oooh thanks ski! that’s not too bad! certainly pack him for a long trip too, but i pack well anyway. that doesn’t sound bad at all. since i live in town, i have to go to the post office anyway to mail anything other than a small letter, so the trip to the post is no sweat! cool beans!

i know where there is one as well. i will look into if they still have it. i think they wanted 69.95 for it, buuuuuuuuuut they are bad shippers. they moved the shop so they threw out their boxes so they don’t really have anything to ship with. it may be an exception with this one, but i’ll look into it for ya.

so how hard is it really? i have never shipped anything outside the u.s. before and i was curious as to what you really have to do to pull it off. i wanted to offer it on my pyos i’m putting up tonight plus some other stuff, but i was all scared and intimidated. are there extra procedures you have to go thru at the post office? i know the postage rate is different obviously, but do i need to have the box open for them to inspect what’s in there? will someone else open it down the line?
i’d love some tips from a real human who has done this before to take the mystery and scariness out of it all! i just want to ship to europe and canada ( i know they are not overseas but they are out of country) for now. i appreciate any advice or tales! thanks!

yeah thats what u need to do with those… if theres a piece you really like, try to hand pick it. heck, even spencers carries some of their stuff! that’s not much for them to boast about, but yes, at least to can pick one that isn’t too defective. im sure peeps have gotten decent pieces but u have to hand pick em.

oh i HAVE to comment on this one!! design toscano does NOT sell quality stuff! the griffin, true, was offered by them a while back,( i feel so bad i didn’t get one then) but it was not made by them- they ordered em/commissioned em from another company who made those cast marble pieces. toscano sells hollow cast resin items, is some cases when they can’t make it hollow, its solid resin. made in china. pieces i have from them are VERY pitted and pimply – i have a pair of lions with faces like swiss cheese from the pitting/air bubbles! hair and debris stuck in the paint, big ol whole finger prints in the paint etc.!! really shocking!! a few other pieces are cast iron or whatever, as specified, but all made in a bit of a hurry, but you get what you pay for, and if you are not looking at the item up close its ok. if you look closely at their pieces- say angels, human figures, the classical reproductions- you’ll see they’re done so roughly with really poor hands on the figures, out of proportion, etc.it bothers me cuz i feel it disrespects the original historic piece because their “sculptor” copies it so poorly. i’m picky though.there is worse out there in the world too.
however, you can get some decent stuff from them- i have the rule of only get it if its cast from an original- not sculpted by one of their peeps.then you may get a good deal. or in the case of that beautiful griffin, made by someone other than their crew.

well, i’ll be posting a snazzy pyo silver dragon on ebay probably on monday..hes about half silver and half icy silver blue with deeper metallic blue wingwebs and scale points and blue eyes. the silver blue kicks up the silver just enough so its not too monotone, but still emanates true silver. maybe you guys will like him! (nudge nudge, wink wink) 😛

alright, you GO emerald! woo! hey, you should time your next sale with when you know everyone on here gets their taxes back, you hook us up and we’ll hook you up kind of thing! that way everyone gets the most out of it! you know peeps on here would rather support you as opposed to someone else! also, you know everyone will be squealing on here as here get their checks, one by one! ha ha! so you’ll have some good warning, if you are granted that much flexibility to time it as such. i know i’ll have WAY more money to spend then as opposed to now.

yeah that savings on the emps. is colossal!!, ohhhhh it hurts so bad! it makes me sick it hurts so! i wish they waited til we got our taxes back, but i think thats the point, they’d get business then anyway, so they have the sale now, when there is often a dry spell for peeps, so it levels off for them. i am dying for the emp in that new gold- he is STUNNING,my gawd- but for me its between its either him, or the last of the unis i need (before they’re gone) and a ruby before they’re gone or jump in price. i have plenty o time the get the emp in gold at this rate.gotta do things in order! he is to die for though!!

well, for what its worth grandio has offered a sale like this before, at least twice i think and i got stuff that way. they only offer it for a week or two ONCE a year so thats not a huge sin, in my opinion,(damaging the market -wise) and its only for peeps who signed up to get specials, not a publicly advertised sale. im sure if windstone had a problem with it they would have nailed em already, as they’ve had the sale in years past, plus its on almost all the stuff on their site, not just windstones. on the same note defending grandio, who HASN’T gotten a dealer to give em a deal off their in store prices, huh? i never paid tag prices for my pieces, i’ve haggled em down- but most stores do mark up more than websites, but i have had several shops offer frequent 10 % off deals, i’ve also paid less than online prices cuz the shopkeeper was desperate. im sure it happens alot. but we don’t know what their minimum prices are to say if there are dipping too deep.i don’t mind the sale though, then i’ll be back supporting the little guys with my tax money- that way everyone gets some!

very true, those little details are screaming to be painting something flashy like silver or gold- exactly, what else would u put there? black? depending on the paint color, but naturally u want to throw a little glitz on there! i just mentioned it cuz he mentioned it. i love the gold on those points, its often perfect, but we’ll see what comes of all of it. i agree dragon, gold there IS a very common idea to put on the points, at least for toenails and horns!

per the hoop-de-doo with that person copying the black emppea paint job…. (its on the” whats in a name” entry in ask melody )…john stated that the gold accenting, like wingwebs, toenails, scaletips and dotting are signature markings of theirs and peeps are discouraged from painting them that way, most importantly for selling purposes. that could be a problem with this guy, but you maybe should ask. i had it on my silver dragon i was painting for ebay too and i am working on it right now to change the accent points to another color that still works. 😛 just figged i’d mention it since its a real current issue. good luck!

sigh. and they’re gone. i wish i had more money, i would have gotten one. the white was pretty.its a toss up for me between the white and the russet, it would be nice to get a little more color for the money, but the white is very elegant. i’m getting married myself, to have a white dragon for the wedding would be sweet , but thats where alot o dough will be going soon 🙁 plus, i wanted to put all my $$ to a sale they have at grandio- i got a juicy coupon- so i wanted to get as much as i could there with the discount.hard decision though, juicy sale or limited productions. ack! maybe i’ll go for a russet.. if i’m not at work when they come up.. i’d love to have a signed piece!!
