For what it’s worth (and maybe it’s because I don’t know what I’m looking for :’) ), I can’t really see too many battle scars! The only one that stands out to me is the one in the photo taken from the rear.
One things for sure: he’s got character! Let us know what you decide about repairing him! #baddog <3
Oh my gosh, I’m crying: those little bean Poads (and the swimming poad!) are just the cutest thing <3
Sending you good vibes, Ms. Melody! Keep plug’n along!
Landipan – Thanks to you I have discovered the handy ‘gallery’ link on people’s pages. You have some really stunning pieces! Did you paint some of them yourself?
Nightcrow – Uuuughhh; I think that’s the most difficult question I’ve been asked so far!
I love, love, LOVE the little armadillo, but am under the impression that it’s a discontinued sculpt. Beyond that, there really isn’t much I don’t like! I think the Oriental dragons are beautiful, I love all of the equines (Ki-rin included), love the western type dragons, and like the more ‘normal’ animals as well! As far as colors go, I like just about everything there as well… I love jewel tones, neons, pastels, monochromes…the only thing I really don’t like are earth tones, but that doesn’t generally extend to animals. Really, I’m not helping myself narrow anything down. However, there are three things I can say that I love for sure: surprises, rarities, and cute things. So I’ll probably ultimately settle on a grab bag, an ebay auction, and any of the baby creatures.
As far as model horses go, there is pretty much no rhyme or reason to my collection xD I collect all makes (AR, CM, CMG, and OF Breyers, Stones, and Chinas) and all sizes. I had a pretty big (400-500) collection in my adolescence, but packed them all up in totes when I moved out for college. I’m slowly going through the totes, trying to parse it down so it’s smaller and easier to enjoy. …All while I’m still buying, of course (I have a problem xD) I just purchased a Stone Pebbles ASB who’s just lovely <3
Akhal-Tekes are such beautiful horses! Which sculpts do you have? Do you attend shows at all? 🙂 I’m bummed the photos aren’t working D; I love drooling over everyone’s gorgeous collections!Bodine – STUNNING!
I’m really taken by that lovely white dragon… Is that the “Lap Dragon”?EDIT – I forgot to ask the questions I had come up with D:
-Do Grab Bags often sell out? How quickly does that generally happen?
-Are there always ‘test’ or ‘ooak’ auctions going on in the eBay store, or just sometimes?I’m trying to get a grasp on how quickly I need to act when something pops up that I simply can’t live without 😉
(Let’s see if my post works this time around ;O;!)
Hi again, Megan! Congratulations on your first job; now you’ll have some disposable income to play with! Way to go! 😀
Storm, you have an incredible collection. Just look at those families! I’m shook <3
Happy birthday, Ela!
Do you have any plans for your special day? c:Fifth!
Can’t wait to see examples <3 Eyes are the windows to the soul, as they say!Welcome Megan! I’m new as well <3 I look forward to watching your collection grow :D!

How was your concert?! Did you have a blast? :D!!
^That might actually be kind of cool? ;D
Mika – Probably wise words!!
Kujacker – What stunning pieces! I especially love the little Ki-rin! (What exactly is a ki-rin? They’re just beautiful!)
Nightcrow – Very informative! Thank you! Isn’t it fun to look back and see where companies have come from, and where they’re going?
Storm – I’m a longtime member of several forums of varying sizes and activity levels, so I’m familiar with the wax and wane, and the general dynamics, of online communities. To me, that’s half the fun; I don’t think I’d be involved with any of my hobbies (except maybe reading and writing, since that’s my job xD) if it weren’t for the wonderful online resources and communities that go along with them!
pipsxlch – In model horse collecting, we call finding models in unexpected places “sightings in the wild” xD I’d be thrilled if I found a windstone by chance!
Thanks for the clarification about gypsum; I’ve collected a variety of finishes (? the word I’m looking for escapes me /die) (resin, china, traditional plastic, etcetc) but never this! And so funny you say that about pets! I’ve got two kitties, a bunny, and a horse. My ‘heart cat’ has a personality like you wouldn’t believe, so I’ll test it out on him!Landipan – Yes ma’am, I’m on both sites under the same username! I have probably in the realm of 400-500 model horses (some of which I’m trying got sell, but that’s a huge endeavor!), and CS keeps my taste for collection and acquirement sated when I’m trying to be “good” xD So great to see you here, as well! What a small world it is! 🙂
Celestial – The array of colors and species really is incredible! It’s one of the things that’s really captivated me, as well. Please take pictures when you have the chance–I’d love to see your beauties!
drag – A windstone doctor! I love the moniker <3
Tell me a little more about that! How did you get started? Was it just lots of trial and error, or did you have some guidance?_______________
Again, thank you all for your words of wisdom! I’m having a great time perusing the site, exploring the various species, and going back and forth over what I’d like to purchase first. (Am I the only one who thinks the first piece needs to be extra special?)
For those of us who are in other hobbies, isn’t it interesting how we consider the price differently from hobby to hobby? I don’t bat an eye spending several hundred dollars on clothing, a piece of tack, or a model horse… But I’m like $80? Should I? Should I not? I realize they’re 100% worth it, given the obvious time and love that’s put into each piece; I think it’s just a cognitive dissonance I have when I’m new to something. Anyone else?
What a neat find!
