I’m under going the same problem. I never recieved my e-bay dragon purchase as well. I am currently trying to resolve the issue through paypal. Hope it works out because like anyone, I hate getting taken.

I am curious as to why this spectral dragon would be signed by Melody. I’m not sure if this should be in the ask Melody forum or here, but here goes anyway’s. I was watching this when he first came up for auction last week. I missed the end sale but I see he is being resold this week all ready. The reason I am curious is that I have a Peacock Spectral and I can’t see any difference between mine and this one so I can’t figure out why it is signed by Melody. Unless it is a fake signature or was signed for some other special reason? Here is the link.

    Sorry Santa!!! 😕

    REMEMBER THIS AT CHRISTMAS TIME

According to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, while both male and female reindeer grow antlers in the summer each year, male reindeer drop their antlers at the beginning of winter, usually late November to mid-December.

Female reindeer retain their antlers till after they give birth in the spring.

Therefore, according to EVERY historical rendition depicting Santa’s reindeer, EVERY single one of them, from Rudolph to Blitzen, had to be a girl.

    We should’ve known……

ONLY women would be able to drag a fat-ass man in a red velvet suit all around the world in one night and not get lost.

    MERRY CHRISTMAS

Yeah but now we know why Santa only goes out once a year. Imagine being drug around the world from rooftop to rooftop by all those women harping on him the whole time as to who is supposed to get what. 🙂

It’s up again. Thank goodness, I was quite disapointed when it went down. I hope it can be updated now.

I know this is a family site but all I can think to say is, holy crap batman. That is one impressive collection.

Thought I would offer a bit of an update. I didn’t want to respond to much untill I had recieved all the purchases I made at the beginning of the month.
    I bought:
    1 Windstone from Astral Castle
    1 Windstone off of e-bay
3 peice collection off of Craigs list

The peice from (Dave) Astral Castle arrived as ordered in mint condition with it’s original box shipped via Priority Post, excellent service by the way Dave.
The second ordered peice from e-bay had no original box but also arrived in mint condition via Priority Post.
The trio of items I purchased from the same owner off of Craigs List that were represented to be in mint shape arrived with each peice being chipped. I don’t believe it was a packing fault but more likely they were misrepresented. I sent packing instructions and I believe they were packaged all right. All three items were packaged in separate boxes (not original) with bubble wrap and peanuts and then packed into 1 bigger box also stuffed with peanuts, which was then shipped via UPS and left on my doorstep as I wasn’t home, which was scary in itself.

To sum up I would have to say that with proper packing peices should arrive okay. I also agree with Castle (Dave) that even though items might be offered as mint without their original boxes I suspect you are more likely to get a mint peice when it has it’s original box. I’m not stating that based on my own little study but I think it would tend to make sense. I wasn’t to concerned with the chips on the Windstones from Craigs list because I got all 3 for the price of 1 so I guess I can just e-bay them off again myself and hopefully regain my money back.

Thanks for all the feedback though people it was very informative.

I know he is already on the list but I’d just like to reafirm that Dave from Astral Castle is very professional and efficient and I would certainly purchase through him again.

In regards to the hang tags. Some of the earlier peices never even came with tags. The tags themselves appear to be pretty much generic. Why don’t they offer the tags for sale for those people that desire them and have lost or misplaced the original ones? Maybe you could order replacement box’s from the factory to. 😆

I know this has been asked before. If I remember correctly, replacement boxes aren’t made available, because it would be too easy to be purchased by someone with a knock-off (of which they do appear on ebay more often then you’d think) to help convince others that it is a ‘real’ windstone. This would definitely be true of the hangtags. There is also the issue of space/time with doing boxes at the factory for other than shipping pieces.

I know, personally, I have ordered pieces without their original box, however they were mostly smaller pieces, or ones that I know I could get home safely (because I transported them myself). I generally will not order an emperor without it’s original box (because of the risk of breakage is a higher, and it is a more expensive piece… I don’t pay for it to arrive in pieces), and would prefer lap dragons, old warriors, and scratching dragons to have their forms as well (since they have he wings a bit more spread, horns sticking out, etc., moreso than smaller, more compact pieces). I have kept all of my windstone boxes and keep them in plastic storage tubs. They store very easily in the attic. Since I will eventually move overseas (I live with family right now), and eventually elsewhere later in the future, I know those boxes will be very useful to me then. I also collect Swarovski and the same applies. Due to theif delicate (and expensive) nature, I always save my boxes, especially since some pieces are seasonal (like the snowflakes and yearly holiday stars). My mom keeps all of her precious moments boxes and a few of her doll boxes. Again, this is personal preference.

