its a really fair trade in breyers because of all the prep work…they require sanding and seeming and priming and then a basecoat. But with windstone PYOs they just need a basecoat and then off you go. I think that for a paint trade, its not overly fair, I would think the detail work would take way more time. So You might be better off to find someone to hire to do the detail work.
But maybe that is just me.
dragonessjade wrote:Well I haven’t actually checked out all of the agencies, just the ones from here. I was assuming that the ones from other countries were easier to adopt children. 28 grand? That is a price of a car. I would say that someone is seriously making a profit from this…although hopefully it goes back to the country. Will you post or PM me the info you have or checked into? That is really sad that you would have to do that to become a parent.
Sure…the agency I talked to is http://www.c2adopt.org/ and is located in Richmond VA. It is easier to get kids from other countries in some ways, and harder in others.
Positives include…
Parents can’t change their minds! *happened to me twice with a US adoption
the birthmother doesn’t pick you…you just are on a list and it goes in order. You can wait forever or YEARs to be picked by a birthmother
Not that much more expensive for these safeguards. But there are Negs too….
No family history *or not much of one
No chance of people NOT knowing you adopted
Travel several times
you have no choice but to get a older baby..no infants
Very expensiveBut to be fair…we got an list of how every dime of the 28 grand is spent…the agency only gets like 2 grand. Its a couple of grand for the homestudy, and 4 or 5 grand for travel, “gifts” for the foster family members, and then 19,000 goes directly to the lawer in Guat. Because he has to use that money to pay for all the food/shelter/medicine and whatnot since the child was born. And he has to go to the courts and do all the running.
THere is only one main court in Guat for adoptions, and lawers must arrive their at 5 in the morning to “hope” to see a judge that day. SO they can waste so much time trying to get through the mire.So anyway its not as bad as you might think. And for that country you don’t have to be in a household with a stay at home parent or a certain income. Thank god!
Plus that 28 grand includes travel, hotel stays/ and whatnot. So its not quite as horrible as you first think.
Still sucks…but what can you do.bluepony78 wrote:Now, I’m just curious, because that picture is pretty bad, does he probably look like this one?

maybe close…he might be darker if he is a early edition. But those were lousy photos. You got a great deal~*ha ha ha* 😈 😈 😈 we are soooo evil!
dragonessjade you only have to be married to adopt from certain agencys or certain countries. For example my partner and I will be going through this in about 2 years when she finishes nursing school. We are going through Guatimala *spelled all kinds of wrong. They will adopt to singles. And they will adopt to women or men. Its about 28 grand for a child…and by the time you can pick them up, your child will be about 9 months to a year old. Not too bad. 🙂 That is the way we are going. We have to refinace our morgage to become loving parents…sad huh?

Come Out Come out wherever you are!!!
Wonder how many of us there are on here? They say 1 in 10….makes you wonder how true that is in the windstone collecting world? ha!
Off Topic…but gosh! Go on the Rosie Cruise with me this summer!purplecat wrote:So how do we get her to my profile?
Go to your profile
scroll down to signature
in the box put the following exactly, but take out the spaces
And that should do it! 🙂 You sometimes have to post again to see it.Actually with the rainbow I might antique with a muddy brown…would work with all of the colors. Just be light on the yellow. I might also think about shading instead of antiqueing. Add shadows unter the wings…arms..whatnot. It would take away from the flatness of the work without ruining the AWsome blending.
As for the wolf…I agree with GB…its rather randome. The colors are in “blocks” and those blocks are not placed in any known logical order. For example…they are not in rainbow order or anything. I think really its the orange that doesn’t work…the rest blend pretty well, but the orange just is too bright and in your face…if you know what I mean. I would lower that nice purple down into the orange area…if it were mine.
But reguardless they are both well done! I love em!Oh Lokie! He is so wonderful. Very nice job! So lifelike…I could just reach over and pet him!
purplecat wrote:Is that one real or did you do the purple with the computer cause if she’s real I gotta have her!!!!!!! Wow again, Thank you whippet!!!!

Dragon Master wrote:whippetluv wrote:Yeah But I actually want to move to Mass one day. Cause I can get married there!
But seriously…I am in virginia, in a very expensive area for my ummm area. My house is about 1000 sqft and I could sell for about 120. It has a small yard…but is in town, not a big lot. But its a 2 bd/2bth that has been upgraded.
I can’t imagine tring to buy a home in your area. Of course pay is lower here too. In my area a job that pays more than 10 bucks an hour, unless you are a nurse or have a mastersdegree, is very very hard to come by. Soooo I guess it just shows ya.Why would you have to go to MA to get married??
Because I am a lesbian. 🙂 Its the only state were I can get married in the US right now. There are a couple where I can get a civil union…but MA is the only one for marriage. Bummer huh?
for those who asked…I live in the coastal area of virginia. Very cheap living compaired to many areas! You can still give a 3 bed. condo here for under 100.
