My little Poad is out of the box! She is lovely; flashes of interference green over her eyes, interference orange down the wings, and metallic periwinkle eyes. They are hard to see, but there are even lots of little blue spots on her wing feathers! Very rich green on her flanks too (although she looks a lot more teal in the photos). She IS up for trade though, if anyone would like her 🙂

Whee I got one! I’m so glad I decided to wander over to the forum tonight, otherwise I would have missed them completely and been bummed about it. There are so many catching my eye from the photos up on Facebook, I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

A huge and heartfelt thank you to everyone at Windstone Editions for putting beautiful things out into the world! Like others here I was inspired by early pieces when I was a child, and I still find it amazing how something as inanimate as a statue can hold such life and breathe all on its own in the eyes of a willing beholder. I’m also thankful for Windstone being inspiring as a business, and you all toughing it out through uncertain times, all to create increasingly beautiful things! I’m proud to root for you all, continue to welcome your creations into my home, and to continue to be amazed by what comes from both the business and this community of collectors and friends 🙂 THANK YOU!

Aw, sorry to hear you’re lonely! I’ve felt that way a few times myself, but luckily I’ve never been far from a warm cat in my lap or a friendly snake to inhabit my sleeves, and they help 🙂

Don’t hesitate to spend the time doing something you might not be able to when your family is around. Turn up your music and sing! If you’ve been putting off a crafts project or a good book, it’d be just the time for that too. I find myself baking a lot when I’m home alone, but things that freeze well so I can share them with family when they return.

Hope your loneliness can be warded off well!

All three of the recent rock dragons are beauts, but the rainbow pumpkin takes the cake – I think it’s the prettiest one I’ve ever seen! Though I’m in the same boat as others that could never afford them either in the shop or on Ebay, I feel lucky just to see great pictures of them! Congrats to those that get to give all of these special pieces new homes, they are little gems 🙂

Same with me too, I had plenty of time on the timer when the page loaded to tell me my cart was empty. I’m not surprised though, with all of the site traffic – and this happens everywhere on the web when there’s an item in demand! Has anyone else ever made the mad dash for a Bag of Crap on Woot? Or tried to snag some Black Friday online deal only to have the website go belly-up? Bottom line is that it happens, and although I’m sure the Windstone folks aren’t happy about it (and a lot of potential customers aren’t happy about it!) even huge retail websites have the same problems.

Siberakh1 I had one bounce out of my cart too – at least I think I did. Cart timer was going and I clicked over to the cart to see it empty. Didn’t try to add anything else to the order though. Confusing!

Buh, looks like I missed them too… saw them in stock but they were gone by the time I tried to click one into my cart. Oh well, I’ll be around to see if any pop back out of carts in an hour. It’s good to know more are on the way, and congrats to those who snagged one!

After drooling over these guys in all of the posted media, these are my favorites!

Especially the rainbow zebra and the yellow/green/blue appy with the bright orange mane. The green spotted one on the upper left looks really cute too. Crossing my fingers!
The amount of work that goes into each of these boggles me, if I ever tried to do something of that magnitude I’d get bored and call it done halfway through 🙂

Flamingdragon is right, and unfortunately I’ve had that happen myself to a rainbow male 🙁 The plastic can react with the clear coat finish of a piece. I’m sure not all pieces would react, and not all bubble wrap could cause a reaction, but why take chances?

On a related note, some have reported that paper can get stuck to these pieces as well. Fluctuating humidity is likely a big contributor to that.

in reply to: Advice for moving with Windstones? #886660

Hi all! I wanted to post with the happy update that every single one of my Windstones made it through the move without so much as a fleabite! Most of them even traveled in the moving van, not in my car in tow. I’ve included a few pictures to describe the packing method I used, in case anyone is curious.
    Photobucket
This was the piece I was worried about most (I wonder why!). He doesn’t have his original box or bag, so I bagged him up in a couple of plastic ziptop bags. I’ve learned the hard way never to use bubble wrap directly against a Windstone.
    Photobucket
Here’s the box he went into. It’s already been packed on five sides with a super-corrogated cardboard material similar to what Windstone uses for their custom-fitted shipping inserts. This gives plenty of padding against impacts that might dent the corners/sides of the box in.
    Photobucket
The dragon goes in after a few inches of packing peanuts are added on top of the corrogated panels. More gets piled on top afterwards, making sure they get into all the nooks and crannies.
    Photobucket
A final layer of corrogated cardboard goes on top before the box is all closed up. There’s no wiggle room left for the big fella in there, which is a big reason why he made it through the trip safely.
    Photobucket
This box got packed with multiple pieces: two males and a votive holder from a candlelamp. Each is separated from the other by a thick wall of rigid material. This was just to test the ‘fit’ of the three pieces before they got buried in packing peanuts.

Hope this helps out someone else anxious about moving with their collection! If I had to do it all over again, I’d have saved up strong boxes and packing peanuts much farther in advance, I needed a LOT of them!

*dances* Yay I got myself a pair! One with light green eyes and one with lavender. I’m already picturing them in bright spring colors with lots of gold accents… which is good, because by the time I get myself moved, unpacked, and my supplies all set up again, it’ll probably be spring anyway 😉