In regards to value, many collectibles, especially the more delicate ones, carry more value with their original box and tag/documentation/certificate (if the collectible has such), even if they were placed on display.

In regards to Windstone reselling hangtags I can see why they wouldn’t want to do that, what with the counterfitters. With the box’s though, they wouldn’t take up extra space in the factory per say because the box’s are the same for the respective peices. From what I can see, as I’m new to e-bay, there is quite a large market for the reselling of windstone products. So in that regard I think Windstone could help out their customers to better protect their investments by making available replacement box’s. All though the fewer original box’s that remain out there the more likely there will be fewer mint peices which in turn will force up prices, hmm.

I have approximately 50 Christmas village houses that I bring out of the basement every season and I have kept them in their original box’s for ease of storage when they’re not on display so I can understand why sometimes keeping box’s can be advantages. My quirky comment was not directed at Windstone collectors personally but was meant more as a remark in regards to the idea of keeping the box’s in general. In hindsight though I can see the purpose.

in reply to: Boxed In #733433

Thanks to all who have taken the time to respond. I’m getting that the general consensus here is that the original boxes “value” is mostly to ensure safe repackaging. I can understand, and have no problem with that and have actually started to keep some of my box’s. I never had any intention of ever reselling my peices but I know stuff happens and things change so I will keep original box’s now, when I get them at least. My concern was that peices that had their original box’s might be were worth more that ones that didn’t which I couldn’t understand, other than for the safe repackaging aspects.

In regards to damaged peices I find most peices seem to be damaged once there actually in the care and on display of the respective owner. I know lots will get damage or end up broken in transit but I can not get over how many get nicks, chips, cracks or other damage while on display in peoples homes. I love to admire my collection but I don’t over handle them and certainly don’t let others handle them.

in reply to: Boxed In #733421

I have a question about the relative worth of box’s. I’ve noticed while watching on e-bay and here in the forums, that some sellers will advertize whether or not a particular peice still has it’s original box and tag. In regards to the box the only thing usefull that I can see with having the original box is that it makes it easier to pack for resale or moving. The box’s themselves are not in any way special and, I would assume, not on display. With special care you can repack a peice into a different box any way so why take so much care to save up empty box’s which end up being just giant dust collectors and fire hazards? Does having an original box increase a peice’s value, even if the peice has already been out of the box and on display?

In regards to the hang tags. Some of the earlier peices never even came with tags. The tags themselves appear to be pretty much generic. Why don’t they offer the tags for sale for those people that desire them and have lost or misplaced the original ones? Maybe you could order replacement box’s from the factory to. 😆

I know that collectors of different items have certain criteria that they are looking for in objects that they are considering purchasing but I find that keeping box’s is a little bit quirky even for collectors, or is it just me.

Thanks everyone for the kind welcome. I wish I had taken the time to join the site ages ago. From what I have read, and there is a whole lot to read, you have a very nice community here. It’s nice to read and see that there are other like minded people that have such a great passion for collecting and treasuring Windstone items as I do as well. Again thanks for the warm welcome. I do have one question though, is there a spell check somewhere ❓

Ahhhhhhh yes the illusive peacock hatchng kinglet

I started with the brown mother and father then the young and hatching. When I joined the Forum I had about 35 Windstones I now have 116 Winstones. They really are addictive and belonging to the Forum really feeds it when you see all the curlies and other new ones offered in the store.

Wow,is all I can think to say. I’m so envious.
I suspect that there will come a day when I have that many because they sure are addictive to collect. Not to mention they are so nice to behold.

Welcome to the forum!! I did the same thing you did. I collected the main set of Peacocks (male, female, hatcher, and young) then after years, realized that there were other sculpts out there and freaked when I found out they retired the colour. But I’ve been lucky, I’ve been able to find everything except the Hatching Kingletwell and the Secret Keeper but at least I know they have the SK in stock. The kinglet is like my Grail quest… 🙂

Thanks nightcrow, I’ll keep my eyes open for your whites. Jasmine, funny how it goes the hatching kinglet was my first purchase all those years ago. The thing I’ve been wondering about the secret keeper is how I’m even going to display it when I eventually do get one.
