You have metallic silver and what looks to be the color I call metallic tan. The others are correct, these two colors are not available on PYO’s. We have a limited supply of metallic silver and tan paint, so we have only been making metallic silver and tan eyes in small batches for special editions and ebay items.
Thanks, Pam, that’s very helpful to know! I completely understand why you’d need to reserve them for more limited pieces. I was just puzzled as heck and figured I was missing something obvious.
I’m in love with the fiery crevices on the wings. That looks amazing (and like a heck of a lot of time was put into them!) And the horn details are coming out great too. I love the overall look, he’s a neat one.
Going to do a glossy finish on him or keep him more towards the matte look?
Yay for getting your faves! That’s terrific–and they’re both lovely. The markings on that ocelot are just wonderful.
Now it makes sense–I really thought I was simply not seeing something on that chart. The need isn’t immediate, so I have time to order a few of each size to have on hand. Might as well anyway, since whenever I order a PYO, I feel like I’ve picked the wrong color eyes and gems every time! LOL
Thanks all, this really does help. And Hannah, I’ll check on whether the brownish/goldish eyes are metallic in a bit & edit this post. I haven’t looked closely enough yet, but I think they might be; the metallics just look like they have more depth to them somehow.
Edit–definitely metallic. They’re bit warmer in tone and a touch darker gold than the “light yellow” that I’ve got on my PYO wolf & griffin. I might try some macros of both eyes later if I have time, they’re really pretty. And I’ll be interested to compare them to the shades Tohickon has–their gold in that link is a brighter shade than what I’m seeing on this uni. The silver looks like it should be a pretty good match.Wow, Hannah, how gorgeous! Love that one!
See, thats what I’d call both colors as well–but what am I missing here? Are these just not available through Windstone for PYOs, and only used on certain LP sculpts? I’m not seeing either of those listed in the eye color chart or the drop downs on the PYO ordering pages. I certainly don’t mind ordering equivalents elsewhere…just kind of confused.
Or maybe I just need more caffeine? 😀
I hope so too . I miss PYO unicorns . I’d love to see them with silver horns .
Me to. In fact, I wouldn’t mind having the horns just pewter, and not plated. If that’s what it took for them to be re-stocked I would be content with that.
Having both as options would be nice too. 🙂 I do like the silver tones with some color schemes better than the gold, and having plain pewter would be fine for that.
Thank you and I am sorry too.I do know how you feel.
It was good Karma too.I did a Pay-it-Forward this morning to two people at once and I got this beauty hours later.Cool! :bigsmile:No worries and NO need at all to feel sorry. I’m glad you got something so wonderful–and getting good Karma back is always a good thing! I’m truly happy for you. *hugs*
I think I was lucky in a way, because I didn’t have a specific favorite ahead of time from this batch; my only real criteria was stripes, so I wasn’t too hard to please. 🙂 The cuscus I received that was posted at the start of the thread went to a good home who very badly wanted him, and I certainly can’t say now that I lack for stripes among my Windstones. LOL I’m happy with what I have, and while there have been a couple I’ve liked better, I do love mine.
OK, so now that we’ve located the missing cuttlefish zebra, who besides the second red panda drag0n mentioned is left unaccounted for?
Of the three I’ve done–one was based strictly on a scale pattern found in nature (the all blue/silver version of the Asagi Koi). The second (griffin) was originally based loosely on a character I wrote, but it evolved from there as I started hunting down various predator birds, looking for wing patterns–and further still when my paint and technique wouldn’t allow me to do his lower half the way I wanted to. LOL The wolf was/is a character–I wanted a dark wolf anyway based on a scene I’d done, but the unusual wing pattern on him and both versions of his story (sweet little fairy tale/folklore & full fledged character for a paranormal setting) came to me at the same time.
That’s probably why I haven’t been able to get the small dragon done that’s been patiently waiting a few weeks. I’ve had no real inspiration on it lately. I’ll probably do that one for a friend’s daughter based on a drawing from a book she sent to me, and do one of my own later when I actually have a color scheme begging to be painted!
Congrats, Bodine…but darn. That was one I was possibly willing to trade one of my two for. Ah well. 🙂
Just some plutonium. I threw it out, no one uses it anyway…
( Nothing was in it. I made the warning label. 😀 )
Oh , as long as you didn’t throw out ours…
Windstones secret ingredient? ;p
So THAAAT’S it…… 8)
Nah, couldn’t be anything so common as plutonium. It’s unobtainium. 😀
(actually, I think we all know it’s magic…probably in the form of pixie dust or some such!)
What Wampus said! 🙂
Even though, personally I wouldn’t so much mind the wolf in black, I’d rather it in more natural colors.. I’m very excited to see the wolves in GB
I’m looking forward to seeing that grab bag too. I’d like to see both light and dark wolves in the store, but heck, I’m at the point where I just want to see ANY OF THEM in the store…even if it’s the black sparkle I won’t buy! At least I’d know the rest were coming. (especially the red fox…LOL)
Little roly polys–I can see where they must be just a bear to paint.
A lot of these are just so fabulous! Everyone’s pics are so inventive–Kaytana, love your silhouettes, they’re absolutely gorgeous,
I only composed and sent in the one image for this contest–I should have put more time into it, because it was one of the few contests I might have stood a chance at so far, but there was a lot going on stress-wise & medically during the two weeks of the submission period. I was honestly not coming up with any ideas, couldn’t find the camera, you name it. It was just bad timing–oh well! Hubby came up with this particular idea when I (mostly deliriously) mentioned the contest to him; his first and second ideas were um…not suitable for a family forum. *snort*
I was sick as a dog & pretty much bedridden when we shot it, right before the deadline. I rolled out of bed, grabbed what I needed, took a few shots, cropped, sent, and went back to bed. So I was a little surprised to even make the finals; it’s far from my best work, but knowing just how putrid I felt that day, I’m just pleased it came out as well as it did. It’s very hubby–one of his kilts (yes, there’s more than one, I’ve lost count of them, actually!), chosen to coordinate with the yellow fuzzy, and one of his furry sporrans.
Looking at it now with a much clearer head, if I’d had more time/energy and half a brain, I can see where I would have changed things up a bit–and of course NOW I have plenty of ideas! I think the one thing I definitely should have done was to actually shoot it while he was wearing it all instead! LOL I can definitely see fuzzies loving that sporran. 😀 We’re forever having to protect it from the dogs and cats.
But hey, it was a nice momentary distraction from being sick that week.
That new Serval Hawk Griffin is KILLING me. I think that’s my favorite of all the griffs Melody’s painted, and if there’s a female I’ll probably start bawling when that one comes up–I love that sculpt. Sigh. Just no way–unless I was willing to part with both of the larger coppers, which I’m not. Unfortunately, Hubby’s already making muttering noises about there being too many Windstones. I’m limited to scrounging less expensive ones, ones I can repair, and PYOs for a while.
But man, that griffin is simply gorgeous. I’m insanely jealous of whoever gets it, and I hope they’ll post real life pics for the rest of us to drool over when it arrives.
Love the different color eggs on the latest hatching royalty! I know they’re a pain to paint, but they’re just so pretty when they’re done that way.
