-) if I hadn’t gotten the email and run to eBay. 😀

A lovely early birthday gift to myself. 😉

They do look like scary little avaocados, but if you can’t sleep, it is only because the Muse wishes you to go create something instead. He-she-it will stare at you until you do. A dixie cup fits over them nicely.

yes, but then you might get a muse inspired dixie cup and no one wants that 😉

    Hi-

Was it ever revealed if the muse was going to be sold? I’ve kept a spot on my desk for one, just in case… I’m really not into PYO– the arthritis and carpal I have made me stop sketching, and painting is about the same… but so help me I’d paint up a muse, if only to keep me giggling on bad days. 😀

    thanks!

    Yay! Another color!!

how about irridescent (spelled wrong) blue and violet with black shaded wings? 😀

in reply to: Hang tags #521052

I have to admit, I rip all my hangtags right off once I get the new family member home and admire it from every concievable angle, and rubbing fingertips over it to feel the details my eyes miss. 😀

Yeah, prolly ruins any possible resale value, but I’ve always thought of the hangtag removal as the final step in making them mine, in an odd way letting them know (yes, I know they’re not real, I’m odd, ok? -g-) they’re here forever.

heh — if he was offered direct I’d grab him… I’m honestly not a fan of the hatching baby or the young dragon, and that would be the first mother I’d own; the male is my favorite dragon, followed by the newer sculpts. But that black and tan coloration is just so darn perfect to me. I have no clue why, but like the colors that have grabbed others, I just WANT one in that quite badly, and will bid my savings up to get him — I’ll figure what to do with his family later. 😀

Reading about your storage space problem in another topic has brought this question to mind: Are you done clearing out really old stored items or might we expect some nice surprises on ebay in the future like the black and tan family or the wedding cake family?

And about the black and tan family… If the info in the ebay gallery is correct, there is still one family left to sell, besides the one you’re keeping as paint samples. Is that right?
We are done clearing out the old warehouses for now. Everything is stuffed into the space we have. There could still be stuff that we haven’t found yet, we don’t know what is boxed. We have lots of boxes and we didn’t go through all of them by any means!.
We have two pairs of Black and Tan dragons. I was going to auction one pair and keep the other. I would paint a hatchling to go with them.

    oooo… oh so much for savings — I have wanted the male in that set since the day I saw him, and I’ll fight tooth and nail for him and his family. :}

OK, my first “Ask Melody” question, lol, please by kind. And sorry if it has been asked before.

Have you thought about releasing the Coiled Mother Dragon in a new color? I think the sculpt is beautiful and graceful, but, unfortunately, it is a little out of my price range on Ebay. I know you said you are trying to reduce the amount of things in production, so I just didn’t know if maybe the male might disappear and the mother reappear? Maybe, I don’t think that far ahead! The Coiled Mother is one of my favorites, but the male coiled dragon with the globe outsold her, so she got put aside for awhile. I think she would sell just as well as the male if she had a globe instead of an egg.

You know, if you could find an outlet for a palce that does fake stones in egg shapes, having a mother dragon guarding an egg made to look like a birthstone would be so darn cool… and I think a while back everyone was really interested in something for every birth month. It seems like a neat way to use an existing sculpt, but personalize it with birthstones rather than eggs or globes to make it all new again. 😀

in reply to: Ideas for new color name #513374

If I might; and I’m not trying to be offensive or nasty here– The problem with names like Viridian, or Aurora (I’m using a few that I’ve read in recent threads– it is NOT picking on them and them alone) is that while a fan might LIKE the names like that, the average person shopping for a dragon or whatever for a family member is not going to take a leap and order a “viridian” whatever, unless the shopowner has that in stock and out there so the person can point and go “OOO, they’ll love that really neat blue-green rainbowish one”.

It’s not a need to dumb anything down, it’s a need to make a name a shopkeeper can offer as descriptive of the item if they don’t have one in stock and have the customer SEE it in their mind and want to order it.

Heck, I’ve worked with setting up ads and photoshop and the like and if my better half came in asking if I’d like an “ocean” dragon I’d think either pale seafoam, or a deep green and say no. If she came in and asked if I’d like a viridian anything, I’d prolly say no as well, as I’m not sure the color this pops into my mind is one I’d want to look at on a 200 + dollar luxury item. However, if she came in and said it was dark turquoise (spelled wrong, I’m sure; being lazt and dyslexic means speeling eeerors -g-) or any of the non fantastic names (fantastic being ones like aurora, ocean, water, etc) I’d see the color without thinking about it.

Since Windstone wants to sell not only to the few who frequent this forum, but to the folks in malls, and shops, and to the internet which doesn’t post EVERY color, sometimes just posting the color NAME, having a simple to mentally identify name seems kinda to make sense.

    Just my two cents.

in reply to: Red Glass votive holders for Candle Lamps. #513156

Not having any WIndstone candle lamps (yet) I cannot vouchsafe that they’ll fit, but QVC (either via yer TV or at QVC.com) has tiny rechargable votives that flicker just like candles… and they even have a set that slowly fade from color to color in jewel tones. I bought two sets for the regular candle lamps I have in the house, as I have a thing for candles, but do not have a thing for falling asleep and waking to fire. 😀

I’m thinking the set I have, dropped into a clear votive holder on your windstone candle lamps would work without the problem of overheating, and solve the “changing eye” thing without trying to find differnet color holders.

    Just a thought. 😀
